Research Scholarship The American Academy of Underwater Sciences awards two research scholarships to graduate students engaged in, or planning to begin, a research project in which diving is or will be used as a principal research tool or study scientific diving. The Kevin Gurr Scholarship awards $3,000 to a Master program student, and the Kathy Johnston Scholarship awards $3,000 to a Ph.D. candidate. The AAUS may also award two additional $1500 scholarships to the next two proposals that are ranked the highest. If the additional scholarships are awarded, they may be split between the Master program and the Ph.D. program, or they may be both awarded within a single program. Kevin Flanagan Student  Travel Award The Kevin Flanagan Student Travel Award provides up to $800 to undergraduate and/or graduate students interested in diving science to attend AAUS scientific meetings. The award is competitive merit-based. As many as three students may be funded annually. The Kevin Flanagan award was established in collaboration with Kevin's family as a legacy to his commitment to AAUS and scientific diving. Kevin served as AAUS board member (2009-2011) and diving safety officer at the University of Hawaii and East Carolina University prior to his death in May 2012. Our goal is to develop this as the first endowed award of the AAUS Foundation, permanently funded through interest earned on the raised capital.

All applicants must currently be pursuing a Bachelor's (or Baccalaureate) Degree related to a profession that is dedicated to improving the beautification of US communities, such as  Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Horticulture, and Environmental and Marine Sciences. Applicants must be currently accepted into a program and must currently hold or anticipate holding a high school diploma or GED within the 2015-2016 school year.  Applicants must be currently involved or recently involved (within one year of date of application) in their community, either through school programs or voluntary programs.

The AWF provides awards and grants on an annual basis in support of individuals and organizations contributing to the protection of whales and dolphins across the Atlantic Oceans. Projects supported can be educational, research, conservation and even activities such as whale-watching in so far as its goals fall within one or more of the other three parameters.

The goal of the Kushlan Research Award in Ciconiiform Biology and Conservation is to encourage significant scientific advances in the biology, ecology, or conservation biology of wading birds (i.e. herons, storks, ibises, and their taxonomic allies). The grants committee currently solicits proposals that focus on: Species relationships within the group The status, range, and population sizes of little-known species of Ciconiiformes

The Charles H. Lowe Herpetology Research Fund was established by the Tucson Herpetological Society (THS) to support research that contributes to the conservation of the herpetofauna of the Sonoran Desert, including the states of Arizona, southern California, Sonora, and on the Baja California peninsula and gulf islands. The Charles H. Lowe Herpetology Research Fund provides much needed financial support to local researchers with the idea that the more we know about our environment, the better prepared we will be to preserve it. The fund covers the cost of travel, permits, diagnostic tests, and field equipment such as GPS units, Pesola scales, radio telemetry equipment, dip nets, snake hooks, and even software.

Since 1991 the Swedish Club300 has contributed more than USD600,000 to bird protection projects all around the world. Projects we have supported include conservation and research on many rare, threatened or little known species like Guerney's Pitta, Hawaiian Crow, Pale-headed Brush-finch, Puaiohi and Sumatran Ground Cuckoo. Since our funds are limited our focus is to contribute money to highly threatened or poorly known species. Only applications concerning projects aimed at birds listed as Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN), Extinct in the Wild (EW) or Data Deficient (DD) on the IUCN Red List of threatened species are eligible for funding. These categories comprise about 590 of the worlds most threatened or least known species. A list of these species can be generated on the Birdlife International Data zone. The maximum annual amount granted to a single project is USD 5,000.

The Society welcomes applications on a biannual basis (closing dates 1st June and 1st December) for the Student Grant Scheme. The Scheme offers small grants, normally not exceeding £300 (approximately US $450), to current students, and is principally aimed at supporting fieldwork and other research costs. Undergraduate and masters-level postgraduate students are the intended focus of the Scheme, but PhD students will be eligible if the research is completed within one year. The Scheme is intended to promote an academic interest in herpetology through short, well-defined research projects with clear aims and demonstrable applications to our understanding of herpetology, and/or to herpetofauna conservation. Projects which benefit species of conservation concern are likely to be favoured.

Since 1996, the Riverbanks Conservation Support Fund (CSF) has provided important assistance to conservation biologists involved in an array of wildlife conservation projects both here and abroad. Riverbanks supports this mission in many ways including conserving biodiversity through careful utilization of available resources. The Riverbanks Conservation Support Fund was created to provide financial assistance for conservation-oriented projects/programs that promote preservation of the Earth's biodiversity. Riverbanks encourages the submission of projects that have the potential for broad-based conservation and/or management impact.

