Leidos will match high-scoring, unfunded National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposals with private biomedical foundations and/or industries seeking to fund promising research. Foundations will have access to peer-reviewed research proposals that directly relate to their funding priorities, industry will have access to a rich pipeline of early stage and translational research proposals that align with its priorities, while applicants with strong research proposals will be provided with a second opportunity to secure funding. The foundations, industries, applicants, and NIH all will benefit from this synergy.

The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that address the needs of Syrians survivors of torture and other gross human rights violations (GHRV), including released political prisoners and their families. Projects should focus on the mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), medical, legal, and human rights documentation sectors, with specific attention focused on issues faced by recently released political prisoners and other Syrian survivors of gross human rights violations.

With this Dear Colleague Letter, NSF is providing advance notice of a change in the eligibility of prospective applicants to the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) to allow the community to plan accordingly. Effective as of the 2017 competition (Fall 2016 deadlines), NSF will limit graduate students to only one application to the GRFP, submitted either in the first year or in the second year of graduate school. No change is made to the eligibility of undergraduates, of bachelor's degree holders without any graduate study, or of individuals who have had an interruption in graduate study of at least two consecutive years.

NIJ's New Investigator/Early Career Program provides support for non-tenured assistant professors to conduct applied research on topics relevant to NIJ's Office of Research and Evaluation (ORE) including justice systems, violence and victimization, and/or crime control and prevention. Applications must propose research led by a Principal Investigator (PI) who: was awarded a terminal degree within the four (4) years prior to September 30, 2016; holds a non- tenured assistant professor position at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States; and has not previously served as PI on an NIJ research grant or fellowship. his funding opportunity announcement (FOA) supports the development and testing of pragmatic strategies for assessing the quality of the delivery of psychosocial interventions (defined here as provider-delivered behavioral, cognitive, interpersonal or other psychosocial/psychotherapeutic approaches) for the treatment or prevention of mental health disorders.  Specifically, this FOA supports (1) the initial development of pragmatic tools and strategies to assess the quality of delivery of psychosocial interventions and (2) psychometric testing of the assessment strategy to examine the feasibility, reliability, validity, and utility of the approach for prospectively assessing the quality of psychosocial intervention delivery in a practice setting.  The goal is to support the development and testing of assessment tools and strategies that are both psychometrically rigorous (i.e., reliable, valid and strongly predictive of therapy outcomes and associated with other "gold standard" metrics of quality) and pragmatic (i.e., feasible for use in community practice settings and useful for advancing efforts at training, supervision, quality monitoring, and/or quality improvement).

Through HawksNest, alumni, family, and friends of the university can directly support the research, scholarship, and service projects of Miami University students, faculty, and staff. This is how HawksNest works: * Any Miami University student, faculty, or staff member may complete an online application to have a project considered for funding. * An internal review team assesses applications and posts approved projects on HawksNest for a maximum of 45 days. * Potential donors visit the site to learn about and pledge funds to approved projects. * Once a funding goal has been met, the project can begin! * Project managers use the site to keep donors up-to-date with information on the project's progress.

The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) is seeking proposals to provide independent, objective analysis of scientific and technical topics of relevance to the Air Force and national defense. The activity would include refining areas of interest provided by the Air Force into organized, rigorous studies concerning, for many scientific and technical fields, determining the state of the art, projecting trends, utilizing science and technologies for national defense purposes, and identifying promising or necessary areas of additional study.
