    The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Gender Equity: Women's Equality, Empowerment and Leadership through Safe Higher Educational and Work Spaces." Through this grant project, the grantee will establish partnerships with five Indian universities/ colleges to organize five gender sensitization training workshops for 125 faculty of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI's) and conduct gender and safety audits at these institutions. Each workshop would be led by an eminent American feminist scholar or activist in addition to Indian experts. The workshops should predominantly be in Tier II Indian cities including one in North India and one each in the American Consulate districts (Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad). As part of the workshop, the grantee will organize and implement a creative exhibition/installation/performance showcasing narratives on safe and gender-just work places and campuses. This will help pave the way for strong coalitions to promote the advancement of women in society, and reduce the use of stereotypes that keep women in lower-level roles.     The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi is pleased to announce an open competition for an implementing partner for the Promoting Gender Equality in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Exchange Program (1) to facilitate a clear understanding of key barriers to female participation in TVET and analyze their implications in women's employment and economic empowerment; (2) to provide practical tools and guidance on how to mainstream gender effectively into the TVET institutional structures, systems, programs and activities; and (3) to strengthen the capacity of TVET providers to overcome gender disparity in student recruitment and retention. U.S. non-profit/non-governmental organizations, public and private educational institutions, including TVET providers, may submit proposals to manage a year-long project to support the professional development of the staff of select Georgian TVET institutions through a robust professional study tour at U.S. training centers, with site visits to the relevant TVET institutions, partners, and policymakers in the United States. PAS intends to award a cooperative agreement for an estimated amount of $225,000 to defray the costs for the preliminary needs assessment trip to Georgia, followed by a three-week intensive study tour in the United States for up to 12 participants, and follow-up visit in Georgia for evaluation and further consultations.

    The Global Equality Fund, managed by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) announces a Request for Statements of Interest (SOIs) from civil society to protect the human rights of LGBT people. Launched in December 2011, the Global Equality Fund aims to support the work of civil society organizations working to protect and advance the human rights of LGBT persons globally. Partners of the Global Equality Fund include the governments of Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden as well as the Arcus Foundation, the John D. Evans Foundation, LLH: the Norwegian LGBT Organization, the M?A?C AIDS Fund, Deloitte, and USAID. This solicitation is the first step in a two-part process. After reviewing SOIs, selected organizations will be invited to expand their ideas into full proposals at a later date. The intention of requesting SOIs first is to provide organizations with time to focus on submitting creative and new ideas to address human rights challenges facing LGBT persons and their advocates. The Global Equality Fund is part of DRL?s broader initiative to support at-risk and vulnerable populations, including women, people with disabilities, racial and ethnic minorities, and religious minorities.

Global Equality Fund: Strengthening Legal Protection for LGBTI Persons - 0 views

    The U.S. Embassy Manila Political Section (POL) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Global Equality Fund. This is an Annual Program Statement, outlining our funding priorities, the strategic themes we focus on, and the procedures for submitting requests for funding. POL Manila invites proposals for projects that seek to provide assistance to local government units (LGUs) that have already passed local anti-discrimination ordinances, which include protections based on sexual orientation or gender identity, to move toward effective implementation. This project would also provide program opportunities that contribute to strengthening legal protections for LGBTI persons, a primary goal of the Embassy's Strategy to Reduce Violence Targeting LGBTI Persons. Activities contemplated under this grant would complement past and present efforts to protect the human rights of LGBTI individuals. The proposed program aligns with Embassy Manila's strategic goals of advancing democratic values, transforming governance, and protecting human rights while engaging the Philippine public and building networks to advance shared foreign policy interests.

