A Community Thrives is a new approach to social impact programs that was developed through a collaboration across the entire USA TODAY NETWORK. While most initiatives designate funds or give support to great charities, we're going to instead fund and support great ideas. The volunteering begins with you pitching your creative solutions to solving our communities' most critical needs.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages R01 research grant applications from institutions/organizations that propose to investigate whether, and how, heavy involvement in new digital media usage, particularly social media and social networking sites, may influence adolescent alcohol use and drinking patterns, as well as drinking-related problems. This FOA also encourages applications proposing to explore the ways in which new digital media may be utilized as platforms for preventive interventions aimed at underage drinking and related problems.

APS Presents…Phantastic Physiology Voyage: "Function Follows Form" video contest encourages  undergraduate and graduate students to creatively connect with physiology and engages them with the broader public through a short video contest.  Two annual awards are made: 1st place: $750 Viewers' Choice: $250 (determined from hits on YouTube site)

The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses. Funds will be awarded to build the capability and capacity of programs to engage more students, more businesses,  and more faculty members in co-op and internship programs. The programs should address the talent needs of JobsOhio key industries.

Now in its twenty-fourth year, the annual award recognizes outstanding published work from a researcher that furthers innovation in healthcare financing and delivery or the implementation of healthcare policy.
