The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Investigator-Initiated Small Research Grant (R03) funding opportunity supports small research projects that can be carried out in a short period of time with limited resources. The R03 activity code supports different types of projects including pilot and feasibility studies; secondary analysis of existing data; small, self-contained research projects; development of research methodology; and development of new research technology.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Exploratory/Developmental Grant (R21) funding opportunity supports the development of new research activities in categorical program areas. The R21 activity code is intended to encourage exploratory and developmental research projects by providing support for the early and conceptual stages of these projects. These studies may involve considerable risk but may lead to a breakthrough in a particular area, or to the development of novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications that could have a major impact on a field of biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research.

The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports promising early-career researchers from diverse disciplines, who have demonstrated success in conducting high-quality research that has compelling relevance for theory, and policies or practices, affecting youth ages 5 to 25 in the United States or a vulnerable subpopulation of those youth, and are seeking to further develop and broaden their expertise. Candidates are nominated by a supporting institution and must submit five-year research plans that demonstrate creativity, intellectual rigor, and a commitment to continued professional development. Every year, four to six William T. Grant Scholars are selected and each receives $350,000 distributed over a five-year period.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) invites applications for institutional research capacity building programs from entities/institutions in Institutional Development Award (IDeA)-eligible States that propose to support a team of experts to engage and implement pediatric clinical trials. The program aims to provide research infrastructure as well as supervised professional development in research and clinical trial implementation to assist institutions in IDeA-eligible States in establishing and maintaining pediatric clinical trial teams.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2019 National Center of Excellence for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (Short Title: CoE-IECMHC) grant. The purpose of this program is to advance the implementation of high quality infant and early childhood mental health consultation (IECMHC) across the nation through the development of tools, resources, training, and mentorship to the infant and early childhood mental health field. The primary goals of the CoE are to promote the healthy social and emotional development of infants and young children, and to prevent, to the greatest extent possible, the onset of serious emotional disturbance (SED). The CoE has been and will continue to be instrumental in helping states, tribes, and communities to support early childhood providers and help them to achieve their goals of healthy children and families, school readiness, and success in school and beyond.

The NIEHS is establishing an infrastructure, the Human Health Exposure Analysis Resource (HHEAR) as a continuation of the Children's Health Exposure Analysis Resource (CHEAR). The goal of this consortium is to provide the research community access to laboratory and statistical analyses to add or expand the inclusion of environmental exposures in their research and to make that data publicly available as a means to improve our knowledge of the comprehensive effects of environmental exposures on human health throughout the life course. This FOA solicits Laboratories (Lab Hubs) providing a comprehensive suite of analysis of environmental exposures in samples such as dust, soil, and drinking water related to the immediate environment of individuals and linked to health endpoints. Each Hub will incorporate a developmental core to develop novel measures for environmental samples, expanding the number of current, commonly measured analytes, and developing new methods for detecting analytes in other environmental samples and providing additional insight into the sources of exposures that influence human health. The Environmental Monitoring Lab will also serve as a 'clearinghouse for evaluation and provision of emerging tools and technologies for personal exposure assessment to the client community.

The Department of Education is issuing a notice inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2018 for Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities-Associate Degree Preservice Program Improvement Grants to Support Personnel Working with Young Children with Disabilities

NIDA and the following NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs), NIAAA, NICHD, NIMH, NIMHD, NINDS, OBSSR, and NCI intend to publish a Collaborative Research on Addiction at NIH (CRAN) funding opportunity announcement to solicit applications for research project sites in service of a nationwide, multisite, multi-modal, longitudinal cohort study to prospectively examine brain and behavioral development from late childhood (approximately age 9-10) through adolescence into early adulthood. Current primary awardees will be eligible to apply and this new award period will be extended to 7 years in duration.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits an application for a single central Data Analysis, Informatics, and Resource Center (DAIRC). This is one part of a consortium to be renewed in service of a nationwide, multisite, multi-modal, longitudinal cohort study to prospectively examine brain and behavioral development from late childhood (approximately age 9-10) through adolescence into early adulthood. Current primary awardees will be eligible to apply and this new award period will be 7 years in duration.  The structure of the consortium shall consist of three highly integrated components: (1) a set of linked Research Project Sites, (2) a single central Data Analysis, Informatics, and Resource Center, and (3) a single overall Coordinating Center.  

