What Parents Want out of a Class Website - 0 views

  •
This website gives examples of the various things that parents want out of a classroom website. It also provides more examples of classroom websites for a guideline of how successful ones operate. This is beneficial to this lesson because it is important to remember that parents are active components of the classroom and they deserve to be kept in the loop and involved in the day-to-day activities of the class. This website provides ideas and evidence to promote a classroom community involving all parties.

I found this particular twitter page very resourceful to early childhood education teachers. Ms. Graboski, the owner of this page, likes to share teaching ideas on this page and post pictures of her students learning through fun games and activities. This is great place where parents can tune in and see what their children are working on in class.

Teachers open up about the (mostly lousy) economics of their dream job | ideas.ted.com - 0 views

  • “I am grateful for my job. I think I earn a fair income. But I am very busy, and I feel like I need much more time: time to talk with students and parents, time to teach, and time at home to take care of my family.”
  • “I have one major frustration with working as a teacher: Education policy is seemingly run as a wishful thinking project, where politicians draw a path for pupils they don’t understand on a map they haven’t seen. I wish we teachers would have more aggressively participate in forming education policy.”
  • I love my job. I really, truly do, and did not enter it for the pay. But if I quit tomorrow, and went to work for Aflac, I would make more. If I took home about $500 USD more, I think it would be a fair income.
