This is so great! A list like this and the tools on it are the kinds of resources that do the most work, I think, towards multiplying access to education. I'm excited to explore all of these - thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this rich resource. I echo my colleagues' enthusiasm of this initiative. It seems like a great starting place for collaborators with all different backgrounds to come, develop and explore OER's.

This is a very useful list. My favourite new resource from this list is LeMill. The tools section is a vast and diverse resource for a wide range of free apps and services.

Many Open Education Resources (OER) have been introduced by governments, universities, and individuals within the past few years. OERs provide teaching and learning materials that are freely available and offered online for anyone to use. Whether you're an instructor, student, or self-learner, you have access to full courses, modules, syllabi, lectures, assignments, quizzes, activities, games, simulations, and tools to create these components.

Thanks. An extensive list of resources. It may have been easier to use the list if it wasn't categorised only alphabetically but also further grouped into categories. It's still a valuable collection.

Home - Mahara ePortfolio System - 1 views

  •
Mahara is an open source ePortfolio and social networking web application. It provides users with tools to create and maintain a digital portfolio of their learning and social networking features to allow users to interact with each other.

Public library project - what you think about this approach ? - 0 views

  •
It's one of those almost invisible infrastructures that we start to notice only once they go extinct. A place where all people can get access to all knowledge that can be collected seemed for a long time a dream beyond reach - dependent on the limited resources of rich patrons or unstable budgets of (welfare) states.

The Open Access Schism: Recapitulating Open Source? - 4 views

' ... licensing really does go to the heart of what open access means ...'
  •
Open source and Open Access They are quite similar terms and with a common philosophy, give freedom to the user to use the share as he wills material. Interestingly both the open source and open access are four levels: Levels of open source 1 Level 0: Freedom to use the code 2 Level 1: Freedom of study code 3 Level 2: Freedom to study it and / or modify 4 Level 3: Freedom to redistribute (with or without changes) Levels of free access 1 Reuse all or part of the material for their own purposes 2 Sharing work with other 3 Power revise, adapt, change, and / or translate the shared work 4 Mix two or more existing sources and combine them to create something new As you can see they are very similar and can cause confusion, and believe they are the same. The authors are open access, public and / or private who wish to retain their copyright while the free code can be found that there is so much trouble (at least I think).
