How to Grow Lemon Trees from Seed | Home Design, Garden & Architecture Blog Magazine - 0 views

  •
How would you like to have your very own lemon tree at home? This can be solved easily as you can grow your own lemon seeds and plant a tree wherever you want. We advice you to use organic lemon seeds for this project. Take one lemon, peel it and take out the seeds. Leave the seeds to dry. After that peel of the shell of each seed gently and make sure you leave the inside untouched. Buy a flower pot and soil and prepare it carefully, then plant the seeds. Add water to moisten the soil. Cover the soil entirely with pebbles and cover the flower pot with a plastic wrap. Find a warm place for the pot and leave it there. Once the lemon seeds begin to sprout remove the plastic wrap to leave enough space for your plant to grow. Don't forget to moisten to soil regularly. Be patient and take care of your plant as it will take a long time until the first lemon will appear. It usually takes around 8-10 years for the first

7 Wildlife Sanctuaries Where You Can Get Incredibly Close To Animals - 1 views

  •
Once you've been to an animal sanctuary, it's hard to go back to zoos. These conservation centers do away with cages, allowing their creatures to roam free while keeping them safe from predators-both animal and human. The result is a relaxed environment where visitors can get close to critters without upsetting any eco-systems or getting pecked to death by a stressed-out swan. That's a win for everyone

August Gardening Tips: Harvest Onions, Store Fruit, Sow Fall Veggies - 2 views

  •
August is the time to sow veggie seeds for a late summer or fall harvest: Lettuce, broccoli, beets, carrots, radishes, and other short-season crops. Shade lettuce, if possible, during late afternoon to keep young plants cooler, or grow them next to larger plants, such as tomatoes, that provide some shade. Shading is easy using white row cover over a frame or wire hoops. Water seedlings often, and mulch between rows to preserve moisture and block weed growth. Bear in mind that the date to maturity of late summer planted vegetables may be extended by as much as two weeks, due to the shortening length of

Amazing Salad Vertical Gardens | Home Design, Garden & Architecture Blog Magazine - 0 views

  •
you would like to have fresh salads in your kitchen all the time, without having to spend money on them, you should create this vertical salad planter. The cool thing about this planter is that it doesn't occupy a lot of space and you can place it almost anywhere in your garden. The planter will have removable shelves, so you can move the plants from one place to the other and even leave more space for others that require a larger area in order to grow. You will need pieces of wood that need to be assembled in the shape of the planter from the pictures. You can buy pre-cut wood, so it will be easier to work with it that way. Once you are ready, you can start growing your own lettuce and even strawberries if you want, as vertical planters

Container Herb Garden Ideas - 0 views

  •
With warmer weather finally arriving, I've shifted my attention to outdoor decorating and gardening as much as I can. Over the weekend, we were able to rake the front lawn and clean up the perennials in the front flower bed. Thankfully, my son is home from his first year of college and was a big help. I remember when he used to get out his little plastic gardening set as a toddler and get down to business (I think making more of mess than anything!). Wow, time flies, and now he's the one we get to trim the high tree branches because he towers both of us!

10 Inventive Methods for a Bumper Potato Harvest - 0 views

  •
It's no secret that the potato is a game changer. In Irish days of yore, its arrival supplied the impoverished populace with desperately needed nutrition. Its ability to grow in even the poorest soils caused these poor tenants to rely on it to their hurt. When a single potato crop failure led to the Great Potato Famine, a mass exodus from the famine's death and disease brought many of our Irish ancestors to the land of the free and the home of the brave

Lentils with Roasted Beets and Carrots - 0 views

have to tell you, I am reading the most fascinating book. It's actually what inspired me to make this recipe. It's called Eating On The Wild Side by Jo Robinson, and it's being hailed as the first book to reveal the nutritional history of fruits and vegetables. Ok, I admit this may not sound as riveting as a suspense thriller, but to a veggie-growing nutrition nerd like me, it's pretty much on par so I'm savoring every word. And here's what I learned that inspired me to whip up this dish: it turns out that beets and carrots become MORE nutritious when you cook them. Who knew? I sure didn't.

J is for... Jittery Journey to Joyous Java Juice {Caramel Mochaccino TASSIMO Recipe} | ... - 1 views

  •
You may have noticed, I'm a bit of a coffee junky. And my favourite poison, when enjoying a jaunt to the local coffee shop is a nice rich chocolatey mocha. Yum. So of course when I got a TASSIMO (back over 2 years ago now), the very first order of business was trying to make a decent mocha. I tried mixing a hot chocolate T-Disc with an espresso T-disc. I tried adding powdered instant hot chocolate to a cappuccino or a latte. I tried all sorts of concoctions. Nothing quite measured up to my expectations.

VegetableĀ Paella - Home - burgh baby - 0 views

  •
In an attempt to disprove the rumor that I only cook things that cause people to gain fifteen pounds just by looking at them, I thought it might be a good time to post the recipe for vegetable paella. It's something that I learned to make while I lived in Spain in high school. Alexis loves it more than just about anything else I conjure up for dinner, so hopefully someday I'll be able to sit on the couch, snap my fingers, and have her cook it while I pick my nose or something.

  •
Who has time to hand water the garden? Standing there with the hose in hand, one's mind drifts to all the other things that need doing.
