    This new requirement is to provide care and rehabilitation services of injured, ill and orphaned birds and other terrestrial wildlife at a licensed wildlife rehabilitation agency or organization in compliance with applicable state and federal laws within Marine Corps Base Twentynine Palms. Approximately 30 animals are to be cared for and rehabilitated within a twelve (12) month period. Regulatory drivers include the Endangered Species Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act (wildlife affected often fall under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act species list). Project ties into the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan by providing quality management of species, complying with regulatory drivers, and providing research on impacts to wildlife from daily operational activities at the installation, as well as minimizing that impact by providing rehabilitation services to wildlife - thus supporting the military mission.

    The United States Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA) established an annual, competitive grants program to support projects that promote the conservation of neotropical migratory birds and their habitats in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Division of Bird Habitat Conservation (DBHC) is responsible for managing the NMBCA grants program and administers all grants.     The overall goal of the program is to improve the quality and connectivity of forest and freshwater habitat in order to increase the distribution and abundance of fish, birds and other wildlife, as evidenced by a suite of species that collectively are indicators of forest and freshwater habitat condition. The program aims to: improve the management of public and private forestlands in order to create blocks with a mosaic of mixed-aged forests that support a diversity of bird and wildlife species, especially targeting golden-winged warbler, wood thrush and cerulean warbler; and bolster populations of eastern brook trout, eastern hellbender and native freshwater mussels by removing barriers to fish passage, restoring riparian and in-stream habitat, and improving water quality and hydrology. Applicants are encouraged to deploy a range of strategies to engage public and private landowners in active stewardship through technical and financial assistance, demonstrations, education and outreach and other innovative approaches.

    NSF-funded advancements are enabling a wide variety of beneficial applications of UAS in areas such as monitoring and inspection of physical infrastructure, prevention of airport bird strikes, smart emergency/disaster response, natural gas leak detection, agriculture support, personal services, and observation and study of weather phenomena including severe storms. These advances are made possible through fundamental investments in theoretical principles of UAS, including intelligent sensing, perception, and control; estimation; communications; collaboration and teaming; UAS adaptation and learning; human-UAS interaction; and safety, security, and privacy of UAS. These novel fundamental approaches enable increased understanding of how to intelligently and effectively design, control, and apply UAS to beneficial applications. NSF welcomes proposals that accelerate fundamental technological advances in UAS; these proposals should be submitted to existing CISE and ENG core and crosscutting research programs, following all proposal preparation instructions specified in the corresponding program announcements and solicitations. All proposals must meet the requirements of NSF's Grant Proposal Guide (GPG), along with any program- or solicitation-specific proposal preparation instructions and review criteria.     The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative targets the most significant environmental problems in the Great Lakes ecosystem by funding and implementing federal projects that address these problems. One goal is to improve habitat and wildlife protection and restoration. Using funding from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Partners for Fish and Wildlife (PFW) Program anticipates funding wetland and associated upland habitat restoration and enhancement projects for conservation of native Great Lakes fish and wildlife populations, particularly migratory birds. Restoration projects will be completed on privately owned (nonfederal/nonstate) lands. Emphasis will be placed on, but not limited to, completing projects within the watersheds of Great Lakes Areas of Concern. The Partners for Fish and Wildlife (PFW) Program is a voluntary, incentive-based program that provides direct technical assistance and financial assistance in the form of cooperative agreements to private landowners to restore and conserve fish and wildlife habitat for the benefit of federal trust resources. In the Great Lakes, PFW biologists from eight states coordinate with project partners, stakeholders, and other Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) programs to identify geographic focus areas and develop habitat conservation priorities within these focus areas.

BLM-AZ Bald Eagles Conservation - 0 views

    This funding opportunity is an ongoing effort to ensure bald eagles are managed so that they remain a success story. Existing management actions provide important population and nest success that allows for adaptive management of local closures to reduce impacts to recreation users on public lands while meeting the objects for bald eagles. Strong science is continuously being evaluated and re-evaluated for best practices to inform management of bald eagles. This has led to the southwest population of bald eagles being removed from the list of threatened and endangered species list. Breeding bald eagles are sensitive to human disturbance. The Bald Eagle Nest Watch Program has been successful in increasing nest success by reducing conflicts with bald eagles. This project is vital to ensure the bald eagle population in Arizona continues to thrive and avoid once again being federally listed as endangered species.

BLM CA Western Snowy Plover Monitoring - 0 views

    The South Spit is home to three federally endangered species. The Humboldt Bay wallflower and beach layia are listed as endangered while the western snowy plover is listed as threatened. The Endangered Species Act obligates federal agencies to monitor species and implement actions to help the species recover. Monitoring is a critical component of habitat work as there is no other if the habitat work is successful. This project will monitor western snowy plover use at South Spit and other BLM managed beach areas. Monitoring will occur approximately twice per week during the breeding season, March 1- September 5, and once per month during the non-breeding season. Survey effort may be adjusted based on the amount of nesting activity.

    U.S. Geological Surveyâ¿¿s (USGS) Great Lakes Science Center is offering a funding opportunity for research on â¿¿Analysis of Piscivore Diets in Lake Huron. This research will provide insight about the forage fishes used by top predator in Lake Huron. These types of contemporary information are necessary given the continued decline of most forage species over the past few years, and the need to understand how these fish are using the limited prey base in Lake Huron. Information gleaned from these studies will be used to guide sportfish management in the study areas and across the Great Lakes.
