The Conversation is an independent source of information, analysis and commentary from the university and research sector. The articles are well balanced, edgy and very well written.

This is a great site for looking up an author or a book or when a student asks you when is so and so's new book is comming out or even working out where a book sits in a series. It lists all the books in a series that have been published, in order. It lists new book sor soon to be released books for the author

Gooru is a new service (still carrying the Alpha label) that aims to provide teachers and students with an extensive collection of videos, interactive displays, documents, diagrams, and quizzes for learning about topics in math and science.

A great Search Engine site, but with more features such as a Library of resource organised by subject area. Unfortunately very U.S. based, but for some subjects that wouldn't matter.

Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard. Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan events or collect and organise things they like that relate to different topics. Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

Trove is a discovery experience focused on Australia and Australians. It supplements what search engines provide. If you are researching in the fields of the social sciences, literature, local or family history, or need inspiration for your school assignment, then this is the tool for you. Fantastic short course which will introduce you to some of the advanced search techniques available using Google. Some you will be familiar with, others you may have forgotten and some will be completely new. The course is not currently open but all the course material is still available at this site.
