Raymond Andrew on 03 Nov 10Oh my God. Lawsuit time. Useful evidence. What happens when things go wrong with tech. So what happens to the poor baby?

Goh Jing yaw on 04 Nov 10I think is human error that causes the sperm mixed up and not the fault of technology.

pl siah on 04 Nov 10if technology is advanced enough, there won't be human error cos techno is supposed to get things into place isn't it? i think that this is a good wake up call for us. It reminds us not to be over reliant on technology cos even such things can be messed up. I guess there is not much of a choice left but treat the child like their own? The baby is innocent.Since the parents decided to have an IVF baby, they should know that there are bound to be risks involved even though i don't understand how could the lab ever make such a mistake. I thought that they would have have the obligation to be very careful with the process since it involves a life but i guess it is human nature to err? :-/ Poor baby~

Joel Chen on 05 Nov 10It is not exactly the fault of technology as what Jing Yaw mentioned, there can be other factors that has caused this. According to Dr Cheng Li Chang, the son of the Owner of Thomson Medical Centre, he mentioned that there is only one IVF would be done a day. It could be the possibility that there was a mix up and labeling error. However, we must not entirely point fingers at the hospital. There is a minor possibility that the women might have slept around with other man and then accuse the hospital.

Goh Jing yaw on 05 Nov 10I think no matter how advanced technology can be, there will be some human actions involved just like people controlling robots' buttons to manufacture cars. I think joel think too far

pl siah on 05 Nov 10I agree with Jing yaw. It's how we manipulate technology to our advantages and so this is probably human error. Erm, why would a woman still sleep around if she is desperate enough to go for IVF? It is fairly obvious that she wants a baby of her husband and herself. It is not an easy process. It can be both emotionally and physically draining and it is not cheap either. Hence, i think it is most likely that the lab technician made an blunder somewhere.

Joel Chen on 05 Nov 10As what I mentioned earlier on, it is a minor possibility i.e. something far fetched but still can happen.

pl siah on 05 Nov 10but you did not manage to convince me why is there a minor possibility that it may happen. it's not like we don't understand what is a minor possibility haha.

Joel Chen on 05 Nov 10hahaha, Well a couple of factors man, however I primarily feel that there was a mix and a labelling mistake. It can also be a sabotage, thats second.xD
