The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to create and broadcast via television and radio a multi-language drama series set a few years in Afghanistan's future showing what could be possible if the nation embraced peace and reconciliation. This cooperative agreement will support the development, production, and television and radio broadcast of a Pashto- and Dari-language television and radio drama series set in Afghanistan's future following successful peace and reconciliation. It will show possibilities for Afghans as individuals, as communities, and as a nation under a lasting peace and reconciliation process. The drama will attempt to foreshadow the positive results of a successful peace reconciliation process: harmony between ethnicities, safe travel between provinces, job creation, economic growth, foreign investment, construction in the capital and provinces, and Afghanistan's role as a peaceful and independent nation on the world stage. Through flashbacks, the drama will also show pivotal times in Afghanistan's history as well as difficult and complex past decisions made by individuals, communities, and the nation that resulted in this peaceful and prosperous future. The series should acknowledge that conflict between characters and groups will remain, but demonstrate how those conflicts are managed peacefully.

The Information Office (IO) in the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States of America in Islamabad, Pakistan, is pleased to announce a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for an assistance award through the Public Diplomacy Grants program. PAS Islamabad invites organizations to submit proposals for an award to provide training to media professionals through the program specified in this specified in this NOFO. Programs will take place in various locations in Pakistan including Islamabad, Karachi, Kyber Paktunkhwa and the newly merged tribal areas (the former FATA). The objective of this program is to strengthen Pakistan's free press. Its aim is to strengthen the capacity of journalists and the accuracy of reporting in Pakistan. This program seeks to address the gaps in their professional knowledge by providing training to journalists in new or traditional forms of media that also support professional standards in journalism, increasing participants' knowledge and skills in producing and reporting quality news stories, and exposing them to high professional standards.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia is pleased to announce an open competition for assistance awards through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a pilot Program in Media Literacy. PAS invites organizations to submit proposals for an up-to- 24 months project to improve media literacy skills among young Georgians between the ages of 16 - 24 to include ethnic minorities and people at risk of being socially marginalized. Expected results include an increase of at least 20% in program participants' ability to distinguish trustworthy news from fake news and an increase of at least 20% in those who cross-check the information from the news.

This opportunity provides funding to an organization to manage the below-mentioned programs that will be executed by the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at the Institute for Business Administration (IBA) to support scholarships, internships and journalism training workshops. The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) offers Pakistan's only professionally-focused master's degree in journalism. The 1.5-year long Masters of Science in Journalism (MSJ) allows students to immerse themselves in all forms of journalism - digital, audio and video - and gain practical experience in a newsroom under the guidance of experienced instructors. This award will provide opportunities for CEJ students, including eight-week internships at U.S. media outlets in the final semester of their MSJ degree; partial scholarships (50% of tuition) to attend CEJ; and (3) thematic training led by specialists and professional journalists from the U.S. who will be brought to CEJ to lead the workshops.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to improve access to information for journalists and civil society in accordance with Afghanistan's Access to Information Law. Based on funding availability, this grant intends to develop and provide training for journalists and members of civil society on access to information procedures under Afghan law. The recipient will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the current legal framework surrounding access to information in Afghanistan, and create a strategic plan that will increase awareness of the law and how to use it. Participants will become more aware of the law, how it works, and how to make access to information requests. A successful proposal will include a detailed plan for recruiting a diverse group of journalists from a variety of outlets and employees from a cross-section of civil society organizations working on democracy and governance issues to take part in these trainings. Training activities should take place in Kabul and in no less than five provincial capitals.

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that support civil society and media in Ukraine.

The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs is seeking Statements of Interests (SOIs) from qualified organizations to implement a program to strengthen investigative journalism on the topic of corruption, corruption proceeds, and illicit financial transactions (i.e. money laundering) of such proceeds. The goal of this project is to improve the quality and quantity of investigative pieces exposing corruption and illicit finance, particularly as facilitators of transnational crime, and to increase awareness among justice sector actors and journalists of relevant information produced by each group (i.e. law enforcement alerts, tips, or actionable reporting), and identify and promote ways in which they might more effectively engage each other when possible. The project will aim to build this capacity in the Western Hemisphere. INL will review all SOIs for eligibility. Eligible SOIs will be subject to compliance of Federal and Bureau regulations and guidelines and may also be reviewed by the Office of the Legal Adviser or by other Department elements.Organizations may be recommended to submit a full proposal based on an evaluation of how the SOI best meets the solicitation review criteria, U.S. foreign policy objectives, and the priority needs of INL. The anticipated notification date is within five weeks of the closing date of this announcement.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai (PAS Chennai) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Women Shaping the Narrative in Media and Entertainment." Under this project, a grantee will conduct series of workshops and training programs on "Women First, Prosperity for All: Opportunities for Women in the Media and Entertainment Industry in South India." The workshop will highlight issues that preclude and challenge women from reaching their full potential in this industry and find practical solutions to address them. The U.S. Embassy to the Republic of Moldova seeks a qualified implementing organization that will manage the "Television Content Fund" program, which aims to increase the quality and quantity of locally produced content on Moldovan television through co-productions that expand investment and employment in the media space. The implementing organization will ensure the achievement of the program activities and objectives described in this Notice of Funding Opportunity and will be responsible for overall logistical coordination, management of funds, and coordination with the U.S. Embassy's Public Affairs Section on the initiatives within this funding award. The Office of Citizen Exchanges of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA, or "Bureau") announces an open competition for the FY 2018 Global Media Makers (GMM) program. GMM will connect approximately 12 to 18 mid-career film and television professionals ("Fellows") from approximately six to eight countries with leading U.S. entertainment and media professionals ("Mentors"). These Mentors will facilitate behind-the-scenes access, bolster participants' technical skills and creative content development, and build the foundations for lasting professional networks. This program will focus on film and television projects in development and match participants' areas of interest with Mentor expertise. Fellows will travel to Los Angeles, California for a five-to-six week residency to work on projects with Mentors and receive state-of-the-art-training and industry access to support conceptual development of independent, authentic, and compelling content for distribution in their home countries. Following the residency, Mentors will travel to a select number of the Fellows' countries, when possible, for continued creative consultation and engagement. Both Mentors and Fellows will mutually benefit from the extended creative and professional development, which will promote dialogue and understanding and lead to greater creative and entrepreneurial connections.

