Central Oregon Field Burn. People were asking about my dragonfly photo, and how I was getting the bugs to stay still. Predators will wait for bugs or critters to run from the fire. This is the neighboring farm to the land our horses are on. This goes on every year! It is controlled and really it is either this, or chemicals.... I guess. For us with allergies it is not the best thing.

Oregon Sunset. Where this was taken some think is eastern Oregon, though it is still central Oregon.

Wild Young Bald Eagle. Still had brown within the white feathers.

I observe things. I caught one of the barn cats running off from me and the horses yesterday. The domestic cat , like other cat species, is very graceful. Very agile. I feel only in still photography can one really see just how graceful and agile they truly are!!

Our day yesterday was a lot of fun! The weather was ok , the highs in the 40's the lows in the 20's. According to our trucks outside weather gauge. It rained, it hailed and it snowed. So you can imagine blue skies were hard to find. Wildlife was not hard to find, like most days. They still need to eat regardless of the weather. We climbed down into the canyon to watch three bald eagles fish and do what they do. We climbed out back onto the road and seen a golden eagle in a tree. He took off as we watched him go further up into the canyon another pair of bald eagle came out of no where and started attacking the golden eagle in mid flight. It is said the Bald Eagle soars at 35-43 mph. We watched this and got in the truck to go where the action was. We seen the bald eagles attacking for a little bit when the golden eagle went up high, and started attacking the bald eagles one at a time!

Some beautiful, others not so much, but still different, or at least photographed in an unusual manner. The duomo in Milan doesn't look that ominous and certainly not that dark in real life.

When we left the house the temperature was in the teens, 14 or so. We headed to the creek to let the dogs out to play for a short time. It was really to cold out to let the dogs out of the warm truck for to long. These are some of the shots I got of the icy creek, It was really to cold to hold the camera still. I am a wimp when it comes to the cold! It did reach 25 degrees today in the sunshine!!

The mule deer have their own personalities. This is a given to us who watch them, photograph them. Here are some shots I got of the Mule Deer hiding behind the juniper trees and brush or peeking out of where they can to watch me watching them! One doe is so afraid she is still eating HAHA! The bucks are now loosing their antlers as seen in another one of my posts. I do worry for the young, it is winter time. Not a good time for young to be born or for the older young who are not experienced with getting away from hungry predators. But the way the world works when the older, experienced bucks are the ones the hunters want, leaving their duties to the younger inexperienced bucks.

I am very pleased to get these shots of this Northern Harrier. I got these a couple hours ago down the road where we have seen this bird and another or so in a pasture. These birds have been seen on private land and I do not trespass so when this opportunity arose today, while this Northern Harrier was not on the private land I took it! While doing my research on this bird I came to realize why this bird of prey had a problem being still for me. Blending in is what I try to do with the environment, but being quiet is another story. This bird realize on hearing as much as sight when hunting. This bird was hearing me coming! The male and female of the species look very different I found out as well. This Harrier is the male of the species. I thought this Northern Harrier was on some prey, however after looking over the photographs it appears to be on some grasses.

Oregon Western Meadowlark , I was tickled to finally get this meadowlark sitting still long enough for a photograph to be tak.....

This is from a local writer who just happens to still be in high school. He has been writing now for years and just this year has gotten the confidence to go public.This is his poem, with my central Oregon sunset photograph.

I got hooked on digital photography when our owner gave us his digital camera to use after he saw that we could add actual food pictures to our menus and promotional materials instead of just cliparts. The first round of pictures was really simple, real novice looking. The knob on the camera had this letters that was strange to me. Slowly but surely I learned how to use this different settings. Now my pictures look better, not great but better. Presently I have two cameras one a point and shoot type. And another slightly professional, a Sony. Our company has since changed the company camera which is in my care now. Its a Canon EOS 1000D and its great especially for closeup shots. I still do food shots for our menus and promotional materials but now I always bring my cameras around everywhere go.

Friday I was not around for Guy announced Thursday night we are heading out in the morning and to make sure battery is charging and my camera bag is ready to go!! The truck, the dogs everything was ready to go as I was still wiping sleep out of my eyes early Friday morning!

The notion that my creativity and productivity would be sapped by 'mommy brain' or that my professional development would stall because it would no longer be a priority, was (and still is) utterly sexist in my view. After all, nobody asks fathers how they will continue to be successful in their careers after having children.

When the silence met with space Sometimes words cannot describe what we see. Silence speaks and words can't. The beauty and serenity of nature is vastly appreciated by photographers worldwide. They religiously capture these mesmerizing moment of golden silence where there is no sound of cars, wind, bark, planes etc. And in this moment of tranquility, photographers unconsciously become more aware of the power of nature because of the absolute stillness and quietness. It is as if nature is speaking to them.

Laurent Ponce came back, in last January, from a trip in Myanmar. To remember forever the faces of the people he met there and who have marked him deeply, he did a series of portraits showing inhabitants and passer-by he ran into. He explains that although it's an evolving country, the people still live a traditional life. For instance, they wear longyi (long skirt), puts thanaka (white-yellow cosmetic powder), hunt and fishing, and chew plants called Betels.
