I felt this brief posting says a lot in a very short, concise venue.  If you want to just read the last paragraph, that's fine, trust me it's worth it.

One function of that could be that 37 percent of Chinese parents said they provide funding for technology students use in schools, as opposed to 16 percent of American parents and 23 percent of German parents. Chinese students also indicate that they're more likely to integrate technology into all parts of the curriculum, as opposed to American students who say technology tends to be used for special assignments and research. Additionally, more Chinese students (80 percent) say they use technology for summer enrichment than U.S. students (62 percent)."

Collection of resources realted to iPads in K12 education curated by Kathy Schrock. There are lots of lists of suggested apps generated by multiple schools. if you have some time to spend just browsing, this seems a good place to start.

Recently, I was told by a teacher that she doesn't have time to teach digital citizenship because she has to cover too many other content-specific standards. I get it... the Common Core-state tests-AP/IB/SAT/ACT Madness eats up so much of our time.
