The purpose of this FOA is to solicit R03 applications for up to two years for secondary analysis of data on aging in the areas of psychology, social epidemiology, economics, sociology, and demography.

The goal of the Pension Counseling & Information Program is to help individuals understand and exercise their pension rights. AoA funds a national Pension Assistance Resource Center to provide support to the pension counseling projects, State and Area Agencies on Aging, Aging and Disability Resource Centers, legal services providers, and others by providing substantive legal training, technical assistance, and programmatic consultation. Successful applicants will demonstrate a proven record of advising and representing individuals who have been denied employer or union-sponsored pensions or other retirement savings plan benefits; will be well-established, known presences in their respective professional communities; and will have the capacity to provide services under the Pension Counseling & Information Program on a national basis.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' (ODJFS) announces the release of Request for Proposals (RFP) number JFSR1617158114 for the purpose of competitively selecting one state-funded Ohio college or university to conduct a formal evaluation study of the Wage Pathway grant project (Project) administered by the ODJFS Office of Workforce Development (OWD) under a Workforce Innovation Fund grant awarded by the United States Department of Labor (DOL). The Project will pilot the Wage Pathway Model, which is a skills-focused approach to place low-income, low-skill youth and young adults aged 16-24 in occupations that will lead to in-demand jobs. The selected vendor will design, plan, and implement methodologies, tools, and processes to evaluate the results of the Wage Pathway Model on the employment outcomes of Project participants. This opportunity is only available to state-funded Ohio colleges and universities. Consideration will be given to those with proposals that effectively demonstrate the capacity, experience, and expertise to effectively and accurately complete the deliverables and other activities described herein in a timely manner.

This Russell Sage Foundation initiative will support innovative social science research on the social, economic and political effects of the Affordable Care Act. We are especially interested in funding analyses that address important questions about the effects of the reform on outcomes such as financial security and family economic well-being, labor supply and demand, participation in other public programs, family and children's outcomes, and differential effects by age, race, ethnicity, nativity, or disability status. We are also interested in research that examines the political effects of the implementation of the new law, including changes in views about government, support for future government policy changes, or the impact on policy development outside of health care.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) invites investigators at U.S. organizations to submit proposals to conduct research about the Arctic. Arctic research includes field and modeling studies, data analysis, and synthesis about the arctic region.The goal of the NSF Section for Arctic Sciences, Division of Polar Programs (PLR),??is to gain a better understanding of the Arctic's physical, biological, geological, chemical, social and cultural processes; the interactions of oceanic, terrestrial, atmospheric, biological, social, cultural, and economic systems; and the connections that define the Arctic. The Arctic Sciences and other NSF programs support projects that contribute to the development of the next generation of researchers and scientific literacy for all ages through education, outreach, and broadening participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Program representatives from polar and other non-polar NSF programs that support arctic research coordinate across NSF, including joint review and funding of arctic proposals and mutual support of special projects with high logistical costs.

The purpose of the Assistive Technology (AT) Alternative Financing Program (AFP) is to support programs that provide for the purchase of AT devices, such as a low-interest loan fund, an interest buy-down program, a revolving loan fund, a loan guarantee, or an insurance program. The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016 (the Act) requires applicants for these grants to provide an assurance that, and information describing the manner in which, the AFP will expand and emphasize consumer choice and control. The Act provides that applicants should incorporate credit-building activities in their programs, including financial education and information about other possible funding sources. Successful applicants must emphasize consumer choice and control and build programs that will provide financing for the full array of AT devices and services and ensure that all people with disabilities, regardless of type of disability or health condition, age, level of income, and residence, have access to the program.

The purpose of the program is to identify and support U.S.- and Japan-based professionals who demonstrate an interest in and potential for becoming Japan specialists and policy intellectuals. The resulting network includes Japan specialists from all regions of the United States and Japan with diverse expertise and perspectives. Participants should be able to constructively participate in the bilateral policymaking process and contribute to better understanding of U.S.-Japan relations. The program seeks to nurture a new generation of scholars and professionals working in the following policy areas: U.S.-Japan security relations; U.S.-Japan economic relations; regional cooperation; issues where the two countries confront common domestic challenges (such as aging societies and income inequality); and issues where the two countries have opportunities to work together to resolve global challenges (such as climate change and food security).

Programs supported through the initiative should be actively growing new speakers and have assessment and evaluation plans in place to identify progression in student Native language acquisition. Priority will be given to programs with long-term, community-based plans. Funding will support capacity-building activities designed to improve and enhance the program's ability to achieve its mission, which may include curriculum development, technology access, instructional courses and materials, mentorships, teacher training, and other kinds of organizational infrastructure To be eligible, programs must have an existing language-immersion program (one-year minimum), provide at least twenty hours per week for an entire school year of Native American language instruction, and serve a minimum of ten students between the ages of 3 and 22. The Office of English Language Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA/A/L) announces an open competition to administer the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access), which provides a foundation of English language skills to bright, economically disadvantaged students in their home countries. Access programs introduce students, primarily aged 13 to 20, to U.S. culture and democratic values, improve the students' potential to fully contribute to the socio-economic development of their countries, and increase their ability to compete for and participate in U.S. exchange and study programs.

