The Baylor University Institute for Oral History invites individual scholars with training and experience in oral history research who are conducting oral history interviews to apply for support of up to $3,000 for the academic year 2013-2014. With this award, the Institute seeks to partner with one scholar who is using oral history to address new questions and offer fresh perspectives on a subject area in which the research method has not yet been extensively applied. Interdisciplinary, cross-cultural research on local, national, or international subjects is welcome.

Through its fellowship programs, the Starr Center supports innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to the American past - especially by fostering the art of written history. Visiting fellows find a place where they can retreat from daily responsibilities and focus on their writing projects - but also one where they are stimulated by interactions with students, faculty, and distinguished visitors. The Center's Patrick Henry Writing Fellowship supports outstanding writing on American history and culture by both scholars and nonacademic authors; it offers a $45,000 stipend for the academic year, plus living arrangements and other benefits. The Hodson Trust-John Carter Brown Fellowship is open to applicants from a wide range of disciplines who are pursuing projects on the literature, history, culture, or art of the Americas before 1830. The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress invites qualified scholars to apply for a postdoctoral fellowship for advanced research based on the Kislak Collection. The Kislak Collection is a major collection of rare books, manuscripts, historic documents, maps and art of the Americas donated to the Library of Congress by the Jay I. Kislak Foundation of Miami Lakes, Fla. The collection contains some of the earliest records of indigenous peoples in North America and superb objects from the discovery, contact, and colonial periods, especially for Florida, the Caribbean, and Mesoamerica. The Kislak Fellows Program supports scholarly research that contributes significantly to a greater understanding of the history and cultures of the Americas. It provides an opportunity for a period of up to 8 months of concentrated use of materials from the Kislak Collection and other collections of the Library of Congress, through full-time residency at the Library. The program supports research projects in the disciplines of archaeology, history, cartography, epigraphy, linguistics, ethno-history, ethnography, bibliography and sociology, with particular emphasis on Florida, the circum-Caribbean region and Mesoamerica. We encourage interdisciplinary projects that combine disciplines in novel and productive ways.

The Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) is an Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Heidelberg. Building on the structures established by the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context," it is open to scholars especially in the humanities and the social sciences. Founded in April 2013, the Institute assembles scholars from all over the world to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue and to enhance their understanding of transcultural processes. The institute offers an M.A. and a Doctoral Programme in Transcultural Studies. In addition to five permanent fellows (the HCTS professorships in Transcultural Studies), a group of senior and junior fellows is invited each year to join the HCTS to pursue their own research and to engage in discussions with other fellows as well as graduate students around a common theme. Fellows can choose to be in residence in Heidelberg for a period ranging from between six months to two academic years.

ARIT / National Endowment for the Humanities Advanced Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2014-2015. ARIT/NEH Advanced Fellowships cover all fields of the humanities, including prehistory, history, art, archaeology, literature, and linguistics as well as interdisciplinary aspects of cultural history for applicants who have completed their academic training. The fellowships may be held for terms ranging from four months to a full year. Stipends range from $16,800 to 50,400. ARIT Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2014-2015. ARIT Fellowships are offered for research in ancient, medieval, or modern times, in any field of the humanities and social sciences. Post-doctoral and advanced doctoral fellowships may be held for various terms, for terms from one to three months up to one academic year. Stipends range from $4,000 to $16,000. Applications for ARIT fellowships must be submitted to ARIT before November 1, 2013. The fellowship committee will notify applicants by late January, 2014. ARIT LANGUAGE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS 2014. ARIT - Princeton Summer Fellowships for Intensive Advanced Turkish Language at Bogazici University, Istanbul, summer 2014. The program supports intensive study of advanced Turkish language at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey, including air fare, tuition, and stipend. The application deadline is February 1.

Society for the History of Children and Youth OUTREACH GRANTS 2014 The SHCY will award two $500 grants and one $1500 grant for events that take place in 2014 to projects related to the history of children and youth deemed worthy by the Outreach and Executive Committees of the SHCY. 1. The $500 grants will help defray expenses for speakers, workshops, and other scholarly events fully or partially devoted to the history of children and youth. Possible uses: *Keynote speakers or panelists *Receptions *Printed materials *Publicity *Support for students attending the event 2. The $1500 grant will help offset the costs of a regional conference dedicated to the history of children and youth and held in 2014. The Society is particularly interested in supporting programs that address the the histories of children and youth in interdisciplinary and transnational ways. It encompasses a broad spectrum of STS topics including interdisciplinary studies of ethics, equity, governance, and policy issues that are closely related to STEM disciplines, including medical science.

SEFER Center awards grants to support research projects in multiple disciplines on Russian Jewry. The subject of the research may comprise different aspects of Jewish history and culture within the territory of former Russian Empire during various historical periods from the ancient times till post-soviet contemporary period. The grant covers the entire variety of humanitarian and social areas (history, literature, linguistics, art history, education, philosophy, religion studies, sociology, political science etc.), as well as interdisciplinary studies. The Center provides researchers, teachers and PhD students with financial support for implementation of academic researches, preparation of monographs, articles and dissertation theses. The grant program is intended for researches from Russia and abroad, including Europe, USA and Canada, Israel and Australia.