The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

The U.S. Mission in Iraq announces an open competition for eligible organizations to submit proposals for a cooperative agreement to develop and implement the Media Training for Journalists in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region program. Public Affairs Section (PA) Baghdad seeks to enable Iraqi and U.S. experts to engage with Iraqi audiences, in person and via virtual platforms, on a variety of topics in accordance with Mission Iraq goals through this program. The Media Training for Journalists in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region program will provide five to ten targeted trainings for Iraqi Kurdistan Region-based journalists to improve the overall level of professionalism and adherence to ethical standards. Trainings should focus on key demographics such as women, ethnic and religious minorities, journalists at religiously-affiliated media outlets and journalists from outlets considered primary news sources in regions recently controlled by ISIS.

The U.S. Embassy in Moldova seeks to support independent voices in the Moldovan media landscape through the development of good quality local production capacity in the Republic of Moldova in the interests of plurality of views and editorial independence. Specifically, this initiative seeks to support the development of the community of filmmakers and digital content creators who use their medium to present an alternative vision of Moldovan society and culture. The U.S. Embassy seeks a qualified implementing partner that will select, mentor and monitor a series of sub-grantees from the Moldovan creative community.The project will include two major components: 1. Planning and administration of sub-grantees applying for production related initiatives. The grant recipient must solicit applications from emerging or established Moldovan filmmakers, NGOs and creative studios based on an open competition, and select participants based on merit, potential and proposed project goals and outcome. 2. Mentorship of filmmakers, studios and NGOs that successfully pass the selection stage for film production, film festivals, and other non-news production projects. Grant recipient need to mentor the funds recipients in all the cycles of the projects: Planning, Script writing (where necessary), Pitching, Production, Distribution, Fundraising etc. The funding competitions to be announced by the grant recipient of this funding opportunity should be opened to individuals and entities from/registered in the Republic of Moldova and can include different formats, i.e. documentary, narrative, animation, or experimental formats. The themes and goals shall be discussed together with the U.S. Embassy team and the grant recipient.

U.S. Embassy Baku's Annual Program Statement solicits proposals for projects that further the U.S. Mission's public diplomacy goals of expanding and strengthening people-to-people ties between Azerbaijan and the United States, engaging with local media, and building and strengthening local partners through the specific objectives listed. The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon announces an open competition for an assistance award through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). PAS Yaounde invites all eligible organizations to submit a proposal for a French-language television and radio entertainment drama series that addresses the issue of countering violent extremism among young people in contemporary Cameroonian society and highlights the power of civic engagement and peaceful community involvement to enact positive change and provide an alternative to violent extremism.

Applicants for the funds may be students or faculty. The project, program, or entrepreneurial idea must be created by, led by or benefit women. Grants are awarded in values of $2500 to $20,000. While we prefer the base grant to be $5,000, we are considering a limited number of $2500 which will be required to show high impact. These applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The grants must be submitted online via the link below and must include a 2-minute video. Applicants will be narrowed to a pool of 10-15 finalists by our M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Grants Committee. This committee will review applications; contact applicants if additional information is required, and present the finalists to the M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Steering Committee and Development Staff. Grant deadline for this year is Feb. 9, 2018. These finalists will perform in a fast-pitch style Hawk Tank event on April 11, 2018. Finalists will be offered fast-pitch training courtesy of the Farmers School of Business - school of Entrepreneurship, and will receive coaching and support. They will then pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less on April 11, 2018 at the event. Giving Circle members are the voters who will determine winners. Absentee voters will be given the option to vote online. Winners will be announced that night or the next day at the Symposium, to be determined.

The Association of Historians of American Art (AHAA) offers two grants of $500 each to defray College Art Association conference expenses, including transportation, housing, and registration fees, for presenting members. The first grant is for an ABD graduate student in American Art history who is currently enrolled in a graduate program and will travel to CAA's annual conference to appear on the meeting program. The second grant is to support a contingent faculty member or museum staff person whose work engages with the art of the United States, does not have access to travel funds from their institution of employment, and will travel to CAA's annual conference to appear on the meeting program.
