After reading the Standards of Good Practice for the field, I wonder how we can promote education abroad in our public schools. It should be connected with language learning, but many public schools are dropping language programs and now it is causing language programs to be in jeopardy at the college level. By going abroad, students can practice their language skills and learn about the culture as well.

International Children's Digital Library - 3 views

  •
The mission of the International Children's Digital Library Foundation (ICDL Foundation) is to support the world's children in becoming effective members of the global community - who exhibit tolerance and respect for diverse cultures, languages and ideas -- by making the best in children's literature available online free of charge. The Foundation pursues its vision by building a digital library of outstanding children's books from around the world and supporting communities of children and adults in exploring and using this literature through innovative technology designed in close partnership with children for children.

As a certified language teacher, I enjoyed looking at this site and seeing the availability of children's books in different languages. It is not easy to find children's books in different languages at reasonable prices. It is also sometimes very difficult to find books in some languages. Students love to use technology and I think this is a great way for students to practice their language learning skills.
