"An extraordinary timelapse video created with pictures from the International Space Station shows Earth as it has never been seen before. The video, called Further Up Yonder, was made by Italian film student Giacomo Sardelli using Nasa stills. Sardelli calls the film a message from the ISS to all humankind "

Why is the Sky Blue and not Violet? - YouTube - 0 views

  •
This is one of those questions which four year old's ask all the time. Also i would like to point out that there are plenty of other videos which address this question. However many of those fail to explain it in detail. This video covers many of those small details. I have been reading a lot about it. And while i was at it, many more questions came into picture, like why is the sun yellow, why are clouds white, why are oceans blue, etc. I have tried to cover up as much as possible in this video. I'll include all useful links below.

Felix Baumgartner Plummets to Earth at 834 Miles Per Hour in New Video - 0 views

  •
"Now, to mark the record-breaking dive's one-year anniversary, Red Bull (Baumgartner's sponsor for the dive) has released another video of Baumgartner's freefall - this one explicitly shot from Baumgartner's point of view. It's the same spinning and breathing and terror-mongering you might recognize from the originally published video, except even more intimate. And even more exhilarating."

Free Technology for Teachers: The Spangler Effect - Experiments and Explanations - 0 views

  •
"The Spangler Effect is a new YouTube channel from Steve Spangler Science. Unlike his popular Sick Science videos which are no more than short demonstrations of science experiments students and parents can do at home, The Spangler Effect videos offer longer (15 minutes or so) explanations of science experiments. The Spangler Effect videos explain the science of do-it-yourself experiments and how you can recreate those experiments at home or in your classroom"

Geology Kitchen #1 - What is a Mineral? - YouTube - 0 views

  •
The video introduces mineral properties using common fruit and vegetables as analogies for these five descriptive criteria. The video also demonstrates the orderly crystalline structure of halite (NaCl) using a model made of food (marshmallows and grapes). Comparisons between common substances such as ice and glass versus the mineral definition are made to illustrate the specific nature of the mineral definition.

Ride Along On SpaceX's Emergency Pad Abort Test [Video] | Popular Science - 0 views

  •
One such method is the pad abort test; it's a failsafe the Dragon will use on the launch pad in case the area becomes unexpectedly dangerous. Let's say a booster falls off before liftoff, spewing fire everywhere. SpaceX can initiate the pad abort, which will carry the capsule and its crew to safety. Eight SuperDraco engines embedded in the walls of the Dragon fire up and rocket the vehicle away from the dangerous launch pad.
The May 6 test demonstrated how the pad abort test would work, jettisoning the Dragon off of a launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida. No humans were on board for the ride, but SpaceX just released a video of the procedure, from the point of view of the spacecraft itself. Take a look below, and learn about the different phases of the test here.

The Full Resolution Video of Curiosity Touching Down on Mars - 0 views

  •
"One of the biggest bummers about Mars Rover Curiosity's epic landing is that there was no news crew on the surface to catch footage of the descent. This full resolution video of Curiosity touching down from its own point of view is the next best thing."

What Astronauts Will See-But Not Hear-When They Return To Earth From Mars ⚙ C... - 0 views

  •
The hypnotic video-recorded through the crew module's windows-was among the first data removed from the unmanned Orion capsule after its Dec. 5 test flight that lifted off from Cape Canaveral, FL and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean 4.5 hours later after traveling 3,600 miles above Earth. It was the farthest journey of a human-spaceflight vehicle since 1972, when the last of NASA's Apollo missions flew to the moon.

Unlike its real-time airing on NASA TV, this video shows all of the re-entry footage, beginning 10 minutes before splashdown, and including parts missed during the original downlink's blackout, when atmospheric friction caused peak temperatures of 4,000 ºF temperatures. As the capsule hurtles through the atmosphere at 20,000 mph, the resulting trail of plasma changes color from white to yellow to lavender to magenta as temperatures increase. The camera also captures the elaborate parachute deployment that slowed Orion's fall to a gingerly 20 mph for landing.

Space in Videos - 2014 - 11 - Demonstrating Rosetta's Philae lander on the Space Station - 0 views

  •
ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst performs a demonstration of how ESA's Rosetta mission will attempt to put a lander, called 'Philae' on the surface of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

Alexander narrates the story of the Rosetta mission and performs a demonstration that visualises the difficulties of landing on an object that has little gravitational pull. Using the weightless environment of the Space Station, Alexander attempts to land 'Philae' (an ear plug) onto the surface of the 'comet' (an inactive SPHERES robot) with increasing levels of difficulty: a rotating comet that is not moving to one that is both rotating and moving.

This video is one of the six experiments and demonstrations in the Flying Classroom, Alexander will use small items to demonstrate several principles of physics in microgravity to students aged 10-17 years.

The Rosetta mission's lander, Philae, will be deployed on 12 November at 08:35 GMT/09:35 CET from a distance of 22.5 km from the centre of the comet. It will land about seven hours later, with confirmation expected to arrive at Earth at around 16:00 GMT/17:00 CET.
