A standalone app that lets you download content from webpages (optimised for Youtube). Once you have the video you can convert it to iPod format & even just grab the audio from the video. Very handy
Great collection of video tutorials related to SMART Notebook/SMARTBoards - Tutorials are windows-based, but skills taught are easily transferable to the mac.
this is a pretty cool site made by google which has video tutorials for mac and PC on basic skills, world wide web, communication, media and finding information. Is designed for parents, but would be useful for students, too!
Hey all - a beta you may be interested in ... You've probably already used 'Snag It' on a PC or other variations on a Mac - but this looks very user friendly ...
An interesting article about a small k12 school in Scotland who went from a 24 mac school, to a 1:1 iPad school. Shares some information about how they are managing the iPads, their approach to using them and some of the school's thoughts on their use. Worth a read.
"Welcome to Celestia
... The free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions. Celestia runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. "
Celestia is great - and it works in tandem with Stellarium - some more freeware - we started our students off with an examination of the Earth (Stellarium) and how it relates to the Solar System and then you can move on to Celestia - a chance to explore further out into space
http://www.stellarium.org/ check this out - we have both Stellarium and Celestia on the student image - "Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go." both freeware
This is a great applications for downloading multiple creative commons images from flickr at once. It is an Adobe Air application that you download and install on your computer, you then search for a tag, and it allows you to select up to 50 photos to download to your desktop. Would be really useful for primary and infants classes. It saves you time as you do not need to download each image individually.
