Heads up on a local technology event, February 16th, at 5:30pm at Wealthy Street Theater. Keith Brophy will be discussing new tech trends for 2011 that will effect the way we do business, connect with one another, and what we can look forward to in the future. I've heard of these presentations before, and that they are both entertaining and interesting. If I didn't have night classes, I'd probably be going!

Jumo - The Facebook of Nonprofits - 0 views

This looks to be a really interesting way to get people connected with Nonprofits. Using your Facebook account, you hook up with Jumo to connect to organizations you care about, and maximize your potential in doing work for them. Founded in February 2010 by one of the founders of Facebook itself, Jumo is still a work in progress. It appears to be a really streamlined way to get involved, and would be an excellent way to get volunteers for any organization.

Despite the outstanding growth of places like Facebook and Twitter, the majority of information on the internet is still shared via e-mail. Crafting a newsletter for your organization remains to be the easiest way to get in touch with contributors and other interested parties. The age discrepancy has to be something to overcome, and in that sense, e-mail still covers the largest percentage of users worldwide. As a young person, it may be hard to remove yourself from the Twitter and Facebook dominated world, but more times than not the old ways still work the best.
