The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has an opportunity to work with partner organizations to assist with fuels management and community fire assistance program activities to reduce the risk and impact of catastrophic wildfires to local communities through coordination, reducing the amount of hazardous fuels, and furthering the education of landowners about wildfire prevention and mitigation.

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is issuing, on behalf of the Vehicle Technologies Office, a Funding Opportunity Announcement entitled, Fiscal Year 2020 Advanced Vehicle Technologies Research Funding Opportunity Announcement. This announcement seeks research projects to address priorities in the following areas: advanced batteries and electrification in support of the recently-announced DOE Energy Storage Grand Challenge; advanced engine and fuel technologies, including technologies for off-road applications and alternative fueled engines; lightweight materials; new mobility technologies (energy efficient mobility systems); and alternative fuels technology demonstrations.

Ensure self sustaining populations and a natural abundance and diversity of wildlife on public lands for the enjoyment and use of present and future generations.

The BLM designs and implements lake, wetland, river, stream, and riparian treatments to restore and reconnect native and game aquatic species habitat on public lands. The BLM also works to enhance the quality and quantity of angling opportunities on BLM managed lands by conserving and restoring habitat and improving fish productivity. These activities include analyzing habitat and water resource data needed to maintain, protect, and restore aquatic habitat resources effectively, as well as applying expertise to assess and improve the public experience, productivity and resiliency of these resources on public lands.

2020 Preservation Technology and Training Grants - PTT Grants - are intended to create better tools, better materials, and better approaches to conserving buildings, landscapes, sites, and collections. The PTT Grants are administered by the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training - NCPTT, the National Park Service¿s innovation center for the preservation community. The competitive grants program will provide funding to federal agencies, states, tribes, local governments, and non-profit organizations. PTT Grants will support the following activities: - Innovative research that develops new technologies or adapts existing technologies to preserve cultural resources - typically 20,000 dollars. - Specialized workshops or symposia that identify and address national preservation needs - typically 15,000 to 20,000 dollars. - How-to videos, mobile applications, podcasts, best practices publications, or webinars that disseminate practical preservation methods or provide better tools for preservation practice - typically 5,000 to 15,000 dollars. The maximum grant award is 20,000 dollars. The actual grant award amount is dependent on the scope of the proposed activity. NCPTT does not fund brick and mortar grants.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (the Service), Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) requests interested organizations to submit applications for the construction management of Ferguson Bayou hydrologic reconnection project. The Service will provide a final set of signed/sealed construction plans and obtain all local, state, and federal permits prior to construction. The entity will provide construction management services for the installation of multiple water control structures and the excavation of the Maankiki-Ferguson connection ditch and Ferguson-Spaulding connection ditch per design plan specifications provided by the Service. Construction management services will include: -Development of a federal procurement compliant bid package and solicitation of bids from sub-contractors to complete the work. -Provide construction management, oversight, and on-site inspections of all aspects of construction to ensure all aspects of the project are built to design specifications. -Ensure all contractors wash and clean equipment prior to entering Refuge (as outlined in the design plans) to prevent invasive species spread. -Ensure all fuel stored on the Refuge by sub-contractors is compliant with the Service policy for fuel storage and containment. -Ensure any damage to existing Refuge infrastructure (roads, trails, signs, gates, observation platforms) are repaired to pre-construction condition (this may include but not limited to road grading and dike repair upon completion of the project). -Routinely communicate construction activities, timelines, and any issues that may cause delays with the Service program officer. -Provide final survey of project to the Service in an ArcGIS and AutoCAD compatible format.

The goals of this agreement are to engage approximately 20 youth in a park-based educational/recreational experience to learn and apply science, engineering, and best practices for protecting natural sounds and night skies in national parks, while fostering an awareness and appreciation of recreation opportunities in national parks. The objectives are to advance recreational access for non-traditional/underserved park visitors (e.g., youth who haven¿t visited parks due to socio-economics or perceived barriers based on physical, hearing, or visual impairments); use recreation to develop understanding and appreciation of national parks and public lands; impart knowledge to enhance park resources, values, and visitor experience; and leverage funding through cost-sharing. The outcomes will include: 1) increased recreational access, 2) application of best practices developed to benefit resource conditions and visitor experience, 3) improved natural soundscapes and night skies through noise and light reduction service activities, 4) increased relevancy of national parks.

One of the BLM's highest priorities is to promote ecosystem health and one of the greatest obstacles to achieving this goal is the rapid expansion of weeds across public lands. These invasive plants can dominate and often cause permanent damage to natural plant communities. If not eradicated or controlled, noxious weeds will continue to jeopardize the health of the public lands and to constrain the myriad activities that occur on public lands.

