Powered by Google this "instant" search portal searches the Web, images, news, video, Twitter and Google Maps. Though it is slower to react than single focussed searches, because it aggregates results across a range of reference types it is still useful. To find out more check out the video link in the bottom right corner of the search screen.

KidRex - Kid Safe Search Engine - 0 views

KidRex is a fun and safe search for kids, by kids! KidRex searches emphasize kid-related webpages and are powered by Google Custom Search and use Google SafeSearch technology. Google's SafeSearch screens for sites that contain explicit sexual content and deletes them from your child's search results. Google's filter uses advanced technology to check keywords, phrases, and URLs. No filter is 100 percent accurate, but SafeSearch should eliminate most inappropriate material.

TinEye Reverse Image Search - 0 views

This is one to keep an eye on. If you want to check out where an image may have come from or to see if one of your images has been used elsewhere then this is the tool to use. At present the database is small so you may not yet find the details you are looking for but as they say, watch this space.... "TinEye is a reverse image search engine. You can submit an image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions. TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks."

Backtype is yet another search engine this time looking to mine "real time web based conversations". A quick check suggests that though it does quite a good job of checking through social media such as blogs and Facebook the Chatter search on the side panel misses most of the Twitter traffic. Worth a look though.

Study Search Australia - 0 views

studysearch.com.au is a customised Google search engine developed for Australian Primary and Secondary school students. studysearch.com.au uses the power of Google's search engine combined with a growing database of educational websites. When a search is done Google checks our database and gives those sites priority in the search results. The student is still doing a full Google search but the results are tuned to display sites that are more relevant.

This wiki was created to easily help educators find other educators on Twitter that have the same interests as them (that teach in the same content area). Check out the list of educators on the pages linked below and add your Twitter name to the appropriate list too.
