The University of Delaware Library and the Delaware Art Museum invite applications for the 2014 joint Fellowship in Pre-Raphaelite Studies. This one-month Fellowship is intended for scholars working on the Pre-Raphaelites and their associates. Up to $3,000 is available. The Delaware Art Museum is home to the most important collection of Pre-Raphaelite art in the US. Assembled largely by Samuel Bancroft, Jr., the collection includes paintings, works on paper, decorative arts, manuscripts, and letters, and is augmented by the museum's Helen Farr Sloan art library. With comprehensive holdings in books, periodicals, electronic resources, and microforms, the University of Delaware Library is a major resource for the study of literature and art. The Special Collections Department contains material related to the Pre-Raphaelites, who are also well-represented in the Mark Samuels Lasner Collection of Victorian books, manuscripts, and artworks.

University College Cork invites applications for scholarships in the four-year structured PhD programme in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH). Successful candidates will be registered with the full-time inter-disciplinary structured PhD programme co-ordinated with an all-Irish university consortium. Candidates will pursue their individual research agendas within the program, based on projects developed from proposals which they provide during the application process. The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation is accepting applications from American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian artists for its National Artist Fellowship program, which annually supports Native artists in the categories of traditional arts, music, visual arts, literature and artistic innovation.

The Arts Endowment's support of a project may begin any time between November 1, 2015, and November 1, 2016, and extend for up to two years.Grant Program Description Through fellowships to published translators, the Arts Endowment supports projects for the translation of specific works of prose, poetry, or drama from other languages into English. We encourage translations of writers and of work that are not well represented in English translation. All proposed projects must be for creative translations of literary material into English. With the goal of promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in Arts and Humanities education, the Arts and Humanities Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research will offer financial support for faculty to present on the process and/or results of undergraduate research at regional or national Arts and/or Humanities conferences. The awards will be from $600 and up to three will be awarded for presentations that have been accepted by Feb. 10, 2015, to be presented (or which have been presented) in the fall of 2014 or spring of 2015 (by June 1, 2015).

Applicant organizations for NEA Big Read must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; a division of state, local, or tribal government; or a tax-exempt public library. Eligible applicants include organizations such as literary centers, libraries, museums, colleges and universities, art centers, historical societies, arts councils, tribal governments, humanities councils, literary festivals, and arts organizations. The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome Prize competition. One of leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities. The Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the academy's eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a private study or studio, and a stipend. The Caxton Club, founded in 1895 to support "the literary study and promotion of the arts pertaining to the production of books," extends its call for entries for its 2019 - 2020 grants. Grants are awarded for expenses of up to $2,500 (each) for book-related projects to be completed during academic year 2019 - 2020. Grants totaling up to $10,000 will be awarded. Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in a Midwestern university graduate program during the academic year 2019 - 2020 with a project in one of the following areas:   Bibliography Book arts History of the book Library studies Print culture studies Zines Library workers and other professionals seeking additional training in the above fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants are required to submit samples of work in support the grant application. Book arts applicants should submit either a mock up dummy of the project, if available, or previous work. Bibliography and history applicants may include samples of their previous written work.

The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, aims to restore reading to the center of American culture. Managed by Arts Midwest, the program provides organizations with grants and comprehensive resources that support efforts to inspire their community to read and discuss a single book or the work of a poet. Community organizations participating in the Big Read develop and produce reading programs that encourage reading and participation by diverse local audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and other events and activities related to the community's chosen book or poet. Activities must focus on a book or poet from the Big Read Library. Previous grantees must select a different reading choice from their previous programming. The program is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations to develop reading programs between September 1, 2018, and June 30, 2019. Organizations selected to participate receive a grant, educational and promotional materials, and access to online training resources and opportunities. Approximately seventy-five organizations will be selected from communities of varying size in the United States. Eligible organizations may apply for grants ranging between $5,000 and $15,000. Grants must be matched on a one-to-one basis with non-federal funds. Grant funds may be used for such expenses as book purchases, speaker fees and travel, salaries, advertising, and venue rental.

