The National Council on Disability (NCD) is seeking proposals for a report series on bioethics and disability. The report series will examine policies and practices related to the availability of medical interventions and life-saving medical care for people with disabilities. It will examine five specific areas where disability and bioethics intersect, with a focus on how a person's disability impacts medical decisions: organ transplants; medical futility; physician assisted suicide; genetic testing for fetal disability; and Quality Adjusted Life Years. Each report will make findings and recommendations aimed at improving access to life-saving medical care for people with disabilities, and improving the understanding of policy makers and the medical community on the value of the lives of people with disabilities.

The “Partner Actions to Improve Oral Health” program is a five-year competitive renewal to continue CDC investment in and support of oral health promotion and disease prevention programs. The purpose is to build the strength and effectiveness of state oral health programs recipients to prevent and control oral diseases and related conditions. Under component 1, recipient will work with all NOFO DP18-1810 funded programs to provide technical assistance, training, and capacity building resources for: 1) the Basic Screening Survey, 2) evidence-based oral health strategies (i.e., school sealant programs and community water fluoridation) and infection prevention and control practices, 3) oral health surveillance, 4) evaluation of oral health programs, and 5) reports on the oral health program capacity for all 50 states (CDC-funded and non-funded states). Under component 2, recipient will work with six programs selected NOFO DP18-1810 to integrate oral health with other chronic disease programs (i.e., medical/dental integration). Recipient will provide technical assistance for medical/dental integration programs, and compile examples of effective medical/dental integration programs and strategies. The proposed program will replace and build upon FOA 13-1313 [FY2013-FY2018]. Successful implementation and execution of the NOFO strategies will result in decreases in dental caries, oral health disparities, and co-morbid chronic diseases.

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) is to strengthen district, state and national public health systems in India to sustain and continue advancement of Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) priorities to prevent, detect, and respond to disease threats across the country. This NOFO will help augment and transition GHSA assisted activities increasingly to Government of India (GoI) including, but not limited to the following Ministry of Family Health and Welfare (MoHFW) institutions: National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); National Health Mission (NHM); and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Other key institutions include the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAD); the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA); and the All Indian Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). This NOFO will focus on supporting logistical and technical requirements in five core public health capacities among these GoI institutions: antimicrobial resistance (AMR); workforce development capacity; surveillance and outbreak response; safe laboratory systems and diagnostics; public health emergency response capacity. Also, this NOFO will support GHSA governance efforts within the GoI for effective implementation of GHSA activities and International Health Regulations (IHR) compliance.

The anticipated amount available for FAP in FY 2017 is approximately $2,293,000. NIFA requests applications for the Mental Health Research Project (MHRP) for the fiscal year FY 2017 to support the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA) MHRP in promoting the psychological health and well being for Airmen and there families through staff development, consultation, program and resource development; program evaluation, and data tracking.The primary objective for this project is to assess, develop, and evaluate programming to treat and prevent mental health problems to support the Mental Health Division of the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA).This work also supports the mission of the DoD-USDA Partnership for Military Families Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2010 by NIFA and DoD senior leadership. The goal of the MOU is "…to enhance federal interagency coordination and build capacity for partnerships and collaboration among the agencies and across public and private sectors to sustain programs and services for military service members and their families."

This notice solicits applications for Advancing Systems of Services for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs. The purpose of this program is to improve health and well-being for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and their families by addressing three core systems focus areas for CYSHCN-access to patient/family-centered medical home, transition of youth into the adult health care system, and adoption of health care financing models that improve care and outcomes while achieving cost savings. This program will establish a national collaborative network of resource centers supporting state Title V programs, families of CYSHCN, child health professionals, and other stakeholders through the provision of technical assistance, training, education, partnership building, policy analysis, and research. Program Goal: The overall goal of this program is to strengthen the system of services for CYSHCN and their families by awarding three separate and distinct cooperative agreements. Cooperative agreements will be awarded to three recipients, who will collaborate to establish a national network of resource centers, with one center awarded for each of the following three focus areas: (1) Patient/family-centered medical home; (2) Transition of youth into the adult health care system; and (3) Health care financing models that improve care and outcomes while achieving cost savings. The three recipients will coordinate efforts to achieve quality care, decrease health care costs, and improve experience of care for CYSHCN and their families. The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces the availability of funds for the fiscal year 2018 Direct Services for Survivors of Torture (DS SOT) grant program. The purpose of the DS SOT program is to increase access to strengths-based, trauma-informed services that assist survivors of torture and their families in the healing and recovery process. Under this grant program, direct services are provided to persons who have been tortured on foreign soil under the color of law. The program offers holistic and integrated services including medical, psychological, legal, and social work. All of these services are provided either directly by the grantee or indirectly through partner organizations or affiliates.

