How to Dance in Ohio - 0 views

This is a documentary that follows 3 teenage girls with autism as they get ready for prom, and learn how to transition into adulthood. Education and early intervention is important with ASD, but as OTAs we also need to remember that these individuals will be dealing with their autistic symptoms for most of their life. This documentary gives us a glimpse into their lives, relationships, families, and therapy sessions as they learn the social rules and cues of the adult world. I wish I had HBO so I could watch this. I encourage all of you to watch it if you can. It looks like a beautiful documentary that shows the basic desire we all have to be loved and accepted.

This the website for the company we talked about in class. I know a few families that have used the company in Chattanooga, and they had a great experience with them. Mobility works specializes in making vehicles wheelchair accessible, and can customize the vehicles with entry ramps, power lifts, hand controls, and ways to secure the wheelchair in the car. They also have a rental service where you can rent a car/van that is already wheelchair accessible (perfect for family trips and vacations.) Mobility Works has locations nationwide, and three business locations in Tennessee.

Tummy Time for Everyone! - 1 views

We've covered the benefits of tummy time in infancy in Pediatrics, but this article expands upon the benefits as children grow up. They had some good ideas how to incorporate tummy time into the classroom, and demonstrates how beneficial tummy time can be for adults. Maybe we can try it when we are writing papers this semester haha?
