In recent years, smartphones have become so good at recording video that they can successfully compete with standalone cameras, at least when it comes to shooting non-professional video. Of course, if you want your videos to look great, you'll usually need an expensive, 4K-capable handset.

Apple has come a long way since introducing video recording with the iPhone 3Gs. The newest iPhones can shoot stunning 4K footage, but if you just pull your iPhone out of your pocket and hit record, you won't take full advantage of everything this powerful camera can do.

Edublogs is a free blogging network that lets students view posts by their teachers. It gives access to email, media, and other posts for the classroom availability to expand beyond school hours.

Edublogs.org is not only a platform for teachers to create blogs that invite participation from students and parents, but is also an environment for teachers to learn from other teachers through blogging.

This is a very popular and engaging network for teachers. Eye-catching graphics, hashtags, and pictures share what it means to be a teacher working towards developing a better world. Teachers in this community enthusiastically share their experiences, concerns, and visions, and seem to want to connect to realize their full potential as educators.

This is a very information-rich site that further introduces the PLN and delves into several different avenues a teacher can take in developing their PLN, with one avenue explored being Twitter. I particularly found the Step 6: Curation page to be intriguing. This page introduces curation, the strategic collection and compilation of knowledge and media found online, and demonstrates how it can be a valuable tool for educators engaged in expanding and sharing their constant learning and teaching journeys (See the video towards the middle of the page where a teacher shows his netvibes and scoopit accounts, and the very complex ways in which teachers can organize and share knowledge from these information collection/filtering tools. VERY valuable for our fast-paced and information-heavy time.)

Here's a brief article about three additional PLN sites for teachers (one of the four is Twitter). Teaching Channel allows teachers to watch other teachers in the classroom and to share their own lessons; Digital Is is a professional development site purposed with fostering teachers' tech literacy.

This resource is a twitter page where Oklahoma teachers can connect to share their ideas, classrooms, and issues important to them (such as those regarding the state of the education system). Although it contains a lot of discussion about the education system, the twitter page describes itself to be "non-political" and a place that "brings OK educators together" through constructive dialogue.

With this website teachers and administrators can create their own website for free. You can design your page and share as many pages to interact with teachers and students.