Family caregivers shoulder many emotional and economic burdens in the course of delivering care to loved ones. Their role however is essential. According to a 2018 report from bipartisan policy center the majority of long-term care services and supports comes from family caregivers with estimates reporting that family caregivers have provided $470 billion in care. Additionally, the same report cites a statistic that family caregivers aged 50 and over lose approximately $304,000 in income and benefits over the duration of their care. Consequently family caregivers are especially vulnerable to experiencing the devastating economic burdens of the provision of care. As such, the development and dissemination of training and information to improve and strengthen the financial literacy of family caregivers is paramount in efforts to help them maintain their caregiving duties while concurrently helping them better understand and prepare for the potential financial impacts associated with the provision of care. The target population to be served will be all eligible family caregivers as defined in Title III E of the Older Americans Act. The objectives for this new funding opportunity include:* Advance understanding of the need for and the available interventions to improve financial literacy among family caregivers, incluidng gaps found in existing interventions, and develop a stragety for addressing these needs

The Resident Opportunity & Self Sufficiency (ROSS) Service Coordinator (SC) program funds eligible applicants to hire Service Coordinators to coordinate use of assistance under the Public Housing program with public and private resources, for supportive services and resident empowerment activities. Service Coordinators assess the needs of public and Indian housing residents and link them to supportive services that enable participants to increase earned income, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency. In the case of elderly/disabled residents, the Service Coordinator links participants to supportive services which enable them to age/remain in-place thereby avoiding costlier forms of care. Funds awarded to applicants may be used for (1)service coordinator functions, (2) training and travel related to professional and/or program development, (3) and administration cost.

Social science research on many topics has often been hampered by the limitations of survey data. However, the digital age has rapidly increased access to large and comprehensive data sources such as public and private administrative databases, and unique new sources of information from online transactions, social-media interactions, and internet searches. New computational tools also allow for the extraction, coding, and analysis of large volumes of text. Advances in analytical methods for exploiting and analyzing data have accompanied the rise of these data. The emergence of these new data also raises questions about access, privacy and confidentiality. The Russell Sage Foundation's initiative on Computational Social Science (CSS) supports innovative social science research that brings new data and methods to bear on questions of interest in its core programs in Behavioral Economics, Future of Work, Race, Ethnicity and Immigration, and Social Inequality. Limited consideration will be given to questions that pertain to core methodologies, such as causal inference and innovations in data collection.

This Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) is intended to promote behavioral and social research on the dementia care workforce and the impact on outcomes for persons living with Alzheimer's disease or Alzheimer's disease-related dementia (AD/ADRD) and their families. Broad areas of interest include (1) how economic and policy factors drive the composition and quality of the dementia care workforce; (2) demographic and familial factors that influence demand for and supply of dementia care workers; (3) training and certification effects on quality and retention of dementia care workers; and (4) the development of data resources required to study these issues.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications proposing to apply behavioral economics principles to build interventions into electronic health records (EHRs) for the purpose of improving physician compliance with recommended treatment guidelines, thereby improving quality of care, health outcomes and reducing health disparities.  This FOA will support pilot research to test the feasibility of implementing and integrating EHR-based behavioral economics interventions (R21 phase) that, if successful, can transition to an R33 phase for implementation of large pragmatic trials.

Center will define the needs and develop strategies that can help seniors, especially women, and their families identify and prevent fraud or elder financial exploitation and enhance the potential for maintaining independence. In partnership with AoA, the Center will design and execute objectives to support the incorporation of the concepts of basic financial and retirement planning into the fabric of Older Americans Act Programs. Center activities will incorporate the latest technology to generate and disseminate knowledge in appropriately packaged forms that can assist women, especially low-income women, women of color, and women with limited English-speaking proficiency to build their capacity to plan for, and to exercise, the most prudent options for their economic security in later life. The Center will serve as a national clearinghouse of tools and information on retirement planning and related financial materials, such as consumer protection and fraud prevention. It will tailor its activities and work products to meet the special needs of disadvantaged women and their families, including limited English-speaking individuals. The award will be made in the form of a cooperative agreement because AoA will be substantially involved in the development and execution of the activities conducted by the Center.

The Center for Retirement Research sponsors the annual Steven H. Sandell Grant Program for scholars in the field of retirement research and policy. The program is funded by the U.S. Social Security Administration to provide opportunities for scholars from all academic disciplines and senior scholars working in a new area to pursue cutting-edge projects on retirement income issues.
