The goal of the Pension Counseling & Information Program is to help individuals understand and exercise their pension rights The regional counseling projects promote protection of the rights, financial security, and independence of older individuals and empower them to make informed choices for a secure retirement. Successful applicants will demonstrate a proven record of advising and representing individuals who have been denied employer or union-sponsored pensions or other retirement savings plan benefits, and will have the capacity to deliver services on a regional basis.

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces a Request for Statements of Interest (RSOI) from civil society organizations to promote and protect the human rights of marginalized populations. This request is seeking programs that take an intersectional approach to addressing violence and discrimination targeting marginalized populations, which undermine society’s collective security, and programs that provide marginalized populations with tools to prevent, mitigate and recover from violence.

The Family Violence Prevention and Services Discretionary Grants Program will support one national capacity building center focused on delivering comprehensive training and technical assistance to enhance safe, supportive, and sustainable housing for survivors of domestic violence. The Center's primary purpose will be to strengthen coordination between domestic violence, housing, and homeless service providers. More specifically, it will develop resources for integrating responses to the complex and diverse needs of domestic violence survivors throughout the crisis-response system, including assessment, safety planning, voluntary and flexible supportive services, and access to emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and permanent housing. The Center will also provide training at the local state, and national level regarding victim privacy and confidentiality especially as it relates to data collection. Additionally, it will offer strategies for including domestic violence service providers as full partners in local Continuum of Care (CoC) planning and implementation efforts aimed at delivering client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally relevant services tailored to the individual needs of survivors of domestic violence and their children. The Center also will document best practices and lessons learned from the domestic violence, homelessness, and housing fields related to rapid rehousing and housing first projects for domestic violence survivors; coordinated assessment; transitional housing; and progressive engagement/supportive services. And finally, the Center will identify promising practices that promote the physical and emotional well-being, resilience, and long term safety, security and housing stability of families impacted by domestic violence.

The U.S. Embassy in Kigali, Political and Economic section is seeking proposals for community projects designed to support high-impact, quick-implementation activities which benefit a large number of people within one year without requiring further assistance. Projects that support and promote livelihoods, food security, employment (particularly youth employment and employment of members of the community with disabilities), women's empowerment, and tradeable skills are preferred.

The goal of Grief Reach, administered by the National Alliance for Grieving Children with funding from the New York Life Foundation, is to provide support for children's bereavement programs in order to expand their reach to underserved youth populations. In 2018, Grief Reach is offering the following two programs: Community Expansion Grants, ranging from $15,000 to $100,000, fund program expansion to include bereaved children and teens not currently served by existing services. Capacity Building Grants of $10,000 help nonprofit organizations to secure the professional assistance necessary to enhance organizational capacity and address issues of organizational development and effectiveness. Applications for Cycle 1 will be accepted from March 5 through April 5, 2018; applications for Cycle 2 will be accepted from June 28 through July 26, 2018. The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) is to strengthen district, state and national public health systems in India to sustain and continue advancement of Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) priorities to prevent, detect, and respond to disease threats across the country. This NOFO will help augment and transition GHSA assisted activities increasingly to Government of India (GoI) including, but not limited to the following Ministry of Family Health and Welfare (MoHFW) institutions: National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); National Health Mission (NHM); and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Other key institutions include the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAD); the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA); and the All Indian Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). This NOFO will focus on supporting logistical and technical requirements in five core public health capacities among these GoI institutions: antimicrobial resistance (AMR); workforce development capacity; surveillance and outbreak response; safe laboratory systems and diagnostics; public health emergency response capacity. Also, this NOFO will support GHSA governance efforts within the GoI for effective implementation of GHSA activities and International Health Regulations (IHR) compliance.

Cooperative agreements awarded under this Funding Opportunity Announcement will support projects to state, county, and tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs to plan and develop a comprehensive approach for integrating innovative strategies in one of two select activities: (1) to increase the use of innovative client coaching to foster the success of TANF participants in securing and retaining work; or (2) to integrate career pathway, occupation-focused employment models into TANF programs. The overall purpose for the programs, services, and activities supported by this funding is to improve the employment outcomes of TANF participants. In addition, the program is intended to foster connections and partnerships between state TANF agencies and local scholars/ researchers interested in TANF management and policy. Successful applicants will participate in a TANF Policy Academy for Innovative Employment Strategies as a part of the concept development process for implementation and assessment.

The SBIR program is Congressionally mandated and intended to support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of federal research funds to build a strong national economy by stimulating technological innovation in the private sector; strengthening the role of small business in meeting federal research and development needs; increasing the commercial application of federally supported research results; and fostering and encouraging participation by socially and economically disadvantaged and women-owned small businesses. The SBIR program at NSF solicits proposals from the small business sector consistent with NSF's mission to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; and to secure the national defense. A main purpose of the legislation is to stimulate technological innovation and increase private sector commercialization. The NSF SBIR/STTR program is therefore in a unique position to meet both the goals of NSF and the purpose of the SBIR/STTR legislation by transforming scientific discovery and innovation into both social and economic benefit, and by emphasizing private sector commercialization.

Through this announcement, the Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from public or private non-profit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations, or for-profit organizations that wish to compete for funds that are available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start services to children and families residing in the City of Houston in Harris County, Texas. Funds in the amount of $21,244,097 annually will be available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start program services to eligible children and their families.
