The American Research Institute in Turkey takes pleasure in inviting applications for one to three advanced long-term fellowships for research in Turkey made possible by support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The fields of study cover all periods of history in the general range of the humanities and include humanistically oriented aspects of the social sciences, prehistory, history, art, archaeology, literature, and linguistics, as well as interdisciplinary aspects of cultural history. The fellowships tenures range from four to twelve continuous months during 2018-2019. Stipends of $4,200 per month are awarded on the basis of individual proposals. Scholars who have completed their formal training by the application deadline and plan to carry out research in Turkey for four months or longer may apply. They may be U.S. citizens or three-year residents of the U.S. Please consult ARIT U.S. office for questions of eligibility. Advanced scholars may also apply for ARIT Fellowships in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

The announced Visiting International Fellowship in duration of four months is intended to increase the number of international faculty at the Silesian University, to foster scholarly networking and to enable the fellowship holder to carry out research in the Czech Republic. The fellow is expected to be in residence in Opava during the teaching part of the semester and to study in Czech research institutions during the non-teaching part of the semester (3−4weeks). The teaching load will be four courses in the area of fellow's expertise. English is foreseen as the main language of instruction. The fellow will receive a monthly stipend of approximately 1200 euro (exchange rate dependence). The funding is supposed to cover all expenses. The Visiting Fellowship lasts for four months and is tenable either from March to June or from September to December 2013.

The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS) is accepting applications for the Botstiber Fellowship in Austrian-American Studies. The fellowship will be awarded to a scholar or professional who seeks funds for a project that promotes an understanding of the historic relationship between Austria and the United States. A grant of up to $30,000 will be considered for support for salary, travel, or other necessary expenses. Applications from (i) graduate students, (ii) early-career professionals and (iii) mid-career professionals will be accepted. Fellowship applications must be submitted by March 31, 2014. Applicants will be notified of the result of their applications in June 2014.

New Voices Fellowships are designed to bring more expert voices from Africa and other parts of the developing world into the global development discussion. The program, which is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, offers experts from the developing world a year-long program of media support, training, research, and writing under the guidance of experienced mentors and trainers that is designed to help them reach a broader global audience. Candidates for the twelve to fourteen fellowships awarded each year must be experts in a field related to global development, ranging from global health and food security to governance, education, and social entrepreneurship. Fellows also must be from a developing country and ideally work and live in their country of origin or another developing country.

The American Cancer Society is accepting applications for its 2015 International Fellowships for Beginning Investigators, an annual program that aims to improve the exchange of cancer research knowledge, experience, expertise, and innovation. Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded to beginning investigators and researchers to support the promotion of cancer control in developing countries through epidemiology, cancer control, and other areas of cancer research. The one-year fellowships are designed to advance the academic career of beginning cancer investigators by supporting their translational, clinical, behavioral or population research.

The Social Science Research Council and the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership have announced that applications are now open for the Abe Fellowship for Journalists. The fellowship is designed to encourage in-depth coverage of topics of pressing concern to the United States and Japan through individual short-term policy-related projects. Applicants are invited to submit proposals on one of four themes. 1) Threats to Personal, Societal, and International Security: Topics may include food, water, and energy insecurity; pandemics; climate change; disaster preparedness, prevention, and recovery; and conflict, terrorism, and cyber security. 2) Growth and Sustainable Development: Topics may include global financial stability, trade imbalances and agreements, adjustment to globalization, climate change and adaptation, and poverty and inequality. 3) Social, Scientific, and Cultural Trends and Transformations: Topics may include aging and other demographic change, the benefits and dangers of reproductive genetics, gender and social exclusion, expansion of STEM education among women and underrepresented populations, migration, rural depopulation and urbanization, impacts of automation on jobs, poverty and inequality, and community resilience. 4) Governance, Empowerment, and Participation: Topics may include challenges to democratic institutions, participatory governance, human rights, the changing role of NGO/NPOs, the rise of new media, and government roles in fostering innovation.

The Study of the U. S. Branch (ECA/A/E/USS), Office of Academic Exchange Programs, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), invites proposal submissions from accredited U.S. post-secondary education institutions (community colleges, liberal arts colleges, public and private universities); U.S. public and private non-profit organizations; or consortia of organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) (see section C. Eligibility Information in the Notice of Funding Opportunity) for the design and implementation of twelve (12) Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellowship Institutes. The Institutes should take place in the fall of 2018 and spring of 2019, pending the availability of FY 2018 funds. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship will provide up to approximately 250 undergraduate and recent graduates from throughout Southeast Asia with a foundation in one of three themes: Civic Engagement, Environmental Issues and Natural Resource Management, and Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development. It is ECA's intent to award up to three Cooperative Agreements for the administration of up to twelve FY 2018 YSEALI Academic Fellowship Institutes.

Launched in 2010, the International Affairs Fellowship in South Korea (IAF-SK), sponsored by the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, seeks to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between the rising generations of leaders in the United States and South Korea by expanding cultural exchange and enhancing communication between both countries on global issues. CFR awards several fellowships annually to highly accomplished individuals who have a capacity for independent work and who are eager to undertake serious foreign policy analysis while affiliated with the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in South Korea. The IAF-SK is only open to U.S. citizens. Applicants do not have to be Korea specialists, and knowledge of the Korean language is not a requirement.

