The CDS&E-MSS program accepts proposals that confront and embrace the host of mathematical and statistical challenges presented to the scientific and engineering communities by the ever-expanding role of computational modeling and simulation on the one hand, and the explosion in production of digital and observational data on the other. The goal of the program is to promote the creation and development of the next generation of mathematical and statistical theories and tools that will be essential for addressing such issues. To this end, the program will support fundamental research in mathematics and statistics whose primary emphasis will be on meeting the aforementioned computational and data-related challenges. This program is part of the wider Computational and Data-enabled Science and Engineering (CDS&E) enterprise in NSF that seeks to address this emerging discipline. The research supported by the CDS&E-MSS program will aim to advance mathematics or statistics in a significant way and will address computational or big-data challenges.

The Combinatorics program supports research on discrete structures and includes algebraic, enumerative, existential, extremal, geometric, and probabilistic combinatorics, including graph theory. Conferences Principal Investigators should carefully read the program solicitation "Conferences and Workshops in the Mathematical Sciences" (link below) to obtain important information regarding the substance of proposals for conferences, workshops, summer/winter schools, and similar activities. Conference proposals must be submitted at least six months in advance of the conference, and in the same fiscal year (which begins October 1) if possible.

The Probability Program supports research on the theory and applications of probability. Subfields include discrete probability, stochastic processes, limit theory, interacting particle systems, stochastic differential and partial differential equations, and Markov processes. Research in probability which involves applications to other areas of science and engineering is especially encouraged. NGA welcomes all innovative ideas for path-breaking research that may advance the GEOINT mission. The NGA mission is to provide timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) in support of national security objectives. GEOINT is the exploitation and analysis of imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess, and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on the Earth. GEOINT consists of imagery, imagery intelligence, and geospatial information. NGA offers a variety of critical GEOINT products in support of U.S. national security objectives and Federal disaster relief, including aeronautical, geodesy, hydrographic, imagery, geospatial and topographical information. The NGA Academic Research Program (NARP) is focused on innovative, far-reaching basic and applied research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics having the potential to advance the GEOINT mission. The objective of the NARP is to support innovative, high-payoff research that provides the basis for revolutionary progress in areas of science and technology affecting the needs and mission of NGA.

State of the States in Developmental Disabilities-On-going Data Collection and Information Dissemination "The State of the States in Developmental Disabilities" is a comparative nationwide longitudinal study of public financial commitments and programmatic trends in developmental disabilities services and supports. The project’s activities include: • Analyzing developmental disabilities financial and programmatic trends in each state and the District of Columbia • Identifying trends and innovations in the financing of family support supported living, and supported employment in the states • Completing special studies, such as Medicaid spending for special education • Collaborating with other ACL data collection projects to show targeted current year and longitudinal data on the project website • Providing a create-a-chart option allowing reports to be customized

Cultivating Cultures for Ethical STEM (CCE STEM) funds research projects that identify (1) factors that are effective in the formation of ethical STEM researchers and (2) approaches to developing those factors in all the fields of science and engineering that NSF supports. CCE STEM solicits proposals for research that explores the following: 'What constitutes responsible conduct for research (RCR), and which cultural and institutional contexts promote ethical STEM research and practice and why?' Factors one might consider include: honor codes, professional ethics codes and licensing requirements, an ethic of service and/or service learning, life-long learning requirements, curricula or memberships in organizations (e.g. Engineers without Borders) that stress responsible conduct for research, institutions that serve under-represented groups, institutions where academic and research integrity are cultivated at multiple levels, institutions that cultivate ethics across the curriculum, or programs that promote group work, or do not grade. Do certain labs have a 'culture of academic integrity'? What practices contribute to the establishment and maintenance of ethical cultures and how can these practices be transferred, extended to, and integrated into other research and learning settings?

The purpose of this NOFO is to provide funding and technical assistance for PEPFAR countries to establish HIV recent infection surveillance to detect recent infections, monitor trends in the HIV epidemic, identify hot spots associated with recent HIV transmission, and inform programmatic interventions to reach epidemic control. Point-of-care tests for recent infection distinguish between recent (HIV seroconversion in the last 6 months, on average) and non-recent HIV infection and provide results within minutes. These data may be linked to HIV case-based surveillance for ongoing epidemic monitoring and used by programs to provide enhanced counselling for immediate ART initiation, prioritize index testing, and intervene to prevent HIV transmission. This NOFO will require a multi-disciplinary team with expertise in surveillance, laboratory, prevention, HIV testing services, health informatics, data management, data analytics, and supply chain to support the planning, implementation, and impact evaluation of this PEPFAR priority activity.

This NOFO will sustain and continue progress made through the previous CDC SI Cooperative Agreement. The purpose of this NOFO is to promote evidence-based decision making for an AIDS-Free generation by monitoring data quality at the site-level and collecting, analyzing and disseminating data at all levels. NOFO objectives are to: (1) improve capacity of M&E systems to oversee data quality and data use for decision making (including capacity building of M&E staff); (2) enhance district-led and nationally supported evidence-based programming (triangulating data from multiple data sources); (3) improve the understanding of HIV burden, incidence, loss to follow-up, linkages, and referral services across interventions (95-95-95) and facilities; (4) support regular updates to DHIS2 and electronic registers (including use of unique identifiers) to reflect changes to MOH and/or PEPFAR indicators; and (5) improve and/or develop interoperability of DHIS2 with other data systems in country.

