Submit an application if you are a successful top-rank junior researcher from abroad, only completed your doctorate with distinction in the last six years, and have published work in prestigious international journals or publishing houses. The Sofja Kovalevskaja Award allows you to spend five years building up a working group and working on a high-profile, innovative research project of your own choice at a research institution of your own choice in Germany.

The United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in Mali, is seeking feedback for three planned activities: "Integrated Community Health, Nutrition and Governance" expected to cover Nutrition, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Malaria, Family Planning and Reproductive health interventions; "Health System Strengthening" to focus at strengthening systems at the national, regional, district and community levels; and "Quality Improvement" to focus on human resources for health and the quality of health services at all levels.

In recent years, inequality in the United States has become increasingly pervasive. At the same time, prospects for social mobility have decreased. The William T. Grant Foundation believes the research community can play a critical role in reversing this trend. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications in support of research projects designed to advance understanding in the area of inequalities in youth development and/or increase understanding of how research is acquired, understood, and used, as well as the circumstances that shape its use in decision making. Through its Research program, the foundation will award grants of up to $600,000 in support of research that focuses on ways to reduce disparities in academic, behavioral, social, and economic outcomes for youth. Priority will be given to projects related to inequality related to economic, racial/ethnic, and language background, but research that explores other areas will also be considered based on a compelling case for its impact. To be eligible, organizations must be considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to encourage the use of a phased research approach to generate information needed to develop interventions to reduce long-term effects of in utero exposure to antiretroviral therapy (ART) and/or HIV on health outcomes. This FOA will support two-phased research applications to (1) demonstrate the capacity to enroll sufficient numbers of HIV-exposed uninfected (HEU) infants, children, adolescents, and/or young adults in the United States and/or international settings with high HIV burden, and then, to (2) utilize the established cohort with innovative epidemiological approaches to conduct research.

Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation is accepting applications from behavioral or psychological research studies based in the United States or Canada. Through its Faculty/Post-Doctoral Fellows program, the fund will award grants of up to $20,000 in support of studies aimed at developing, refining, evaluating, or disseminating innovative interventions designed to prevent or ameliorate major social, psychological, behavioral, or public health problems affecting children, adults, couples, families, or communities. The fund will also consider studies that have the potential for adding significantly to knowledge about such problems. Projects must be focused on the United States or Canada or on a comparison between the U.S. or Canada and one (or more) other country. To be eligible, applicants must be a faculty member at an accredited college or university or an individual affiliated with an accredited human service organization that is tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In addition, the principal investigator must have an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline and relevant experience.

The Organization for Autism Research is inviting applications for its Graduate Research Grant program. Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and post-graduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) invites eligible entities to submit competitive grant applications for funding under the Refugee Family Child Care Microenterprise Development Project (RFCCMED). Through the RFCCMED program, ORR will provide funding for applicants which, through internal capacity and partnerships, will provide refugee participants with training and technical assistance in professional child care, microenterprise development, and financial literacy; assist refugee participants in navigating the child care licensing process; and provide direct financial assistance as needed to enable participants to prepare their homes for child care business operation. The three main objectives of RCCMED are to 1) help refugees to achieve economic self-sufficiency by establishing licensed FCC businesses; 2) help refugee families gain access to licensed FCC businesses which will meet the early care and developmental needs of refugee children; and 3) assist refugees in learning how to navigate mainstream child care services.

Society for Research in Child Development Patrice L. Engle Dissertation Grant for Global Early Child Development The Patrice L. Engle Dissertation Grant provides support for students interested in a career in global early child development who are from or doing research in low- or middle-income countries. The Grant includes US $5,000 to support dissertation research and a 2-year student membership to SRCD. Applicant Eligibility and Responsibility 1. Dissertation research in global early child development with a one-year Grant for $5,000. The developmental focus of the research should include children, prenatal to 6 years of age living in low- or middle- income countries, as defined by the World Bank.  Potential topics could include (but not limited to): The effectiveness of different models of parenting support on early child development. Examination of how child care programs promote child development and family involvement. The effectiveness of 2-generation programs that provide maternal and child support. Innovative strategies to integrate programs that promote early child development with health or nutritional services for young children. Innovative strategies to integrate child development interventions with social protection services or programs to promote maternal mental health or education. Innovative strategies to involve fathers and other extended family members in early child development programs. Development of measurement strategies, indicators, and assessment tools for children and family interactions that can be implemented with reliability in low resource settings. Strategies for effective scale-up of demonstration programs.

The Raechel & Jackie Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to inspire and enrich the lives of youth in Central America through recreation, the arts, and innovative educational experiences, is accepting grant applications for its 2013 funding cycle. Grant applications are invited from charitable organizations working to provide children in Central America with innovative educational experiences that align with the RJF mission. The foundation seeks to partner with community-based organizations and community-driven projects in Central America that provide resources to educate and provide opportunities that enable youth to address environmental concerns, foster personal growth, and encourage positive lasting change in their communities. Applicant organizations should provide services that meet the needs of children; provide holistic support for children's development that nurtures their voice, leadership capabilities, and active participation in decisions that affect their lives; have a history of effective actions spanning at least three years; demonstrate consistency in their mission, goals, and strategy; propose feasible and innovative projects that closely align with RJF's mission; and demonstrate community interest in implementing the project/program.

