You are probably already familiar with John Green's Crash Course web series, but if not, he gives really great perspectives on historical topics that tend to give a different secondary point of view from the typical textbook. His Renaissance video is especially interesting.
It doesn't have any dates, but it is cool to see how political/territorial boundaries have changed over the last millennia. You can try to get your students to see if they can identify the time period based on the size of certain nations.
