Quick Guide to Gamification - Online Universities.com - 0 views

  •
"This all sounds amazing, but it won't happen until game developers and educators can come together to create educational games that have rich content and the strong engagement that is currently only seen in the best commercial games. The real gamification of education is going to take years of serious effort to make happen, but that doesn't make it any less fun to think about right now. "

I have just completed this course. It was good for the background knowledge and access to resources, video etc. I would use it in conjunction with what I have researched is happening in schools. I feel more confident to apply the principles to my teaching.

The Pedagogies in Game Based Learning: A Case Study of Teacher Attitudes & Perceptions ... - 0 views

  •
"As some of you may know I'm studying a Masters in Technology in Learning and have been focusing on Serious Games. I wanted to share my project with the community! I built a Serious Game using a platform called ThinkingWorlds to showcase the pedagogies in games and to investigate how teacher attitudes and perceptions changed before and after playing the game. If you are interested you can play the game itself, PC only I'm afraid. Instructions for playing can be found here: http://portaldust.com/seriousgames/installation/"

"Over the past few weeks, I have been leveraging Zotero heavily in my work and general information curation. With deadlines knocking on my door I know I have to be organised. So while I make extensive use of Diigo and Delicious, as well as Evernote, when it comes to the serious academic stuff Zotero has to come up trumps."

The Best RSS Reader - 2 views

  •
Feed readers are the only efficient way to consume content on the web. There are lots of readers out there to help you manage, organize and keep up to date on all the latest news, posts and updates from your favorite sites. The interface and features between different readers may vary slightly, but they mostly all feel the same to me.  Because of this I've stuck with Google Reader, lacking the motivation required to export, import and re-organize all my feeds in a new place. Despite sticking with Google Reader, managing my feeds has always been a daunting chore. I hate the daily sifting through mounds of unread content. It wasn't until last year when I discovered Feedly, that my relationship with my RSS reader changed.
