The Access Group Center for Research & Policy Analysis conducts research and provides grants that address some of the most critical issues facing legal education today, including enhancing access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds; increasing the affordability and financing options for students pursuing legal education; and expanding the value and relevance of legal education. To that end, the center's Legal Education Diversity Pipeline Grant Program awards grants of up to $125,000 to current or proposed programs that provide effective interventions designed to enhance access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds, specifically historically underrepresented minority students and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Projects should address the issue of enhanced access to legal education at the national level, or encompass more localized efforts that might be efficiently scaled across institutions and regions for greater impact. Applications from programs that display a collaborative approach and strong partnerships with other organizations are encouraged.

Through its Fellowship Programs, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation's college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.

The Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Department of Religious Diversity in Göttingen is offering The Ph.D. fellowships are for 3-4 years. The dissertation will be defended at Utrecht University. The postdoctoral fellowships are for one or two years. The research will be done in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in China at Minzu University in Beijing. The projects have to be on the following topics: 1. As part of broader university-wide diversity and inclusion efforts, the Office of the President and the Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship (OARS) have issued a special call for proposals to conduct research, scholarship, or creative activities in the areas of social justice, human rights, diversity, and inclusion. Proposals may be submitted in any of these areas, but must address a scholarly question that will lead to testable objectives or measurable outcomes.

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is pleased to offer a limited number of conference grants. These grants will be used to subsidize the cost of attendance for individuals to attend either CUR Dialogues 2015: Climbing the Ladder to Funding Success: Diverse Sources, Diverse Pathways or Undergraduate Research Programs: Building, Enhancing, Sustaining. Nominees are asked to provide contact and demographic information, a statement of expenses, a statement describing financial need, and a statement on expected outcomes from attending the conference. Historically under-represented groups and first-time attendees will be given priority. The review committee will work to ensure awardees represent a diverse subset of the applicants, specifically across discipline/CUR Division and geographic location. Awardees will receive the conference grant as a rebate after their confirmed participation in the conference, and the submission of reimbursement paperwork.

Burma: Supporting Inclusive Civic Awareness and Engagement across Diverse Communities

The Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur will help select the Malaysian partner institution and vet participants in the content production training. The U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur will be closely involved in the grant administration. The Embassy is seeking an organization with experience in creating CVE-focused programs and content in Malaysia to produce documentaries, podcasts, and social media posts effective in countering violent extremism. A successful proposal will integrate the training of a diverse collection of young, local talent to produce their own content effective in supporting CVE efforts. Specific Objectives: 1. Production of at least three documentaries (video, radio and/or online) focused on contemporary domestic/regional issues related to extremism in Malaysia. 2. The project should provide for the training of a diverse collection of Malaysian content designers, representing several backgrounds, to produce effective CVE-focused content. 3. The proposal should include a plan to publicize the content throughout the country in a wide variety of distribution channels including: a. National/regional media b. Road Shows c. Radio d. Online

The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs Division, of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces an open competition for the Youth Leadership Program with Burma. Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to conduct three- to four-week U.S.-based exchange programs for teenagers and adult educators. Participants will be high-school-aged youth and adult educators. Applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 17-18 youth and 2-3 adult participants from Burma. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, leadership, diversity, and community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need.

Grants of up to $125,000 for up to eighteen months will be awarded to projects that directly improve or, in the case of research-oriented projects, develop data, facts, or conclusions that further the understanding of improving access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds; increasing the affordability and financing options for students pursuing legal education; and enhancing the value and relevance of legal education.

The National Endowment for Democracy is a private nonprofit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world. Each year, the endowment makes more than twelve hundred grants to support the projects of nongovernmental groups abroad that are working for democratic goals in over nineties countries. To advance this mission, NED is seeking proposals for projects that advance democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions. Grants of up to $50,000 over twelve will be awarded in support of nonpartisan programs that seek to promote and defend human rights and the rule of law, support freedom of information and independent media, and promote accountability and transparency. To be eligible, applicants must be nongovernmental organizations, including civic organizations, associations, independent media, and other similar groups. Applications are encouraged from organizations working in diverse environments, including newly established democracies, semi-authoritarian countries, highly repressive societies, and countries undergoing democratic transition.

The European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme is an international researcher mobility programme offering 10-month residencies in one of the 16 participating Institutes: Berlin, Bologna, Brussels, Budapest, Cambridge, Delmenhorst, Freiburg, Helsinki, Jerusalem, Lyon, Marseille, Paris, Uppsala, Vienna, Wassenaar, Zürich. The Institutes for Advanced Study support the focused, self-directed work of outstanding researchers. The fellows benefit from the finest intellectual and research conditions and from the stimulating environment of a multi-disciplinary and international community of first-rate scholars. EURIAS Fellowships are mainly offered in the fields of the humanities and social sciences but may also be granted to scholars in life and exact sciences, provided that their proposed research project does not require laboratory facilities and that it interfaces with humanities and social sciences. The diversity of the 16 participating IAS offers a wide range of possible research contexts in Europe for worldwide scholars. Applicants may select up to three IAS outside their country of nationality or residence as possible host institutions. The Programme welcomes applications worldwide from promising young scholars as well as from leading senior researchers. The EURIAS selection process has proven to be highly competitive. To match the Programme standards, applicants have to submit a solid and innovative research proposal, to demonstrate the ability to forge beyond disciplinary specialisation, to show an international commitment as well as quality publications in high-impact venues. For the 2014-2015 academic year, EURIAS offers 39 fellowships (20 junior and 19 senior positions).