The purpose of this FOA is to test a model of quality clinical care addressing childhood obesity for U.S. low-income children, especially those enrolled in or eligible for health care coverage under the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicaid. Specifically, the purpose of this FOA is to implement and test the ability of a model of clinical childhood obesity management along with a EHR-referral-based, family-centered pediatric weight management program, to reduce body mass index (BMI) in children with obesity, or overweight with risks (including, e.g., medical and behavioral risks, and family history).

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will fund a Quality Improvement Center (QIC) that will support demonstration sites that establish or enhance collaborative community court teams to design, implement and test approaches to meet the requirements of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) of 2010 as amended by the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 (CARA) and that better meet the needs of infants and families affected by substance use disorder and prenatal substance exposure. This FOA is intended to build on and enhance the basic collaborative approach offered by the Quality Improvement Center for Research-Based Infant Toddler Court Teams (QIC-ITCT) to specifically address the needs of infants, young children, and their parents or caregivers affected by substance use disorder. The FOA is intended to produce sustainable approaches and strategies that will be useful nationally in addressing this epidemic.The QIC must support demonstration sites in assessing their current capacity to collaboratively address the health and substance use disorder treatment needs of infants, young children and their parents or caregivers, and create or enhance a continuous quality improvement approach for ensuring that local entities work effectively across systems and best understand whether and in what manner they are providing services in accordance with CARA's state requirements. The demonstration sites must involve intensive collaboration among the child welfare agency, Court Improvement Program, local courts, legal community, substance abuse treatment providers, preventative service providers, mental health providers, medical providers, and other key stakeholders.

Cat 1: This program will fund a national membership and accreditation organization for children’s advocacy center programs. The funding will enable the successful applicant to provide services to membership organizations and to implement standards for program accreditation. Cat 2: This program will provide funding to manage a national grant awards program for local children’s advocacy center programs. Cat 3: This program funds CACs to provide services for child pornography victims. Cat 4: This program will fund a national organization to implement a pilot program targeted to communities with substantial military installations for the purpose of establishing CAC models inclusive of the following military partners; military investigative agencies, medical and Command personnel, and Family Advocacy Program representatives.

To support Interact for Health's strategic priority of addressing the opioid epidemic, we are seeking grant applications from our 20-county service area to: * increase the number of people in our region receiving evidence-informed treatment for opioid use disorder, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and * increase the number of evidence-based, trauma-informed care services that identify and support children affected by the opioid epidemic

In addition to providing respite care and enjoyable group activities that build on the strengths and abilities of participants, the programs offer family caregivers access to services such as counseling, support groups, information and referral, training, and education. With a nationwide network of programs providing regular respite services, the program demonstrates that a cost-effective social model of adult day services can successfully address the special needs of Alzheimer's families. To that end, grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded to up to fifteen Group Respite and Early Memory Loss programs to develop a new dementia-specific social model program. Grant funds may not be used to support or expand the hours, days, or service capacity of existing social, health, or medical model programs or to serve mixed populations. Applications must be received no later than June 27.