The funding program is designed to be interdisciplinary and to facilitate projects in which there are varied dimensions to the examination of abandoned cities. At the same time, there should be a focus on causal correlations, both with regard to specific individual cultures and spanning all cultures, and on specifics of place and time. Thus far, such places have emerged for very different reasons, including military destruction, natural disasters, epidemics, environmental pollution, economic collapse, financial speculation, mobility, migration, centralization, deindustrialization, or post-colonial change, to name but a few. The aim of the program is to describe the tangible cultures of interpretation, knowledge and perception within these different contexts. Lost Cities are part of a distinct culture of memory, for example, which serves for the negotiation of identities, the preservation of knowledge cultures, the formulation of criticism of progress, or the construction of mythical or sacral topographies as part of a veritable "ruin cult". On this basis, the focus here should not be on the question of which factors led to the city's abandonment. Rather, it is the abandoned cities themselves that are of particular interest, as well as the different forms of their interpretation, instrumentalization and coding in various cultures and time frames.

The Albert Einstein Fellowship supports creative, interdisciplinary thought by giving young scholars the chance to pursue research outside their previous area of work. Candidates must be under 35 and hold a university degree in the humanities, in the social sciences, or in the natural sciences. Applications for 2019 should include a CV, a two-page project proposal, and two letters of recommendation. All documents must be received by April 15, 2018. At the end of the fellowship period, the fellow will be expected to present his or her project in a public lecture at the Einstein Forum and at the Daimler and Benz Foundation. The Einstein Fellowship is not intended for applicants who wish to complete an academic study they have already begun. A successful application must demonstrate the quality, originality, and feasibility of the proposed project, as well as the superior intellectual development of the applicant. It is not relevant whether the applicant has begun working toward, or currently holds, a PhD. The proposed project need not be entirely completed during the time of the fellowship, but can be the beginning of a longer project. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO FELLOWSHIPS WILL BE GIVEN FOR DISSERTATION RESEARCH. THE PROPOSED PROJECT MUST BE SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT IN CONTENT, AND PREFERABLY FIELD AND FORM, FROM THE APPLICANT'S PREVIOUS WORK.

The American Research Institute in Turkey takes pleasure in inviting applications for one to three advanced long-term fellowships for research in Turkey made possible by support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The fields of study cover all periods of history in the general range of the humanities and include humanistically oriented aspects of the social sciences, prehistory, history, art, archaeology, literature, and linguistics, as well as interdisciplinary aspects of cultural history. The fellowships tenures range from four to twelve continuous months during 2018-2019. Stipends of $4,200 per month are awarded on the basis of individual proposals. Scholars who have completed their formal training by the application deadline and plan to carry out research in Turkey for four months or longer may apply. They may be U.S. citizens or three-year residents of the U.S. Please consult ARIT U.S. office for questions of eligibility. Advanced scholars may also apply for ARIT Fellowships in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Program Background Information The purpose of this grant program is to provide seed money for projects that lead directly to the identification, preservation, and interpretation of battlefield land or historic sites associated with battlefields. B. Program Objectives The ABPP encourages an interdisciplinary, holistic approach to battlefield preservation. Grant proposals for projects that fit into a larger vision for the site are favored. To maximize effectiveness of battlefield protection efforts, applicant organizations are encouraged to work with partner organizations and Federal, State and local government agencies as early as possible to integrate their efforts into a larger battle site protection strategy. C. Term of the Agreement Agreement terms for funded projects are estimated to range between one and two years, depending on the negotiated project scope. Agreements are not effective until fully executed with signature from the NPS Awarding Officer. In most cases an agreement will expire after five years from the effective date, unless terminated earlier in accordance with 2 CFR, Part 200, Sections 200.338 and 200.339.

The DePaul University Humanities Center (DHC) is inviting applications for Visiting Fellows for 2020-2021. All applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent, and research projects must be in the humanities. International applications will be considered. Fellowships may run for nine months (from September 2020 to June 2021) or six months (from January 2021 to June 2021). During their tenure, Visiting Fellows are required to make an intellectual contribution to the DePaul community and participate in the programming and activities of the DHC and the university. We are especially interested in applications that involve a project around the theme of "Age," broadly construed. All applications regardless of topic will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants who draw connections between their proposed project and the 2020-21 DHC theme, "Age." NB: The DHC will be hosting events that touch on such topics as the analog age and the era of cassette tapes; child liberation; birth & infancy; the juvenile justice system; the gendering of age; childhood, games, and gaming; and sexuality and privacy in the golden years. Ultimately, we are interested in interdisciplinary, creative, innovative projects that take up the theme of "Age."

Each year, approximately 25 scholars are selected as Members in the School of Social Science. A completed doctorate or equivalent is required by the application deadline. Memberships are awarded at both the junior and senior levels. They are for the full academic year only unless the scholar is from a country with an academic calendar that is substantially different than the one in the U.S., in which case single-term Memberships will be considered. Scholars may be considered for a second residency if a sufficient amount of time has passed since their initial Membership. Members are expected only to pursue their own research and participate in the seminars. The theme for 2021-22 is "Political Mobilizations and Social Movements," but applications outside the theme are also welcomed. An interdisciplinary dialogue will be fostered and applications are strongly encouraged from scholars across the social sciences, whether or not their research corresponds to the theme.   Funding for Member stipends is individually negotiated, taking into account the applicant's base salary and the level of sabbatical and other grant support that he or she can secure. In setting compensation, the School attempts to provide half of the current academic base salary for all Members, up to a maximum stipend of $75,000.

Travel grants of up to $2,500 are available to support research between August 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020 in the Special and Area Studies Collections of University of Florida. Proposals are due Friday, May 17, 2019, with award notifications expected to be made the week of June 17, 2019. Evaluation criteria include interdisciplinarity, use of more than one collection, and a tangible publication or scholarly outcome. Awardees must travel 100 miles or farther to be eligible. Grants are available for research in any of the department's collections and must be used for onsite research.