Increase and enhance hunting, fishing and recreational opportunities. Increase and enhance recreational shooting opportunities. Improve inventory, assessment and planning on public lands and waters. The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)'s Division of Preservation and Access is offering a cooperative agreement to evaluate current national infrastructure in conservation and make recommendations to strengthen preservation of cultural heritage for present and future generations. The recipient will: 1) plan and host a national convening to foster dialogue surrounding the current state, challenges, and future goals for the field of conservation and preservation, and 2) publish and disseminate a report establishing a national strategic vision for preservation and related resources for conservators, allied professionals, educators, professional organizations, thought leaders, and the general public. This program is aligned with "A More Perfect Union": NEH Special Initiative Advancing Civic Education and Commemorating the Nation's 250th Anniversary.

Projects include a variety of ecological improvements along with targeted community outreach, education and stewardship. Ecological improvements may include one or more of the following: wetland, riparian, forest and coastal habitat restoration; wildlife conservation, community tree canopy enhancement, water quality monitoring and green infrastructure best management practices for managing run-off. Projects should also increase access to the benefits of nature, reduce the impact of environmental hazards and engage local communities, particularly underserved communities, in project planning, outreach and implementation. 

The proposed research must be organized around a suite of compelling questions that deepen understanding of ecological processes and require uninterrupted, long-term collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data. LTER research should be developed around a conceptual framework that motivates questions requiring experiments and observations over long time frames. The conceptual framework should explicitly justify the long-term question(s) posited by the research and it should identify how data in LTER core areas and any experimental work contribute to an understanding of the question(s) while testing major ecological theories or concepts. The framework should provide the justification for all studies outlined in the proposal; ideally, it should be informed by analyses of existing long term data. Proposed research should have the goals of achieving a mechanistic understanding of biological responses to past and present environmental change at multiple scales and of using this understanding to predict ecological responses at population, community, and ecosystem levels and social responses to environmental change. Consideration of evolutionary processes is encouraged.

The purpose of this Request for Information is to seek input from fossil fueled power plant owners, operators, equipment manufacturers, architect engineers, and other interested stakeholders about energy storage opportunities and research needs that could lead to advances in energy storage technologies. Areas of interest include fossil fueled electricity generating units, fossil fueled poly generation facilities, and suitable fossil fueled industrial applications. Advances in storage technology capable of improving the overall performance, reliability, and flexibility of these plants will enable our Nation to continue to extract maximum economic value from its fossil fueled energy system assets. The purpose of the Environmental Education Local Grants Program in Region 5 is to support locally-focused environmental education projects that increase public awareness and knowledge about environmental and conservation issues and provide the skills that participants in its funded projects need to make informed decisions and take responsible actions toward the environment.

The goal of this funding opportunity is to build environmental literacy of K-12 students and the public so they are knowledgeable of the ways in which their community can become more resilient to extreme weather and/or other environmental hazards, and become involved in achieving that resilience. Projects should build the collective environmental literacy necessary for communities to become more resilient to the extreme weather and other environmental hazards they face in the short- and long-term. Building sufficient environmental literacy in a community means that these communities are composed of individuals who are supported by formal and informal education that develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence to: (1) reason about the ways that human and natural systems interact globally and where they live, including the acknowledgement of disproportionately distributed vulnerabilities; (2) participate in scientific and/or civic processes; and (3) consider scientific uncertainty, cultural knowledge, and diverse community values in decision making.

The purpose of this document is to advise the public that NOAA/NOS/National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS)/Competitive Research Program (CRP) is soliciting proposals for the Prevention, Control and Mitigation of Harmful Algal Blooms (PCMHAB) and HAB Socioeconomics Research Programs. Funding is contingent upon the availability of Fiscal Year 2020 Federal appropriations. It is anticipated that projects funded under this announcement will have a September 1, 2020 start date.

The Fish and Wildlife Management Assistance Program provides technical and financial assistance to other federal agencies, states, local governments, Native American tribes, non-governmental organizations, citizen groups, and landowners for the conservation and management of fish and wildlife resources. This includes minimizing the establishment, spread, and impact of aquatic invasive species. Specifically, aquatic habitat conservation projects under this program must protect, restore, and enhance fish and aquatic habitats, as outlined in the National Fish Habitat Action Plan (Action Plan). Likewise, projects under this program, directly or indirectly, support and promote public access to recreational fishing opportunities and the sustainable use of other natural resources. Funded projects may be carried out by Fish Habitat Partnerships (FHPs) recognized by the National Fish Habitat Board (Board) or the partners of Board recognized FHPs.