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is seeking to enter into a Cooperative Agreement with a U.S. Regional Arts Organization (RAO) that will administer the 2019-2020 cycle of the NEA Big Read program. The NEA Big Read is a community reading program that broadens our understanding of the world, communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. The program annually supports approximately 75 community reading programs, each designed around a single NEA Big Read book selection. Each participating community organization: selects a book from the available titles for the entire community to read and celebrate over a 4-6 week time period; presents a series of public events about the featured book, such as book group discussions, readings, and media and arts programs; promotes participation in the program; and reports on the type and number of participants at events. Community programs each receive an NEA Big Read subgrant-ranging from $5,000 to $15,000-to undertake these activities and are provided with resources to support project programming.

Individual translators who meet the publication requirements that are listed below are eligible to apply. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. See "How to Prepare and Submit an Application" for the documentation that is required to demonstrate eligibility. Ineligible applications will be rejected without panel review. An individual may submit only one application for FY 2015 funding. You may not apply for both a Translation Project under this deadline (December 9, 2013) and a Literature Fellowship (in prose or poetry) under the 2014 deadline (when fellowships in poetry are offered). You are not eligible to apply if you have received three or more Fellowships (in poetry, prose, or for translation) from the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition, you may not apply in Translation if you have received any Arts Endowment Literature Fellowships (in prose or poetry) or Translation Fellowship on or after October 1, 2010 (FY 2011). Finally, you may not apply in Translation with the same project for more than three consecutive years. Former grantees must have submitted acceptable Final Report packages by the due date(s) for all Arts Endowment award(s) previously received.

The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, Austin advances understanding of the humanities for a broad and diverse audience through the preservation and sharing of its extraordinary collections, providing unique insight into the creative process of writers and artists and deepening our understanding and appreciation of literature, photography, film, art, and the performing arts.

The colony currently is accepting applications from emerging and established artists for its fall fellowship program in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theater, and visual arts. The fellowship includes exclusive use of a private studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for a period of two weeks to two months.

Grant Program Description The National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowships program offers $25,000 grants in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and poetry to published creative writers that enable recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement. Applications are reviewed through an anonymous process in which the only criteria for review are artistic excellence and artistic merit. To review the applications, the National Endowment for the Arts assembles a different advisory panel every year, each diverse with regard to geography, race and ethnicity, and artistic points of view. The National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowships program operates on a two-year cycle with fellowships in prose and poetry available in alternating years. For FY 2019, which is covered by these guidelines, fellowships in poetry are available. Fellowships in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) will be offered in FY 2020 and guidelines will be available in January 2019. You may apply only once each year. Competition for fellowships is extremely rigorous. We typically receive more than 1,000 applications each year in this category and award fellowships to fewer than 5% of applicants. You should consider carefully whether your work will be competitive at the national level.

Through its fellowship programs, the Starr Center supports innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to the American past - especially by fostering the art of written history. Visiting fellows find a place where they can retreat from daily responsibilities and focus on their writing projects - but also one where they are stimulated by interactions with students, faculty, and distinguished visitors. The Center's Patrick Henry Writing Fellowship supports outstanding writing on American history and culture by both scholars and nonacademic authors; it offers a $45,000 stipend for the academic year, plus living arrangements and other benefits. The Hodson Trust-John Carter Brown Fellowship is open to applicants from a wide range of disciplines who are pursuing projects on the literature, history, culture, or art of the Americas before 1830. The award supports two months of research and two months of writing. The stipend is $5,000 per month for a total of $20,000, plus housing and university privileges. Click here for more information. Fellowships will be awarded to artists whose achievements have been recognized as demonstrating extraordinary promise in any area of artistic practice and teaching. Applicants should be early-career poets, novelists, choreographers, playwrights, designers, performers, directors, filmmakers, composers, and performance artists who would find it beneficial to spend two years teaching and working in an artistically vibrant university community.
