The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is accepting applications to its Equity in Mathematics grant program from classroom teachers in grades 6-8. The purpose of the grant program is to help teachers incorporate middle school classroom materials or lessons that boost the achievement of students with a previous record of underachievement into their classrooms. Grants of up to $8,000 will be awarded to persons currently teaching math in grades 6-12, and proposals must address the following: the mathematics content as defined in NCTM's Principles and Standards for School Mathematics; the plan for improving achievement of the targeted students; and the anticipated impact on students' achievement. To be eligible, applicants must be a current full individual or E-member of NCTM or teach at a school with a current NCTM PreK-8 school membership and currently teach mathematics in grades 6-8 at least 50 percent of the school day.

The National Science Foundation's (NSF's) Directorates for Computer & Information Science & Engineering (CISE) and Mathematical & Physical Sciences (MPS) recently launched the Transdisciplinary Research in Principles of Data Science (TRIPODS) Phase I program with the goal of promoting long-term, interdisciplinary research and training activities that engage theoretical computer scientists, statisticians, and mathematicians in developing the theoretical foundations of data science. The Partnerships between Science and Engineering Fields and the NSF TRIPODS Institutes (TRIPODS + X) solicitation seeks to expand the scope of the TRIPODS program beyond the foundations community by engaging researchers across other NSF disciplines and the TRIPODS research teams in collaborative activities. TRIPODS + X projects will foster relationships between researchers in science & engineering domains and foundational data scientists by leveraging existing NSF investments in the TRIPODS organizations. The Toshiba America Foundation is accepting applications from teachers in grades 6-12 who are passionate about making science and math more engaging for their students. Proposals for grants of up to $5,000 or less will be accepted on a rolling basis. However, the foundation considers larger grants twice a year - on August 1 and February 1. Summer projects or afterschool programs will not be considered, nor will grant proposals for salaries, facility maintenance, the purchase of textbooks, video production, audio-visual equipment (e.g., electronic whiteboards, Smartboards, document projectors, student response systems), and education research.

Cultivating Cultures for Ethical STEM (CCE STEM) funds research projects that identify (1) factors that are effective in the formation of ethical STEM researchers and (2) approaches to developing those factors in all the fields of science and engineering that NSF supports. CCE STEM solicits proposals for research that explores the following: 'What constitutes responsible conduct for research (RCR), and which cultural and institutional contexts promote ethical STEM research and practice and why?' Factors one might consider include: honor codes, professional ethics codes and licensing requirements, an ethic of service and/or service learning, life-long learning requirements, curricula or memberships in organizations (e.g. Engineers without Borders) that stress responsible conduct for research, institutions that serve under-represented groups, institutions where academic and research integrity are cultivated at multiple levels, institutions that cultivate ethics across the curriculum, or programs that promote group work, or do not grade. Do certain labs have a 'culture of academic integrity'? What practices contribute to the establishment and maintenance of ethical cultures and how can these practices be transferred, extended to, and integrated into other research and learning settings?

The BIGDATA program seeks novel approaches in computer science, statistics, computational science, and mathematics leading towards the further development of the interdisciplinary field of data science. The program also seeks innovative applications in domain science, including social and behavioral sciences, education, physical sciences, and engineering, where data science and the availability of big data are creating new opportunities for research and insights not previously possible.

What we will consider funding: Innovative ideas for improving measurement of coverage and equity data for use by program staff and managers. Specifically, their ability to collect and deliver the right data at the right time to the appropriate audiences would benefit from: Incorporating advances in technology to support decision makers in planning and executing program strategies Integration of immunization data systems, as well as the ability to address data use demands from multiple stakeholders. Enabling a culture that supports data quality and use e.g. provides feedback on data at multiple levels. Alignment of incentives to promote reporting of accurate data above coverage estimates. Innovations in process efficiency toward improved service delivery. These may stem from lean healthcare, or other approaches, but should have the end goal of improving the experience of healthcare workers, caregivers, or both.

The Global Engagement Center (GEC), an interagency entity within the U.S. Department of State, invites organizations that can implement programming to counter foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining United States national security interests to submit applications by April 11, 2018. The Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) of the SC, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), hereby invites applications for basic research that address fundamental challenges within DOE's mission areas of energy, environment and security, and from a perspective that requires new integrated efforts across multiple mathematical, statistical and computational disciplines. This solicitation is for new Mathematical Multifaceted Integrated Capability Centers (MMICCs) to enable greatly enhanced scientific discovery, design, optimization or decision-support capabilities for the increasingly complex systems, processes, and problems that arise in science and energy research. Proposed research tightly focused on the solution of a particular science or engineering problem are outside the scope of this solicitation.These MMICCs will enable applied mathematics researchers to work together in large, collaborative teams to develop the mathematics needed to address significant scientific computing research challenges. The MMICCs allow researchers to take a broader view of the problem as a whole, and devise solution strategies that attack the problem in its entirety by building fundamental, multidisciplinary mathematical capabilities and tools cognizant of both existing and emerging computing paradigms. The MMICCs teams will have the flexibility and technical expertise to consider all aspects of the problem-solving process simultaneously - ranging from the mathematical formulation to the development, analysis, integration of appropriate models and methods, and demonstration of results and capabilities.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to promote initial establishment of basic science-clinical collaborations by providing small grants to teams of basic scientists, physician scientists, and/or clinicians. These interdisciplinary teams may include but are not limited to the following: developmental biologists, cell biologists, geneticists, genomicists, physician scientists including individuals with DVM/VMD degrees, clinicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and/or bioinformaticists.

The Statistics Program supports research in statistical theory and methods, including research in statistical methods for applications to any domain of science and engineering. The theory forms the base for statistical science. The methods are used for stochastic modeling, and the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. The methods characterize uncertainty in the data and facilitate advancement in science and engineering. The Program encourages proposals ranging from single-investigator projects to interdisciplinary team projects.

The Mathematical Biology Program supports research in areas of applied and computationalmathematics with relevance to the biological sciences. Successful proposals are mathematically innovative and address challenging problems of interest to members of the biological community. Some projects of interest to the Mathematical Biology Program may include development of mathematical concepts and tools traditionally seen in other disciplinary programs within the Division of Mathematical Sciences, e.g., topology, probability, statistics, computational mathematics, etc. To receive appropriate and timely review, such proposals should be submitted directly to the relevant disciplinary program that has the earliest deadline, with other program(s) selected as secondary. Note that proposals that use established mathematical and computational tools to address problems in the biological sciences are typically not appropriate for submission to DMS. The CDS&E-MSS program accepts proposals that confront and embrace the host of mathematical and statistical challenges presented to the scientific and engineering communities by the ever-expanding role of computational modeling and simulation on the one hand, and the explosion in production of digital and observational data on the other. The goal of the program is to promote the creation and development of the next generation of mathematical and statistical theories and tools that will be essential for addressing such issues. To this end, the program will support fundamental research in mathematics and statistics whose primary emphasis will be on meeting the aforementioned computational and data-related challenges. This program is part of the wider Computational and Data-enabled Science and Engineering (CDS&E) enterprise in NSF that seeks to address this emerging discipline. The research supported by the CDS&E-MSS program will aim to advance mathematics or statistics in a significant way and will address computational or big-data challenges.

The Combinatorics program supports research on discrete structures and includes algebraic, enumerative, existential, extremal, geometric, and probabilistic combinatorics, including graph theory.