Grant proposals are invited for general research projects, with preference given to training initiatives, start-up funds, supplementary funding for students, and innovations in animal care and research technology. Award amounts range from $500 to $1500, and will be for a period of one year. Research grants should be designed to test hypotheses about the proximate and ultimate processes that influence primate behavior, social organization, development, reproduction, welfare, physiology, anatomy and/or evolution.

Research proposals submitted to this fund should focus on one or more of the research areas listed below, but they must clearly identify how the proposal will contribute towards the main objective of the AWR program and how the proposal will increase existing capacities for management. The Stephen R. Tully Memorial Grant is given to support research, and conservation of raptors especially to students and amateurs with limited access to alternative funding.

The Orangutan Foundation invites grant applications for research into orangutan behaviour and ecology, or related rainforest field research in Indonesia.

U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center (NCCWSC) requests a three year cooperative agreement for a project titled: "Assessing the impact of future climate on Hawaii's aquatic ecosystems." NCCWSC synthesizes and integrates climate change impact data and develops tools that the Department of Interior's managers and partners can use when managing the Department's land, water, fish and wildlife, and cultural heritage resources.

From rangeland management to protection of cultural resources; fire suppression to energy development; trails and travel management to National Conservation Lands, the BLM values public involvement and a collaborative environment. When we facilitate activities and uses of the public lands, they are designed, permitted, and monitored with the goal of retaining or returning the land to a healthy condition once the use or activity ends. Our objective is to provide opportunities for youth (ages 16-30 years of age) to engage in BLM cultural and natural resource conservation-related projects and to increase public awareness and appreciation of those resources and recreational resource values found on public lands. These projects will provide participants with a mix of work experience, education, training, community involvement and support services, as well as the opportunity to develop citizenship values and skills through service to their community and the United States. As the young men and women gain experience in natural and cultural resource management, they will also develop an appreciation for public lands and learn about conservation-related career fields

The World Trout Initiative funds only groups and efforts working to restore and protect wild, self-sustainable trout, salmon and other fish species within their native range. This includes both indigenous freshwater and saltwater fish. We believe that the best way to accomplish this over the long term is by ensuring that populations have high-quality habitats and adequate stream flows, can migrate between habitats without human intervention, are not negatively impacted by hatchery and aquaculture operations, have protection from harmful non-native species and disease, and are not overharvested. We look for innovative groups that produce measurable results and work on long-term solutions to root causes of the problem. Proposed projects should be quantifiable, with specific goals, objectives and action plans, and should include measures for evaluating success.

The Sustainable Environments Program seeks to create just and sustainable communities in four ways: Sustainable Transportation Networks & Equitable Development Patterns We support clean, affordable, equitable, high-quality and efficient transportation and land use development that better connects critical services, jobs, schools, housing and other regional destinations. Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment No longer accepting grants. New guidelines are under construction to reflect the new direct of Surdna's work in the energy arena. Urban Water Management We support efforts to capture storm water and slowly release it into the existing network of drains, pipes and sewers, or reuse it where it falls to cultivate natural green spaces. Regional Food Supply We support ways to make it easier to get local, sustainably produced food from our farms to the markets closest to where it's grown, and to better connect food producers and consumers. We seek organizations that: -Promote meaningful collaborations and an integrated approach to infrastructure solutions (i.e., ways in which transportation, energy, water, and food systems can be combined); -Focus on infrastructure decisions that better meet the needs of historically underserved communities including low-income communities and people of color; -Promote long-term solutions and leverage strategic infrastructure investments; -Highlight, especially through communications, the multiple benefits of next generation infrastructure.

The Cornell Douglas Foundation is a private, non-operating foundation established in 2006. Its mission is to provide small grants to organizations which promote the vision of the foundation: advocating for environmental health and justice, encouraging stewardship of the environment, and furthering respect for sustainability of resources.

The Standard Grants Program is a competitive, matching grants program that supports public-private partnerships carrying out projects in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. These projects must involve long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated uplands habitats. In Mexico, projects may also include technical training, environmental education and outreach, organizational infrastructure development, and sustainable-use studies.

The Small Grants Program is a competitive, matching grants program that supports public-private partnerships carrying out projects in the United States that further the goals of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act. These projects must involve long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated uplands habitats for the benefit of all wetlands-associated migratory birds.

NFWF provides funding on a competitive basis to projects that sustain, restore, and enhance our nation's fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats.  Each of our initiatives has a business plan developed by scientists and other experts and approved by our Board of Directors. Grants are available to support the actions identified in the business plan. Additional programs support diverse projects for wildlife and habitat conservation across the country.