University College Cork invites applications for scholarships in the four-year structured PhD programme in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH). Successful candidates will be registered with the full-time inter-disciplinary structured PhD programme co-ordinated with an all-Irish university consortium. Candidates will pursue their individual research agendas within the program, based on projects developed from proposals which they provide during the application process. The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome Prize competition. One of leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities. The Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the academy's eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a private study or studio, and a stipend. The Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Department of Religious Diversity in Göttingen is offering The Ph.D. fellowships are for 3-4 years. The dissertation will be defended at Utrecht University. The postdoctoral fellowships are for one or two years. The research will be done in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in China at Minzu University in Beijing. The projects have to be on the following topics: 1. Study of the relations between Yi and Miao in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Vietnam 2. Study of the effects on ethnic minorities of the opening up of S.W. China to S.E. Asia 3. Social networks beyond ethnicity in China: Case study of the classmates and alumni of Minzu Requirements: For Postdoc: Ph.D. in Social /Cultural Anthropology, Religious Studies, Sociology, Political Science or other related disciplines of the Social Sciences or Humanities. Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese is expected. To that end, the foundation is inviting applications from mainland China for its Fellowship Award in Translational Research. The aim of the program is to build enduring partnership between the U.S. and Asia through the training of future Chinese academics and to encourage long-term collaborations between the two regions. The annual award provides  a one-year fellowship to a qualified candidate to conduct  research  in the area of translational medicine. The program will provide support in the amount of $60,000 for the project to be conducted at the applicant's home institution in China, as well as support for the U.S. partner institution in the amount of $25,000.

The Kennan Institute seeks fellowship applicants from diverse, policy-oriented sectors such as media, business, local government, law, civil society, and academia to examine important political, social, economic, cultural, and historical issues in Russia, Ukraine, and the region. Among the aims of the new fellowships are to build bridges between traditional academia and the policy world, as well as to maintain and increase collaboration among researchers from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S.

The Palestinian American Research Center (PARC) is pleased to announce our fellowship competitions for 2014-2015. Included in these opportunities are doctoral and post-doctoral research fellowships for American citizen as well as post-doctoral research fellowships in the Humanities for US citizens and those living in the US for the last 3 consecutive years. In addition, PARC has a competition for a travel seminar to Palestine for American faculty members at US institutions.

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships offer support to non-Australians to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia. All recipients will receive: $3,000 travel allowance (Provision to pay up to $4,500 under special circumstances) $2,000 (for fellowships) or $4,000 (for scholarships) establishment allowance $3,000 monthly stipend (paid up to the maximum programme duration on a pro-rata basis) tuition fees as shown in the tables below, paid up to the maximum study/research duration on a pro-rata basis. The fellowships are designed to support and foster international Holocaust research. The program is aimed at established as well as younger researchers. As we are interested in a high degree of international cooperation, applications from Germany, Europe as well as from all over the world are welcome. A topic within the field of Holocaust Studies is required in order to be eligible for one of the fellowships.

The twelve-month fellowship is designed to assist mid-career scholars and professionals in advancing their analytic capabilities and broadening their foreign policy experience. The program aims to strengthen career development by helping outstanding individuals acquire and apply foreign policy skills beyond the scope of their professional and scholarly achievements. CFR awards approximately ten fellowships annually to highly accomplished individuals who have a capacity for independent work and who are eager to undertake serious foreign policy analysis.

Through its fellowship programme, UICC aims to support health workers and cancer professionals focussing on cancer control, including cancer prevention, early detection, epidemiology, implementation and translational research, cancer treatment (surgery, radio- and chemotherapy), multidisciplinary patient care, rehabilitation, survivorship and palliative care. In 2018 there are 3 programmes available, the UICC Technical Fellowships (UICC-TF)  which provides the learning of new knowledge and skills in cancer control through a one month visit to an institution abroad, the YY study grants allow established cancer professionals to visit an institution abroad for 3 months to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing, and Bourses pour l'Afrique Francophone for cancer professionals in Francophone Africa.

This call is for a one-year or semester-long fellowship for a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow wishing to work on the history of water law in Israel/Palestine or a related topic (such as the history of water law in a related jurisdiction, the history of related areas of law in Israel/Palestine, legal transfers in the British Empire, etc.). The fellowship is part of the Israel Science Foundation-funded research project headed by Dr. David Schorr: "Private and Public Water Rights in Mandate Palestine and Early Israel". TAU Law and its Berg Institute for Law and History are vibrant and collegial centers of legal history where candidates can expect interactions with a variety of interesting scholars in the field, and access to a wide range of historical and legal databases is available.

Fellowships support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources in the humanities. Through NEH-Mellon Fellowships for Digital Publication, the National Endowment for the Humanities and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation jointly support individual scholars pursuing interpretive research projects that require digital expression and digital publication. To be eligible for this special opportunity, an applicant's plans for digital publication must be essential to the project's research goals. That is, the project must be conceived as digital because the nature of the research and the topics being addressed demand presentation beyond traditional print publication. Successful projects will likely incorporate visual, audio, and/or other multimedia materials or flexible reading pathways that could not be included in traditionally published books, as well as an active distribution plan.
