I thought the article wasn't the most detailed but it still outlined ways of helping people in poverty

I think that this article had some good ideas for helping to stop poverty. It also had links to organizations that help end poverty. The article really showed me how easy it is for us to use organizations to help the world.

it shows challenges of world poverty and the solutions. One example is the rich gets richer and the poor get poorer. Throughout the 1990s, hungry people rose by 18 million. 4 million a year and 25,000 people die from poverty. I think that the rich gets richer and the poor get poorer is not all true, because some people donate money to poor people.

Gives percantage of children living in poverty and the effects of poverty on children. It also includes what the federal poverty line is. I was shocked by how many kids are living in poverty and how strongly it affects almost all aspects of their lives.

I thought it was really interesting when they said that the children living in poverty that go to school can't learn because they have problems at home that keep them from reaching their potential in school. This reminded my about maslows heirarchy and how if they don't have a strong base(home) everything else will fall apart.

One in every three adults will experience extreme poverty at least one year of their adult life. 6.8 of these extremely poor people are men, with the women making up the difference of 9.1 million.

The burdens of PRDs, especially HIV/AIDS, which today more than 40 million people are infected with AIDS, and many of them are in sub-Saharian Africa. Malaria, and Tuberculosis (TB), also TB remains the leading cause od morbidity and mortality world-wide, accounting for more than 2 million human lives every year. The annual global death toll of these three diseases approaches 6 million people and, in some African countries HIV infected 40% of the entire population. But the European Commision has propposed to support a long-term partnership between Europe and developing countries by providing $200 million for development of new medicines and vaccines to fight these three diseases. Thus the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnershipm(EDCTP) brings together EU Member States plus Norway, developing countries and industry in a joint effort to combat PRDs. Fighting thses diseases will also be one of the most effective ways to alleviate poverty and promote economic progress in DCs. My opinion of this article is that it's brilliant, knowing that U.S. is not alone and that countries are coming together to stop thess diseases and poverty problems alike. I hope this article would be an insperation to teh U.S. and other countries, that are facing poverty and the horrific effects of the grotisque "plague!"

Pretty much just some statistics on poverty and hunger in the US. One fact i thought was suprising was "Nearly one in four children is at risk of hunger. Among African-Americans and Latinos, one in three children is at risk of hunger."

This site talked about ways to help with poverty. I liked how it listed different sites you could go to for more information and besides that really just educated the reader. I feel that it's format could have been different though so as not to bore the reader.

That is rediculous how many people die every year from poverty! I cant even begin to imagine what it would be like to live in a situation like those people were in. Not having enough food, or a warm place to sleep at night

This article talks about poverty around the world and gives statistics. I was shocked when it said that 1 child dies every four seconds due to poverty. 15 children die every minute.

I was completly shocked at what this article had to say. I was not happy with the notion that every four seconds a child dies and most likely it is causes realates to poverty. I want to help those in need. The pictures that they had of the children made my heart ache. I know that we might not save every child in the world but maybe we can reduce those numbers.

Definatly a eye-opening article. The first few lines of text were like a bomb to the heart. It's just so sad that so many children are dying, and that there is no clear, easy solution.

It really scares me to know that one child dies every five seconds from hunger. Also, it was eye-opening to see that 9 million kids die of hunger before their fifth birthday. I think it's really unfair that someone that young has to go through such living.

925 million people are hungry. They cant put food on their tables. I think we take it for granted. We always have food in our fridges, we always have food on our tables. We need to appreciate more for what we get. Next time our moms put something on the table we don't like, you should still appreciate that you get food in your bodies. There are millions people out there that would do anything for just a thing of spinach.

Knowing that women are the poorest gender is both outragoious and agreeable. Since women are the care takers in the family. But losing 85% of calories getting water, is unhealthy and sad.

i think that if women got the same oppritunties as men like in jobs and education, there would be less problem with poverty in women.

This article describes how addiction can cause poverty and how poverty can make addiction worse. The article trys to make it clear that you shouldn't stereo type that all poor people are addicts. I thought that was a good point to make because this is a pretty common sterotype for people to believe.