This fellowship is open to outstanding young professors from universities from developing and emerging countries pursuing advanced research in areas bridging the fields of international and development studies, broadly defined, and working in disciplines such as anthropology, history, law, politics and political science, and economics.  Scholars will spend one academic semester (mandatory duration: 3 months minimum - 5 months maximum) at the Institute to : Share their expertise and experience with students and professors at the Institute ; Further a personal research project ; Participate in teaching courses ; Update and strengthen the curriculum of their course ; Develop their contacts with the international community of the Institute and Geneva area. Scholars receive a contribution towards living expenses. The Scholarship also covers round trip travel to and accommodation in Geneva. The selection will be based on the quality of research. Quality being equal, selection may be guided by an interest in promoting gender and regional diversity. Candidates should demonstrate how their research stay will contribute to their academic career and their home institution.

The Medici Archive Project (MAP) wishes to provide graduate and doctoral students from diverse disciplines with the opportunity to have exposure to original source materials and training in their use. For this reason MAP is offering five short-term fellowships sponsored by the SAMUEL FREEMAN CHARITABLE TRUST (SFCF) for graduate students in any field of the humanities or social sciences who are in the early stages of their dissertation work. The SFCF fellowships have been developed to enable students working on their dissertations to conduct primary research using the Mediceo del Principato and other collections housed in the Archivio di Stato in Florence. This scholarly residence will be of considerable benefit in helping the students to gain the necessary skills, experience and confidence to continue independent academic research in the later stages of their graduate trajectory. While undertaking primary research for their dissertation in the Florentine state archives, the Fellows will benefit from the supervision of the MAP Staff, academics drawn from a variety of disciplines who are experts in archival research, paleography and the digital humanities. The Fellows will also have the opportunity to expand their academic networks through contact with the many international scholars who regularly visit and collaborate with MAP. Finally, Fellows will be enrolled in the annual MAP Archival Studies Seminar. The fellowships last for an uninterrupted period of two-and-a-half months, taking place at any point between 1 January 2014 and 15 July 2014. The SFCT Fellows will undertake their dissertation research on-site in the Archivio di Stato. The candidates will have the following qualifications: a completed M.Phil (or equivalent) in any field of early modern humanities and fluency in English and Italian.

The Mechanics of Materials program supports fundamental research on the behavior of solid materials and respective devices under external actions.?? A diverse and interdisciplinary spectrum of research is supported with emphasis placed on fundamental understanding that i) advances theory, experimental, and/or computational methods in Mechanics of Materials, and/or ii) uses contemporary Mechanics of Materials methods to address modern challenges in material and device mechanics and physics. Proposed research can focus on existing or emerging material systems across time and length scales. Intellectual merit typically includes advances in fundamental understanding of deformation, fracture, fatigue, and contact through constitutive modeling, multiscale and multiphysics analysis, computational methods, or experimental techniques.??Recent interests comprise, but are not limited to:?? contemporary materials including multiphase materials and material systems, soft materials, active materials, low-dimensional materials, phononic/elastic metamaterials, friction, wear;??multiphysics methods, mechanics at the nano, meso and microscale and multiscale integration thereof, as well as approaches incorporating fundamental understanding of physics and chemistry into the continuum-level understanding of the response characteristics of materials and material systems.

The Kennan Institute seeks fellowship applicants from diverse, policy-oriented sectors such as media, business, local government, law, civil society, and academia to examine important political, social, economic, cultural, and historical issues in Russia, Ukraine, and the region. Among the aims of the new fellowships are to build bridges between traditional academia and the policy world, as well as to maintain and increase collaboration among researchers from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S.

The American Educational Research Association is accepting applications for its AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education Research. The annual program provides support for doctoral dissertation research, to advance education research by outstanding minority graduate students, and to improve the quality and diversity of university faculties. The fellowship offers doctoral fellowships to enhance the competitiveness of outstanding minority scholars for academic appointments at major research universities. It supports fellows conducting education research and provides mentoring and guidance toward the completion of their doctoral studies. The dissertation study should focus on an education research topic such as high-stakes testing; ethnic studies/curriculum; tracking; STEM development; measurement of achievement and opportunity gaps; English-language learners; or bullying and restorative justice. Applicants can come from graduate programs and departments in education research, the humanities, or social or behavioral science disciplinary or interdisciplinary fields such as economics, political science, psychology, or sociology.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to improve access to information for journalists and civil society in accordance with Afghanistan's Access to Information Law. Based on funding availability, this grant intends to develop and provide training for journalists and members of civil society on access to information procedures under Afghan law. The recipient will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the current legal framework surrounding access to information in Afghanistan, and create a strategic plan that will increase awareness of the law and how to use it. Participants will become more aware of the law, how it works, and how to make access to information requests. A successful proposal will include a detailed plan for recruiting a diverse group of journalists from a variety of outlets and employees from a cross-section of civil society organizations working on democracy and governance issues to take part in these trainings. Training activities should take place in Kabul and in no less than five provincial capitals.

The U.S. Mission in Iraq announces an open competition for eligible organizations to submit proposals to develop and implement the English Access Microscholarship Program for Kirkuk and Tikrit. Public Affairs Office (PA) seeks to provide Iraqi youth with educational opportunities through English-language instruction in accordance with Mission Iraq goals. The English Access Microscholarship Program for Kirkuk and Tikrit will provide a foundation of English language skills to economically disadvantaged, demographically diverse, 13 to 16 year-old students through after-school or weekend classes and intensive summer activities over a two-year period. Access Program students also gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, increase their ability to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and gain the ability to compete for and participate in future U.S. Government-sponsored educational programs. Subject to the availability of funds, the Embassy expects to award a grant up to $193,000 to carry out the English Access Microscholarship Program for Kirkuk and Tikrit over a twenty-four month time frame.
