D2L is a Learning Management System (LMS) that we here at OSU know quite well thanks to the Online Classroom. It is a great way to connect all of your students into the class. You can do online quizzes, synchronous communication, asynchronous communication, upload syllabi and other content, etc.
Pearson gives great detail as to why teachers should use virtual field trips which falls into the category of educational websites or resources used in the classroom. Not only does this help the teacher collect their resources but it also helps him or her save the sources and share with others in a creative fashion.
This website includes details about how each individual in the classroom can benefit by using Diigo, and it also includes a video located at the bottom of the page.
Beyond extended student learning, Diigo can be used as a form of professional development. Diigo has several educator groups that are active in sharing and collaborating on bookmarks relevant to education. This group has almost 10,000 members. You can find over 200 other Diigo K-12 education groups here.
This website is great for those teachers newly using Diigo as a technology resource for their classroom. Exploring this website really helped give me the basics and help me brain storm ideas for my classroom.
Virtual Field trips are a fun and inexpensive way to explore a different place of the world! Whether is be going back in time, outer space, or visiting the wonder microscopic world! It provides many of the same benefits as a real life field trip would.
