The Atari 5200 is, dare I say it, Atari's answer to Intellivision, Colecovision and the Astrocade. Why a new game system when Atari already had the 400 and 800 computer systems with far more power, memory, picture resolution and overall capability than any dedicated game unit? Well, reasoned the powers that be at Atari, "the game playing world just isn't ready for a real computer."

These days Nintendo has gamers flailing their arms around to the amusement of onlookers with the runaway success of the Wii. However before that Nintendo had it rough for a while. The Gamecube was completely leveled by the PS2 and original XBox and before the N64 backed the wrong horse by opting for cartridge games over the PS1 and its CD-ROM style games (which could hold much more information.) However before their downturn Nintendo ruled the landscape with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES.) Many still consider this the heyday of Nintendo games. With that in mind here's a look at the best this now retro system had to offer. This list isn't ranked due to its genre spanning nature.

This was Nintendo's last attempt to compete against the disk drive platforms with a cartridge platform. If Super Nintendo was only slightly better than the original NES then the N64 was light years ahead. entire 3D worlds could be rendered. Another part of the systems success was the expansion pak, a brand new more advanced processor that could be installed into the game to allow you to play more advanced games. Had the system lasted longer they may have introduced a second more advanced expansion pak. So what were it's five best games?

I was randomly thinking about what my favorite games are, and so then I thought, why not share it and maybe someone else will end up finding a new game to add to their favorites list.

I realized the other day that I've finally read my last "Best 10 arcade games of all time" list. They're very limited, and they tend to have the same games, listed over and over. Usually I don't agree with the choices, either. The games that I've been most passionate about over the years are generally ones that don't make it onto such lists. So here, without further ado, is an off-the-cuff list of the Best Arcade Games Ever. These are the games that, had I room, I would purchase and rebuild for a home arcade, as I wouldn't get tired of playing any of them.