As part of broader university-wide diversity and inclusion efforts, the Office of the President and the Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship (OARS) have issued a special call for proposals to conduct research, scholarship, or creative activities in the areas of social justice, human rights, diversity, and inclusion. Proposals may be submitted in any of these areas, but must address a scholarly question that will lead to testable objectives or measurable outcomes.

This funding will support United States government objectives under the U.S. Strategy for Central America (Strategy), and are accomplished through the promotion of prosperity, enhancement of security, and improvement of governance. These objectives are also included under the Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI), which is a component of the Strategy. Within Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama), the United States works with partner nations to strengthen institutions to counter the effects of organized crime, uphold the rule of law, and protect human rights. Institution building is coupled with both prevention projects that dissuade at-risk youth from turning to crime and gangs and community policing projects that engage local communities on citizen security issues.

One of the oldest American foundations, the Russell Sage Foundation was established by Mrs. Margaret Olivia Sage in 1907 for "the improvement of social and living conditions in the United States." In pursuit of this mission, the foundation now dedicates itself to strengthening the methods, data, knowledge, and theoretical core of the social sciences as a means of diagnosing social problems and improving social policies. The foundation's program on Social Inequality supports research on the social, economic, political, and labor market consequences of rising economic inequalities in the United States. The program seeks Letters of Inquiry for investigator-initiated research projects that will broaden current understanding of the causes and consequences of rising economic inequalities. Priority will be given to projects that use innovative data or methodologies to address important questions about inequality. Examples of the kinds of topics that are of interest include, but are not limited to, economic well-being, equality of opportunity, and intergenerational mobility; the political process and the resulting policies; psychological and/or cultural change; education; labor markets; child development and child outcomes; neighborhoods and communities; families, family structure, and family formation; and other forms of inequality.

In 2009, the Children Support Center (CSC) was founded in Kabul, the first center of its kind created to identify and protect Afghan children living in prison with their incarcerated mothers. Since 2011, INL has supported CSCs in Afghanistan and protected over 1300 children of incarcerated women across the country. The CSCs provide comprehensive alternative care that includes safe and secure housing, access to education and tutoring, psychosocial counseling, vocational training, medical services, recreation, exposure to cultural activities, and quarterly prison visits to see their mothers. To continue supporting this integral program, the U.S. Department of State has allocated $950,000 over a three year period for a CSC to protect children of incarcerated Afghan women living in Herat and surrounding provinces.

The purpose of the Equitable Access to Education in Southern Senegal Cooperative Agreement (CA) is to ensure the maximum number or children (aged approximately 9-16) in the Casamance (Ziguinchor, Sedhiou, and Kolda) and Kedougou regions of Senegal have equitable access to relevant basic education opportunities that develop essential life skills

This program supports initiatives with the primary goal of promoting interethnic and intercommunity exchange, collaboration, and joint projects. We are seeking projects and initiatives that clearly develop increased tolerance and cooperation between the ethnically and geographically diverse communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Proposals should engage youth (ages 11-25) who have had no prior access to similar initiatives. The Embassy welcomes all innovative proposals aimed at promoting interethnic engagement, reconciliation, and cooperation. Priority areas: Projects that reach out and promote cooperation between youth from different ethnic communities

Tubiteho means "Let's take care of them" in Kirundi, the national language of Burundi, and will be a "flagship" Activity in the USAID/Burundi Health Portfolio for Family Planning and Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (RMNCH), as well as for malaria control at the household and health facility level, and for national and central level support of strengthening malaria case management activities.

Through this announcement, the Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from public or private non-profit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations, or for-profit agencies within a community that wish to compete for funds that are available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start services to children and families residing in the Municipalities of Anasco, Las Marias, Maricao, and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Funds in the amount of $7,854,600 annually will be available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start program services to eligible children and their families. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) invites applications from U.S. institutions to support Research Units (RUs) within the Global Network for Womens and Childrens Health Research at NICHD. RUs will consist of U.S.-based research centers applying in partnership with research centers in low income countries as defined by the World Bank. The RUs within the Global Network will participate in addressing the major causes of maternal, neonatal, infant, and early childhood morbidity and mortality through the conduct of clinical research. The grantees will become part of a cooperative network in scientific partnership with the NIH to conduct multi-enter observational studies and randomized clinical trials evaluating disease process, health and wellness outcomes, and results from interventions in resource-poor settings.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Leadership through Sports for Jammu and Kashmir." The project, a week-long workshop for local community leaders in the sports field from Jammu and Kashmir, will share best practices on how to build sports and leadership programs in underserved communities. The grantee will identify five American sports mentors/coaches (three female and two male) and bring them to New Delhi to implement the week-long program for 20 local coaches, school administrators, sports association leaders and sports administrators, at least half of whom are female. The American sports mentors/coaches should have experience working with disadvantaged/underserved populations on sports programs, and will focus on building capacity in sports and leadership program development. Upon completion of the week-long workshop, the grantee will organize and oversee a six-month virtual mentoring program between the American sports mentors/coaches and the participants. The Office of English Language Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA/A/L) announces an open competition to administer the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access), which provides a foundation of English language skills to bright, economically disadvantaged students in their home countries. Access programs introduce students, primarily aged 13 to 20, to U.S. culture and democratic values, improve the students' potential to fully contribute to the socio-economic development of their countries, and increase their ability to compete for and participate in U.S. exchange and study programs.
