The Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA), enacted July 29, 2010, requires the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) to establish and implement a tribal data collection system (P.L. 111- 211, 124 Stat. 2258, § 251(b)). Coverage of Indian country crime and criminal justice statistics is an important priority for BJS and the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). BJS maintains more than 40 different data series, some of which provide information on crime and the criminal justice response in Indian country. BJS intends to expand its portfolio on Indian country to provide more useful and current information on crime and criminal justice response in tribal justice systems. Approximately every 4 years, BJS conducts the Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (CSLLEA). CSLLEA provides data on over 18,000 state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies operating in the United States. CSLLEA captures data on each agency's number of sworn and civilian personnel and the law enforcement functions each agency performs. The 2008 CSLLEA collected data from 178 tribal law enforcement agencies operating in Indian country and provided a profile of tribal law enforcement by type of agency, the number of full-time sworn employees, population and reservation sizes, operating costs per resident, and functions performed on a regular basis. The information was published in Tribal Law Enforcement, 2008 (NCJ 234217, BJS web, June 2011). The 2014 CSLLEA, which is currently in the field, will collect similar information in addition to data on race and Hispanic origin of full-time sworn personnel, employment and transitional services provided to military veterans, special recruitment efforts, the number of hires and separations by type, the number of civilian deaths by cause of death, types of technology used by the agency, and characteristics of the agency's dispatch center. These data will be collected from all of the more than 18,000 state, local, and tribal agencies nationwide; however

The purpose of this project is the accreditation of management practices and delivery of law enforcement services of Mexican law enforcement agencies, emergency communications centers and police academies (here in after referred as Mexican agencies) according to standards that meet international standards. Participating Mexican law enforcement agencies are evaluated with regard to major law enforcement areas such as: 1) Roles, responsibilities and relationships with other agencies; 2) Organization, management and administration; 3) Personnel Administration; 4) Law Enforcement operations, operation support and traffic law enforcement; 5) Detainee and court-related services; and 6) Auxiliary and technical services. The accreditation process provides a structured mechanism for Mexican law enforcement agencies to improve their management practices and the delivery of law enforcement services to their communities. Subject to the availability of funds and pending Department of State management approvals, INL intends to issue an award in an amount not to exceed $7,000,000 in total funding. The U.S. Dollar amount will be funded from INL allocated funds, for an initial project period of five (5) years. INL reserves the right to fund any number of applications or none of the applications submitted and will determine the resulting level of funding for each award(s).

The 2020 CPD program will fund projects that develop knowledge, increase awareness of effective community policing strategies, increase the skills and abilities of law enforcement and community partners, increase the number of law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders using proven community policing practices and institutionalize community policing practice in routine business. The COPS Office, a federal provider of innovative, customer-focused resources that address the continuing and emerging needs of those engaged in enhancing public safety through community policing, has designed the CPD solicitation to address critical topics in the law enforcement field by building on the principles of community policing. CT seeks proposals to strengthen the Bangladeshi capacity to successfully implement the Antiterrorism Act of 2009, amended in 2013, and adequately address the threat of terrorism and terrorist financing in a rule of law framework. This project will complement CT-funded assistance focused on Bangladeshi prosecutors, investigators, and regulators that is being provided through the Department of Justice's Office of Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training (OPDAT). Project proposals should focus on building the capacity of judges, magistrates, law clerks, and other judicial personnel, to successfully adjudicate terrorism cases in accordance with the rule of law and should address all of the following areas: 1. Develop a unified judicial practice focused on terrorism, terrorism financing, and money laundering cases that adheres to the rule of law; 2. Strengthen their capacity to implement Bangladesh's Antiterrorism Act of 2009 laws through the effective adjudication of terrorism, money laundering, and terrorism financing cases; 3. Develop administrative capacity for courts to streamline case management for terrorism cases and address significant backlogs.

The National Violence Against Women Law Enforcement Training and Technical Assistance Consortium (NLETC) to support the training and technical assistance (TTA) needs of state, tribal, territorial, and local law enforcement agencies, sworn officers, and civilian staff that will enhance and strengthen law enforcement responses to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The NLETC will also provide targeted TTA to tribal law enforcement on sex trafficking. The NLETC reflects OVW's commitment to ensuring that law enforcement responses to and investigations of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking are victim-centered, can aid in successful prosecution, and empower victims to heal and achieve safety and justice.

Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act (LEMHWA) funds are used to improve the delivery of and access to mental health and wellness services for law enforcement through training and technical assistance, demonstration projects, and implementation of promising practices related to peer mentoring mental health and wellness programs. The 2020 LEMHWA program will fund projects that develop knowledge, increase awareness of effective mental health and wellness strategies, increase the skills and abilities of law enforcement, and increase the number of law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders using peer mentoring programs. The COPS Office, a federal provider of innovative, customer-focused resources that address the continuing and emerging needs of those engaged in enhancing public safety through community policing, has designed the LEMHWA solicitation to address law enforcement mental health and wellness. The 2020 LEMHWA program has been established to fund specific projects related to the following topic areas: (1) Peer Support Implementation Projects; (2) National Peer Support Program for Small and Rural Agencies; (3) LEMHWA Coordinator Assistance Provider, and (4) Invitational Applications. The Supporting Small and Rural Law Enforcement Agency Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program (SRA-BWC) directly supports key priorities of the Department of Justice by promoting the safety of law enforcement officers and citizens by strengthening the means for evidence capture and by contributing to improved justice outcomes. Both formal research publications and testimonials by law enforcement executives have shown that BWCs, when properly implemented, contribute myriad benefits to law enforcement organizations, their personnel, and the communities they serve. BWC use can have a moderating effect on citizens' behavior; has been shown to reduce use-of-force incidents and citizen complaints; and can help strengthen mutual respect and civility in citizen police interactions. Digital footage from BWCs can provide critical visual and audio records of interactions. The benefits of BWCs can be optimized when properly implemented as part of a deliberate program of carefully thought-out policies and practices in coordination with broader agency missions, including officer safety, accountability, increased disparity, training, and efficiency.