    The goal of this grant is to hold a one-week program to train girls ages 13-17, and mentors ages 18-25 from two at-risk communities on the north coast and/or the D.R.-Haiti border. The soccer clinics coached by two current or retired US women's soccer players will promote sports as a tool for gender equality and conflict resolution. The program must include life skills, empowerment, health, and/or personal development workshops to help girls create life plans and prevent teenage pregnancy, school dropout and other risky behaviors while promoting healthy choices, good decision making and planning for the future. The program will consist of two two-day clinics (one per community), including both soccer skills clinics and life skills sessions. While the focus for younger participants aged 13-17 would be these soccer and life skills development, young women aged 18-25 would be able to learn from the professional soccer players and other educators to work towards becoming mentors themselves. Alumni of U.S. government exchange programs may be invited to serve as mentors and facilitators.

    The Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program serves to increase access to multi-user scientific and engineering instrumentation for research and research training in our Nation's institutions of higher education and not-for-profit scientific/engineering research organizations. An MRI award supports the acquisition or development of a multi-user research instrument that is, in general, too costly and/or not appropriate for support through other NSF programs. MRI provides support to acquire critical research instrumentation without which advances in fundamental science and engineering research may not otherwise occur. MRI also provides support to develop next-generation research instruments that open new opportunities to advance the frontiers in science and engineering research. Additionally, an MRI award is expected to enhance research training of students who will become the next generation of instrument users, designers and builders. An MRI proposal may request up to $4 million for either acquisition or development of a research instrument. Beginning with the FY 2018 competition, each performing organization may submit in revised "Tracks" as defined below, with no more than two submissions in Track 1 and no more than one submission in Track 2.rack 1: Track 1 MRI proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than or equal to $100,000. Track 2 MRI proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than or equal to $1,000,000 up to and including $4,000,000.Consistent with the America COMPETES Act of 2007 Cost sharing of precisely 30% of the total project cost is required for Ph.D.-granting institutions of higher education and for non-degree-granting organizations.

    Since 1881, the American Association of University Women has worked nationally to improve the lives of millions of women and their families. The organization currently is inviting applications for its American Fellowships program. Through the program, grants will be awarded to  women scholars who are completing dissertations, planning research leave from accredited institutions, or preparing research for publication. Three categories of awards are supported through the program and are open to women scholars in all fields of study. American Dissertation Fellowships - Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to offset a scholar's living expenses while she completes her dissertation. Fellowships are open to applicants in all fields of study, and women scholars engaged in STEM fields or researching gender issues are especially encouraged to apply. Fellowships must be used for the final year of dissertation writing, and applicants must have completed all course work, passed all preliminary examinations, and received approval for their research proposals or plans by November 1, 2019. The doctoral degree/dissertation must be completed between April 1 and June 30, 2021, and degree conferral must be between April 1 and September 15, 2021.

    Founded in 2001 as a permanent endowment of the Akron Community Foundation, the Gay Community Endowment Fund advances a lived equality for all LGBTQ+ people in greater Akron by investing in strategic and responsive grantmaking that empowers the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. To advance this mission, grants of at least $10,000 will be awarded to projects aimed at improving the health and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community. Priority will be given to projects that create safer environments for LGBTQ+ youth, combat phobia of the LGBTQ+ community, and support mental health and suicide prevention programs for LGBTQ+ people. In addition, micro-grants of at least $1,000 will be awarded for a wider range of programs that benefit the LGBTQ+ community, including but not limited to the arts, community events, and nonprofit operational needs. In preparation for the new grant cycle, the Gay Community Endowment Fund will host an information session for local nonprofit leaders on Thursday, November 8, at 3:00 p.m. at the Akron Community Foundation. The fund will begin accepting applications on November 15. Separate applications will be available for each type of grant, and decisions will be announced in early March.     n support of the Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative (W-GDP), the Bureau of International Labor Affairs, U.S. Department of Labor announces the availability of approximately $5,000,000 total costs (subject to the availability of Federal funds) for one cooperative to fund one technical assistance project in Colombia to economically empower vulnerable women and girls. The objective of the project is to reduce the risk of child labor, forced labor, and other violations of labor rights for vulnerable women and girls within the agricultural sector.