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics works to ensure equitable mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students through vision, leadership, the professional development of teachers, and research. To that end, NCTM is accepting applications to its Connecting Mathematics to Other Subject Areas Grants for Grades 9-12 Teachers program, which supports senior high classroom materials or lessons that connect mathematics to other areas of study. For the 2019-20 school year, grants of up to $4,000 each will be awarded to persons currently teaching mathematics in grades 9-12. Materials may be in the form of books, visual displays, computer programs or displays, slide shows, videotapes, or other appropriate media. The focus of these materials should be on showing the connectivity of mathematics to other fields and/or the world around us.

Although invention and proof-of-concept testing of new technologies are a key component of the BRAIN Initiative, to achieve their potential these technologies must also be optimized through feedback from end-users in the context of the intended experimental use. This seeks applications for the optimization of existing and emerging technologies and approaches that have potential to address major challenges associated with recording and manipulating neural activity, at or near cellular resolution, at multiple spatial and temporal scales, in any region and throughout the entire depth of the brain. This FOA is intended for the iterative refinement of emergent technologies and approaches that have already demonstrated their transformative potential through initial proof-of-concept testing, and are appropriate for accelerated development of hardware and software while scaling manufacturing techniques towards sustainable, broad dissemination and user-friendly incorporation into regular neuroscience practice. Proposed technologies should be compatible with experiments in behaving animals, and should include advancements that enable or reduce major barriers to hypothesis-driven experiments. Technologies may engage diverse types of signaling beyond neuronal electrical activity for large-scale analysis, and may utilize any modality such as optical, electrical, magnetic, acoustic or genetic recording/manipulation. Applications that seek to integrate multiple approaches are encouraged. Applications are expected to integrate appropriate domains of expertise, including where appropriate biological, chemical and physical sciences, engineering, computational modeling and statistical analysis.

CISE's Division of Computing and Communication Foundations (CCF) supports research and education projects that develop new knowledge in three core programs: The Algorithmic Foundations (AF) program; The Communications and Information Foundations (CIF) program; and The Software and Hardware Foundations (SHF) program. Proposers are invited to submit proposals in three project classes, which are defined as follows: Small Projects - up to $500,000 total budget with durations up to three years; Medium Projects - $500,001 to $1,200,000 total budget with durations up to four years; and Large Projects - $1,200,001 to $3,000,000 total budget with durations up to five years.

CADS invites research proposals from Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty members for its 2018 Research Fellowships. The fellowships provide support for Miami's faculty on projects broadly related to the area of analytics and data science. CADS will fund one proposal up to $25,000 for one year in duration. Topics should address problems, challenges, or questions that emerge in response to larger, more diverse, higher volume data. Multidisciplinary proposals featuring researchers from different academic divisions are strongly encouraged, with a minimum expectation of researchers representing different academic departments. Proposals comprised only of researchers from within a single academic department will not be considered.

The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

The HFSP supports novel, innovative and interdisciplinary basic research focused on the complex mechanisms of living organisms; topics range from molecular and cellular approaches to systems and cognitive neuroscience and the interactions between organisms. A clear emphasis is placed on novel collaborations that bring biologists together with scientists from fields such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science and engineering to focus on problems at the frontier of the life sciences.

First Round of HPC4Mtls Solicitation is Now Open The first HPC4Mtls Program solicitation seeks concept papers that will address key challenges in developing, modifying, and/or qualifying new or modified materials that perform well in severe and complex energy application environments using high performance computing, modeling, simulation, and data analysis. For each of the program offices supporting this solicitation, we provide brief descriptions of their mission and the topics of interest to them. Deadline for concept paper submission is April 19, 2018 at 11:59 pm PDT.

The NIDCR-funded FaceBase data repository and knowledgebase (www.facebase.org) was established to advance craniofacial research by creating comprehensive datasets on craniofacial development and dysmorphologies and disseminating them to the wider craniofacial research community. Since FaceBase's inception, the data management and integration hub has been charged with the critical functions of collecting datasets and analytic tools developed by dataset-generating spoke projects, curating and integrating those resources, and disseminating them. This Request for Applications (RFA) is a limited competition for renewal applications for the Data Management and Integration Hub. As in the past, the FaceBase 3 hub will continue to be responsible for integration and presentation of existing FaceBase datasets, development or adoption of new approaches for data search and visualization, and outreach to the wider craniofacial research community. In addition, the hub will assume an important new mission that of working with investigators within the craniofacial research community to make their datasets compatible with FaceBase's data models, curating and integrating these new datasets with those already held by FaceBase.

TheBIGDATAprogram seeks novel approaches in computer science, statistics, computational science, and mathematics leading towards the further development of the interdisciplinary field ofdata science.The program also seeks innovative applications in domain science, including social and behavioral sciences, education, physical sciences, and engineering, where data science and the availability of big data are creating new opportunities for research and insights not previously possible. The solicitation invites two categories of proposals: Foundations (BIGDATA: F):those developing or studying fundamental theories, techniques, methodologies, and technologies of broad applicability to big data problems, motivated by specific data challenges and requirements; and Innovative Applications (BIGDATA: IA):those engaged intranslational activities that employ new big data techniques, methodologies, and technologies to address and solve problems in specific application domains.