The fiscal year (FY) 2019 Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program (BWC PIP) directly supports key priorities of the Department of Justice by promoting the safety of law enforcement officers and citizens and capturing an unbiased recording of police interactions with the public. BWCs can provide critical visual and audio records of interactions. When properly deployed, research has shown that a BWC program can reduce civilian complaints, reduce use of force, and improve justice outcomes. Through this solicitation, BJA intends to select one training and technical assistance provider for BWC PIP to support law enforcement agencies that are planning, expanding, and enhancing their BWC programs. The selected TTA provider will prioritize support to law enforcement agencies that have received funding through BJA’s Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program to Support Law Enforcement Agencies. When funding is available, the awardee must also provide TTA to nongrantees that request assistance within the scope of the BWC program.

Tribal Resources Grant Program - Technical Assistance (TRGP-TA) program funds are used to provide funding to support tribal law enforcement agencies through training and technical assistance efforts around community policing topics. The COPS Office, a federal provider of innovative, customer-focused resources that address the continuing and emerging needs of those engaged in enhancing public safety through community policing, has designed the TRGP-TA solicitation to address tribal law enforcement training and technical assistance efforts. The 2020 TRGP-TA program has been established to fund specific projects related to the following topic areas: (1) Cold Cases and Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons; and (2) Developing an Alaskan Law Enforcement Recruitment Strategy. Detailed descriptions of each of these topics are available in the application guide. There is up to $800,000 in TRGP-TA funds available. All awards are subject to the availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements that may be imposed by law. Funding is limited, and it is expected that this solicitation will be very competitive. Each award or cooperative agreement is two years (24 months) in length. There is no local match. Each award will be in the form of a cooperative agreement, the funding instrument used for substantial federal involvement.

The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) leads the Department of State's efforts to strengthen citizen security and combat drug trafficking and transnational crime. INL assistance programs help partner nations to build their capacities to extend the reach of justice under the rule of law, including respect for human rights and gender equality, and to deny safe haven to criminals who would otherwise operate with near impunity. The resources entrusted to us enable INL to deliver technical assistance and capacity to: enhance international drug control through interdiction and supply reduction; develop civilian law enforcement capacity, regional partnerships, and information sharing; and further the administration of justice and corrections under the rule of law with respect for human rights. This mission supports peace and security by stabilizing and strengthening security institutions and by combating narcotic-trafficking and other transnational crimes such as money laundering, criminal gangs, and wildlife trafficking. It promotes governing transparently and democratically by strengthening justice sector institutions, good governance, and respect for human rights and gender equality.

Since 1983, the AccessLex Institute has evolved to meet the ever-changing challenges and needs of the law students and institutions it serves by conducting and commissioning research that illuminates the latest data and evidence on the critical issues in legal education today. To that end, the institute is currently accepting applications for its Diversity Pipeline Research Grant Program from organizations working to enhance access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds. With the ultimate goal of increasing knowledge that buttresses methods for increasing the enrollment and success of law students, the program supports current or proposed programs and initiatives aimed at helping college students and/or graduates from historically underrepresented racial and socioeconomic groups successfully matriculate into law school and the legal profession.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications for the FY 2018 National Initiatives: Preventing Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers and Ensuring Officer Resilience and Survivability (VALOR) Initiative. This national initiative furthers the Department mission by improving the criminal justice system; enhancing law enforcement safety, wellness, resilience, and survivability; and providing support to efforts including training and technical assistance programs strategically targeted to address law enforcement safety and wellness needs.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai (PAS Chennai) seeks proposals for a project entitled "This House Believes That: A U.S.-India Comparative Constitutional Law Debate Project." Under this project, the grantee will organize and implement a multi-tiered program which will include a workshop, mentorship and debate competition in English that offers youth (especially law students) from South India (age 19-30 years) an opportunity to objectively and dispassionately deliberate important contemporary issues through the lens of U.S. and Indian comparative constitutional law. The program will compare, contrast, and provide insight into the salient features of the foundational documents of the world's two greatest democracies. In the process, the project will interrogate the rationale and impact of democratic tenets such as freedom of speech and freedom of the press in an open, non-judgmental environment. This FY 2013 competitive grant announcement focuses on provision of training and technical assistance (TTA) to state and local law enforcement and crime prevention efforts targeting emerging crime. Successful applicants will develop and deliver TTA in three categories to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system. The categories are: Educating the 21st Century Law Enforcement Officer; Increasing Analytical Capacity: Training for the Law Enforcement Executive; and Delivery of Evidenced-Based Violence Reduction Strategies.
