  • Agriculture produces about eight percent of emissions.
  • The large increase in the use of nitrogen fertilizer for the production of high nitrogen consuming crops like corn has increased the emissions of nitrous oxide.
  • . Dairy cattle and swine produce about 85 percent of the methane emissions. Methane emissions will increase as the number of large scale livestock confinement systems increases.

Climate Change and Global Warming Introduction - Global Issues - 0 views

  • An increase in pests and disease is also feared.
  • A report in the journal Science in June 2002 described the alarming increase in the outbreaks and epidemics of diseases throughout the land and ocean based wildlife due to climate changes.

  • It has been known for some time know that developing countries will be affected the most. Reasons vary from lacking resources to cope, compared to developed nations, immense poverty, regions that many developing countries are in happen to be the ones where severe weather will hit the most, small island nations area already seeing sea level rising, and so on.
  •
Nations that contribute most to climate change vs. nations most affected by it. Also mentions increased level of pest problems and disease due to global warming

Great connections to 5th grade weather unit and ocean floor portion of aquatic biome unit
  • bottom of the Arctic Ocean controls the pattern of sea ice thousands of feet above on the water’s surface.
  • The seafloor influences the distribution of cold and warm waters in the Arctic Ocean where sea ice can preferentially grow or melt. Geological features on the ocean bottom also guide how the sea ice moves, along with influence from surface winds.
