This is a great applications for downloading multiple creative commons images from flickr at once. It is an Adobe Air application that you download and install on your computer, you then search for a tag, and it allows you to select up to 50 photos to download to your desktop. Would be really useful for primary and infants classes. It saves you time as you do not need to download each image individually.
"This library contains thousands of digital movies uploaded by Archive users which range from classic full-length films, to daily alternative news broadcasts, to cartoons and concerts. Many of these videos are available for free download."
A school trialling the use of iPads in the classroom. They are supplying the students with iPads and letting them download and sync their iPads on home computers which is pretty interesting... Victorian Government initiative.
A standalone app that lets you download content from webpages (optimised for Youtube). Once you have the video you can convert it to iPod format & even just grab the audio from the video. Very handy
Another great blog entry on a new art site. Also includes some ideas on how to use the tool in the classroom. Creates some pretty cool abstract art, and very easy to save/download. Would work well on a SMARTBoard
Here is a great review of a new PBS website which allows you to create a habitat based on the needs to a fictional character. Once the students have finished creating the habitat, they could download it as a JPEG. Has some great tips on ways it could be useful in the classroom, too!
Created by Sellafield Nuclear Power Station, the Succeeding with Science website contains many different interactive activities and downloadable resources. There are resources here for both primary and secondary (and post-16) teachers on a number of different topics such as electricity, states of matter, carbon footprints and radioactivity.
Great collection of free children's books available online. The books are available in a dozen different languages and available to download in PDF format. Well worth a look
