Now in its thirty-third year, the annual program provides financial support to developing or established professionals for projects that are pivotal to the advancement of their career as artists. Because such projects may happen at different stages of a career, Emerging Artists grants are not restricted to new or emerging artists. Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded in support of artistic projects in the areas of painting/drawing, photography, installation, film/video, drama, literature, printmaking/mixed media, craft, sculpture, dance, and music.

The Pop Culture Collaborative represents an innovative hub for high impact partnerships and grants designed to help organizations and individuals leverage the reach and power of pop culture for social justice goals. Pop Up Rapid Response Grants are designed to help organizations working to build movements, drive campaigns, produce stories, and leverage media and entertainment mediums to drive positive narrative and social change in popular culture. Funded projects must impact, support, or engage at least one of these community groups: people of color, immigrants, refugees, or Muslims. Examples of funded projects include public events and private retreats; tool and resource prototypes; network and partnership building; story, narrative, and strategy design process; and creative content including short film/video, concerts, music recordings, etc. Grants range from $5,000 to $30,000. Requests may be submitted at any time by nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations, and individuals. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to projects that further understanding of Japanese arts and culture in the United States through the performing arts, exhibitions, film screenings, lectures, symposia, and other cultural events. Priority will be given to those projects that have secured additional funding from sources other than the Japan Foundation.

California Documentary Project, a competitive grants program that supports documentary film, radio, and new media productions designed to enhance an understanding of California and its cultures, peoples, and histories. Projects must use the humanities to provide context, depth, and perspective and be suitable for California and national audiences through broadcast and/or distribution. CDP grants support projects at the research and development, production, and public engagement stages.

The SFFILM Westridge Grant is a fund that supports US-based, independent narrative feature films in the screenwriting phase. Grants are awarded twice annually to projects that address social issues and pressing questions of our time through creative and original storytelling. The SFFILM Westridge Grant is open to US-based filmmakers whose stories take place in the United States. A total of $200,000 will be granted annually through this program, with four or five $20,000-$25,000 grants awarded in each spring and fall. In addition to financial support, grantees receive a range of benefits through SFFILM's comprehensive and dynamic artist development programs, as well as support and feedback from SFFILM and Westridge Foundation staff.

As a part of its current initiative, Standing Together: The Humanities and the Experience of War, the National Endowment for the Humanities offers the Dialogues on the Experience of War program. The program supports the study and discussion of important humanities sources about war, in the belief that these sources can help U.S. military veterans and others to think more deeply about the issues raised by war and military service. The humanities sources can be drawn from history, philosophy, literature, and film-and they may and should be supplemented by testimonials from those who have served. The discussions are intended to promote serious exploration of important questions about the nature of duty, heroism, suffering, loyalty, and patriotism.

The Headlands Center for the Arts campus comprises a cluster of artist-rehabilitated military buildings just north of the Golden Gate Bridge at historic Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands, a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The center's programs support artists in all disciplines - from visual artists to performers, musicians, writers, and videographers - and provide opportunities for independent and collaborative creative work. The center currently is inviting applications for its Artist in Residence program. Through the program, fully sponsored residencies that include a monthly stipend of $500 will be awarded to approximately fifty local, national, and international artists at the cutting edge of their fields whose work has the potential to impact the cultural landscape at large. Residencies run from four to ten weeks and include round-trip airfare, up to 2,000-square-foot studios, five chef-prepared meals per week, access to vehicles as well as basic woodshop; audio/video equipment; an artists' library with computer, scanner, and printer; and field trips to Bay Area museums, galleries, and cultural venues. There is an application fee of $25. Eligible artists may be at any stage their career and work in any media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music, interdisciplinary, social practice, and architecture.

The Japan Foundation New York office (JFNY) accepts applications from non-profit organizations for projects that take place within the 37 states east of the Rocky Mountains, plus Washington D.C., listed below for the JFNY Grant for Arts & Culture on a rolling basis throughout the year. This grant aims to support projects that will further understanding of Japanese arts and culture. Successful projects are granted up to $5,000. This grant also supports online projects related to Arts & Cultural Exchange that incorporate issues pertaining to the COVID-19 global pandemic such as virtual exhibitions, virtual performances, film streaming, online conference as well as webinar. Priority will be given to those projects that have secured additional funding from sources other than the Japan Foundation.

The GKV Foundation supports individual development and related community impact through the use of a range of artistic media, including the visual arts, music, and dance. The goal is that with GKV first-year funding enough measurable results will be achieved to attract sustaining funding from other sources. Priority is given to established nonprofits with a big idea that has great potential but that has yet to be funded and therefore is untested. In order to be considered for funding, interested organizations must first submit a Letter of Interest. If the LOI is of interest to the foundation and is selected for further consideration, the organization will be contacted via email and invited to submit a more comprehensive proposal.

Through the fund, NGS will distribute grants ranging between $1,000 and $8,000 USD to support the local coverage of the preparation, response, and impact of the coronavirus pandemic as seen through evidence-based reporting. Through the fund, NGS will place particular emphasis on efforts to deliver news to underserved populations, particularly where there is a dearth of evidence-based information getting to those who need it. Both individual stories and longer series will be supported, as well as local and even hyper-local distribution models. Beyond reporting on medical and physical health related to COVID-19, NGS especially encourages reporting that covers social, emotional, economic, and equity issues. Narratives around the pandemic necessarily include facts and numbers but also must go deeper - telling the stories of inequities that COVID-19 has brought to light. Priority communities include those at high risk or hit especially hard by the virus, Indigenous communities; immigrant or refugee communities; underserved, urban, rural, or elderly populations; and children.

The Association of Historians of American Art (AHAA) offers two grants of $500 each to defray College Art Association conference expenses, including transportation, housing, and registration fees, for presenting members. The first grant is for an ABD graduate student in American Art history who is currently enrolled in a graduate program and will travel to CAA's annual conference to appear on the meeting program. The second grant is to support a contingent faculty member or museum staff person whose work engages with the art of the United States, does not have access to travel funds from their institution of employment, and will travel to CAA's annual conference to appear on the meeting program.

Since 1956, the Graham Foundation has fostered the development and exchange of diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. As one of the few funders of individuals in the field of architecture, the foundation's grants provide important support for the work of emerging and established architects, scholars, writers, artists, designers, curators, filmmakers, and other individuals. To apply for an individual grant, applicants must submit an Inquiry Form-the first stage of a two-stage application process. Inspired by its core belief that documentaries have the power to change lives and communities, the Southern Documentary Fund (SDF) works to cultivate documentary projects made in or about the American South. Through support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, SDF currently is accepting applications for nonfiction documentary projects from residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Through the SDF Production Grant program, the fund will grant awards of $10,000 in support of original projects with potential to generate public discourse in the pre-production, production, or post-production stage.
