The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has announced its "Top Ten in '10" education technology priorities for the New Year. These priorities offer policy makers and educators a prospective framework for consideration as legislative and funding decisions are made.

"The School 2.0 eToolkit is designed to help schools, districts and communities develop a common education vision for the future and to explore how that vision can be supported by technology." The site contains a range of resources including the Learning Ecosystem Map that is accessible in both an interactive form as well as a poster. The map is a work in progress that you can create an account to add to. The site also has a range of other tool and toolkits that school administrators and technology and other co-ordinators can use to develop their own understanding of School 2.0.

Looking at the use of apps like Foursquare and Gowalla to geotag this article picks up on both the positives and negatives. A great read keeping in mind the process in which other similar technologies develop and grow.

Written from an educationalist's perspective each 2 page pdf follows a similar format comprising A scenario What the Technology is Who's using it How it works Why its significant What the downsides are Where its going and Implications for Teaching and Learning Check out the ever expanding collection.

The content and technology are continually changing. This article reminds us that learners are also changing. For the past decade, faculty who won awards for teaching expressed concern that they could no longer hold the attention of their students. John Seely Brown, Chief Scientist at Xerox and director of its Palo Alto Research Center, hired 15 year olds to design future work environments and learning environments. He observed that the students did not conform to the traditional image of learners as permissive sponges. It requires us to rethink and redesign education for the Digital Age.

NEW internet technologies like twitter are strengthening family ties and bridging the generation gap between kids, parents and grandparents, according to a new survey. The findings fly in the face of concerns the internet is driving a wedge between families and alienating parents from their kids. According to the Norton Online Living Report, released today, tools like twitter, Facebook, Skype, webcams, photo and video sharing sites and instant messaging are keeping families connected.

This page has all manner of links and embeds related to Twitter including slideshare, YouTube, Prezi and e-books. The author list includes Jane Hart, Tomaz Lasic and Dean Shareski. Though it is quite comprehensive, because it has so many embeds the page can take quite a little time to load up.

This slideshare from upsidelearning.com is a really challenging introduction to the world of mobile learning. Though the focus is on higher ed and training the sentiments are applicable to all levels of education and is well worth a look.

Think Before You Upload is a great new animation from Privacy Victoria which aims to highlight the possible risks for young people of using on-line technologies such as social networking and gaming sites. It explores a number of familiar scenarios in a humorous way to re-inforce the need to consider the consequences of uploading to the interent. The only pity is that it is at present only available in a Flash version without any embed code.

This Google site, (what else :), from Jennifer Dorman, a Google Certified Teacher is designed as a clearinghouse of Google resources to support her Google Boot Camp workshops. It is so far the most comprehensive Google resource I have seen.
