Bringing Theory to Practice Project, an independent project established by the Association of American Colleges and Universities, is accepting proposals from universities and colleges in the United States for projects aimed promoting the nexus of engaged learning, civic engagement, and psychosocial well-being among college and university students. Seminar grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded for projects that bring together diverse members of the campus community to discuss the civic mission of the institution and how the full expression of that mission can be achieved. Proposals will be accepted on a quarterly-deadline system (June 15, September 15, December 15, and March 15), with awards announced two weeks after each deadline. Program Development grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to enhance or extend a program that is consistent with BTtoP's objective of promoting engaged learning, civic engagement, and the psychosocial well-being of students. Institutional matching support is required for all grants. Proposals will bee accepted on a quarterly-deadline system (June 15, September 15, December 15, and March 15), with awards announced six to eight weeks after each deadline.

The Committee on Psychoanalysis & the Academy is offering tuition-support for academics to attend psychoanalytic training seminars at APsaA-accredited Institutes. Financial support will be available for Fall 2013 and any academic-either CORST candidates currently enrolled in training or others simply interested in gaining psychoanalytic knowledge for research-is encouraged to apply. These grants will be offered for tuition only (paid directly to your institute).

The American Psychological Association is inviting applications for its APA Congressional Fellowship Program. Through the annual program, fellows spend one year working on the staff of a member of Congress or congressional committee. Activities may involve drafting legislation, conducting oversight work, assisting with congressional hearings and events, and preparing briefs and speeches. Fellows also attend a two-week orientation program on congressional and executive branch operations, which provides guidance for the congressional placement process, and participate in a yearlong seminar series on science and public policy issues. The American Association for the Advancement of Science administers these professional development activities for the APA fellows and for fellows sponsored by over two dozen other professional societies.

Made possible through a 12-year, $50 million commitment from the Amgen Foundation, Amgen Scholars allows undergraduates from across the globe to participate in cutting-edge research opportunities at world-class institutions. 17 leading institutions across the U.S., Europe and Japan currently host the summer program. Undergraduate participants benefit from undertaking a research project under top faculty, being part of a cohort-based experience of seminars and networking events, and taking part in a symposium in their respective region (U.S., Europe or Japan) where they meet their peers, learn about biotechnology, and hear from leading scientists. -- No previous research experience is necessary and you do not need to be a biology major to apply. -- You do not need to currently attend one of the 17 host institutions to participate in the program. -- During the program, students work full-time on independent research projects under the guidance of a research scientist. -- Amgen Scholars have opportunities to conduct research, analyze data, present research results, network with other undergraduates with similar research interests, and develop working relationships with faculty mentors and other research staff. -- Financial support is a critical component of the Amgen Scholars Program.