Pharmaceutical company AmerisourceBergen created the AmerisourceBergen Foundation as a separate not-for-profit charitable organization with the aim of supporting health and education-related causes that enrich the lives of its global community. To accomplish that goal, the foundation provides funding for programs and organizations focused on expanding access to quality healthcare - both human and animal - around the world. In the view of the foundation, the current epidemic of opioid abuse and misuse is a crisis that demands attention, action, and accountability. Understanding the need for expediency, the foundation is inviting grant-funded nonprofit organizations to submit proposals that describe how it can best contribute resources and funding to address opioid abuse and misuse. Grants will be awarded for the most innovative and constructive solutions in one of two key areas of focus: safe disposal and education around prevention. Applicants are strongly encouraged to identify and leverage existing, proven, evidence-based frameworks and strategies, as well as existing tools and materials, but may also propose original and innovative projects. Applications focused on education may address a spectrum of needs, but priority will be given to the effective dissemination of the following topics: provider education about appropriate opioid prescribing; patient education about the risks and effects of prescription opioids, and what to do if they have concerns about addiction; public education, especially aimed at rural communities; training to reduce youth risk factors (such as delinquency) and boost protective factors (such as decision-making skills for problem solving and resisting peer pressure; addiction as a childhood onset condition; preventing teens from initiating problematic opioid use in the first place; and advising parents of teens to lock up prescription opioid medications and dispose of old pills.

This notice solicits applications for the Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) Screening and Education program. The purpose of this program is to: 1) increase awareness and knowledge about SCID and newborn screening for SCID among parents, families, health care providers, public health professionals, and the public; 2) provide education, training, and support for newborn screening programs; 3) educate families with children diagnosed with SCID and link them to clinical and other services, especially those in rural and medically underserved areas; and 4) improve clinical care through education and training for providers caring for individuals with SCID.

The AABC Foundation, was established in 1994 by American Association of Birth Centers to advance public knowledge and understanding of issues related to family-centered childbirth. The foundation raises funds to support the advancement of the AABC birth center model as the standard to improve maternity and women's health care. Based on wellness model of pregnancy and birth, the birth center is a homelike facility, operating with a healthcare system. Birth centers are guided by principles of prevention of complication, sensitivity to the needs of the individual family, safety for both mother and baby, appropriate use of medical intervention, and cost effective care. Birth centers provide family-centered care for healthy women before, during, and after normal pregnancy, labor, and birth. To advance its mission, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 to support research projects on issues related to the birth center model of care. The program is open to individuals or organizations and nonprofit status or sponsorship is not required. However, applicants must demonstrate capacity and a plan to complete the research in accordance with the project's timeline.

This notice solicits applications for the R40 Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Field-Initiated Innovative Research Studies (FIRST) Program. The purpose of the MCH FIRST Program grant is to advance the health and wellbeing of MCH populations by supporting innovative, applied, and translational intervention[1] research studies on critical issues affecting MCH populations. [1] For the purpose of this NOFO, an "intervention" is defined to include behavioral, social, or structural / health systems approaches, as well as combination applied clinico-medical and behavioral, social, or structural / health system approaches that contribute to the prevention of diseases or improvement of health (including clinical) outcomes for mothers, children and families at a population level.

The Administration for Children and Families, Administration on Children, Youth and Families' Family and Youth Services Bureau announces the availability of funds under the Title V Competitive Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (CSRAE) Program. The purpose of the CSRAE is to fund projects to implement sexual risk avoidance education that teaches participants how to voluntarily refrain from non-marital sexual activity. The goals of CSRAE are to empower participants to make healthy decisions, and provide tools and resources to prevent pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and youth engagement in other risky behaviors. Successful applicants must agree to use medically accurate information referenced to peer-reviewed publications by educational, scientific, governmental, or health organizations; implement an evidence-based approach integrating research findings with practical implementation that aligns with the needs and desired outcomes for the intended audience; and teach the benefits associated with self-regulation, success sequencing for poverty prevention, healthy relationships, goal setting, and resisting sexual coercion, dating violence, and other youth risk behaviors such as underage drinking or illicit drug use without normalizing teen sexual activity. The SRAE legislation requires unambiguous and primary emphasis and context for each of the topics to be addressed in program implementation. Additionally, there is a requirement that messages to youth normalize the optimal health behavior of avoiding non-marital sexual activity.
