Paul Thomas Anderson - Symmetrical framing and shot composition - 2 views

  •
I thought this would complement Mr Williamson's bookmark about dopplegangers and mirrors in film directed by Aronofsky. There's seems to be something deliberately mannered in this kind of motif in the oeuvre ( if, given their limited numbers of films, might be described as such) of each of these directors

Notes on the Auteur Theory - 1 views

  •
I was doing some research for my EE related to the Auteur theory and I found a really helpful extract of Andrew Sarris's notes on Auteur theory which are annotated and underlined, so you get the main thesis of Andrew Sarris's auteur theory.
  •
It's also pretty short and clear, especially compared to Truffaut's original article which is 10 pages, translated, and uses a lot of vague language.
  •
That's great Jun. Sarris is such an important figure in US film history as he popularised and critiqued the importance of auteurism leading into the fierce debates about authorship in the 70s.
