    Study finds that inhibition of aromatase activity in diabetic male rats provided renal protection. There has been debate about the effects of testosterone therapy on the renal system. However, I propose that aromatase activity and conversion to estrogen is the negative effects of Testosterone. Other than over dosing men. Though this is a rat study, this study does support the theory.

    Increased aromatase activity and resultant estrogen production negatively effects libido in HIV men.  I don't believe that this effect is just found in those with HIV, but can be extrapolated to all.

    Injectable testosterone shown to increase Estradiol production and negatively influence the E2:T ratio in older, obese men.  This is no surprise as age and obesity are known to increase aromatase activity.  I am really surprised that no discussion of aromatase inhibition was discussed.

    Alpha lipoic acid and vitamin C shown to protect against oxidized LDL.  When discussing the negative effects of LDL, the real risk associated with LDL is whether it is oxidized or not.  Alpha lipoic acid and Vitamin C prevent this and thus protect the vascular endothelium.

    retrospective cohort finds mild but significant relationships b/t BMI and total Testosterone, Testosterone:Estradiol and Estradiol alone.  BMI was inversely correlated with Testosterone and the T:E2 ratio; but directly correlated with E2 alone. There was also a negative correlation with sperm concentration, motility and morphology.

    As obesity increases, so Testosterone decreases.  Hypogondatrophic hypogonadism is associated is found in obesity.  This is no surprise, as aromatase activity is increased in fat resulting in elevated Estrogen, which provides negative feedback to the hypothalamic-pituitary axis.  This results in decrease LH and thus Testosterone production.
