Parents need to know that Discovery Kids is an educational site that encourages discovering all the world has to offer. Articles cover topics about natural disasters, growing up, machines, continents, space, and much more. An activities page provides interactive ideas for recipes, making crafts, designing clothes, and experimenting with science. Games are age appropriate, challenging, and educational, and the online puzzles are fun and entertaining. I introduced my 3rd - 8th graders to this website with the provision that if they found it boring, they could go to BrainPop. Not a peep out of anyone for the full 40 minutes. They loved it!

I use this website for background music when my students are creating video and audio projects. Most tracks are free for educational use.

When I saw Kim Fiore's bookmark for Freeplay music, it made me think of Incompetech. There are so many different music styles. I used this almost exclusively with students. My son uses it for video games he creates and says he hears it in so many different games he downloads.

I liked this approach. It is a pedagogical approach with a technology layer.

Kodable is an app that prepares kids for their future in the digital world. It is designed to provide everything you need to teach the fundamentals of programming.

Storybird is a great free website. You can create a class account and student accounts. The students have to be creative because there are limited, but beautiful images to support the student writing.

Play fun kids games online at Sprout! Featuring TV characters like Caillou, Chica, Thomas, Barney, Tree Fu Tom, Zerby Derby, Astroblast and more! Good for preschool and early elementary.

Kids play free online educational games, test skills and knowledge about books, try out a writing activity, and express opinions in The Stacks. Great if students buy from scholastic with school.

You may not realize it, but if you use Google to find an image and then use it in a project, you're likely breaking the law. Unless you've been given permission to use the image by its creator, then you cannot legally or ethically use it. This would make an excellent lesson for advanced search and copyright for photos used in projects and reports