This program will fund project sites to develop a community-based, multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach to responding to youth with sexual behavior problems, their child victims, and their families as well as a training and technical assistance provider to support project sites in developing intervention models. The purpose of this program is to prevent sexual reoffending, promote healing, and provide services for victims and families. The program will focus on interfamilial and/or coresidential child victims and youth with problematic sexual behaviors. Examples of these types of sexual behaviors include, but are not limited to, sexual contact between children who do not know each other well (i.e., foster home or institutional setting); sexual contact between children of different ages, sizes, and developmental levels; aggressive or coerced sexual contact; sexual contact that causes harm to the child or others; and sexual contact that causes another child to be highly upset and/or fearful. Applicants should propose comprehensive, evidence-based intervention strategies for serving both the child victim(s) and the youth with sexual behavior problems and their parents/caregivers.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), announces funding for the Refugee Agricultural Partnership Program (RAPP). Organizations funded under RAPP implement strategies that encourage the development of agricultural and food systems related services that will improve the livelihoods, physically and economically, of refugee families. These strategies work to provide sustainable and/or supplemental income, improved access to healthy foods and better nutrition, psychosocial development, and enhanced integration into communities by refugee families. Required activities under RAPP include: 1) Access to land; 2) Farming Production; 3) Training and Technical Assistance; and 4) Coordination with the Refugee Resettlement Community.

This notice solicits applications for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nutrition Training Program. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will award funds to establish and enhance nutrition centers of excellence to improve access to comprehensive, community-based, nutrition-centered, and culturally competent coordinated care by increasing the availability of practitioners trained in MCH nutrition that are able to meet the needs of MCH populations. The program improves access to quality health care by (1) providing MCH nutrition professionals with interdisciplinary graduate education and training with a public health focus and emphasis on MCH populations and services - education and training designed to improve workforce capacity and foster leadership in program development and administration, systems integration, education, and nutrition services; (2) developing and disseminating curricula, teaching models, and other educational resources to enhance MCH nutrition programs; and (3) providing continuing education, consultation and technical assistance to local, state, and national organizations serving MCH populations while working in collaboration with State Title V and other MCH programs in order to address the needs of the MCH community.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications for multidisciplinary national conferences that will inform care and facilitate research for major issues in pediatric critical care medicine. Given the nascent stage of development, the small diverse patient populations, and the rapid expansion of the field, conducting research and establishing best practices in pediatric critical care is challenging. National conferences that convene experts from across the country hold the potential to establish the frameworks necessary to overcome these obstacles. It is anticipated that such conferences will foster collaboration among different clinical disciplines, geographically and culturally diverse institutions and medical centers, professional organizations and NIH Institutes. Specifically, it is hoped that these conferences will drive the development and acceptance of uniform definitions, facilitate the determination of common data elements, identify key knowledge gaps to advance research, and/or foster discussions on how research findings can be used to best inform guidelines for patient care .

This solicitation will support field-initiated, methodologically rigorous research and/or evaluations focused on interactions between law enforcement and youth, with practical implications for the identification and development of programs and policies that ensure officer, youth, and community safety. This solicitation encourages researchers to propose studies that contribute to the development of scientific evidence about factors that facilitate or inhibit positive police-youth interactions, as well as evaluations of the implementation and effectiveness of trainings, programs, practices, or policies designed to facilitate productive law enforcement and youth engagement.

: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit proposals for a grant to develop and expand text and chat-based capabilities for child maltreatment prevention, resource sharing, detection, and reporting. In doing this work, the grantee is required to (1) Determine best practices and protocols pertaining to the use of text and chat-based technology within the child abuse and neglect reporting context; (2) Identify effective strategies for appropriate communication, identity verification, and privacy protection for youth who may be victims of maltreatment; and (3) Develop strategies for effectively sharing resources with youth who may be experiencing maltreatment. The protocols and strategies should be widely disseminated and applicable to national hotline environments. Applicants must possess the capacity to coordinate with hotlines administered by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the National Human Trafficking Hotline. This grant will be for one 24-month project period.

The Education Innovation and Research (EIR) program, established under section 4611 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended (ESEA), provides funding to create, develop, implement, replicate, or take to scale entrepreneurial, evidence-based, field-initiated innovations to improve student achievement and attainment for high-need students; and rigorously evaluate such innovations. The EIR program is designed to generate and validate solutions to persistent educational challenges and to support the expansion of those solutions to serve substantially larger numbers of students. The central design element of the EIR program is its multi-tier structure that links the amount of funding that an applicant may receive to the quality of the evidence supporting the efficacy of the proposed project, with the expectation that projects that build this evidence will advance through EIR's grant tiers: ``Early-phase,'' ``Mid-phase,'' and ``Expansion.'' Applicants proposing innovative practices that are supported by limited evidence can receive relatively small grants to support the development, implementation, and initial evaluation of the practices; applicants proposing practices supported by evidence from rigorous evaluations, such as an experimental study (as defined in this notice), can receive larger grant awards to support expansion across the country.

The Ohio Department of Education has administered the 21st Century Community Learning Center's program since 2002. The passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 amended ESEA and altered the focus of the 21st CCLC grant. The program now focuses on funding expanded learning time (ELT) and out-of-school time (OST), both of which align academic services to the identified needs of students and state academic standards. ESSA broadened the allowable activities to include such things as student apprenticeships. The purpose of the 21st CCLC program is threefold. All funded programs must: 1. Provide opportunities for academic enrichment to assist students in meeting the state academic standards; 2. Offer students access to a broad array of additional services, such as those that focus on youth development, social emotional learning, civic engagement, and nutritional and physical health; and 3. Offer adult family members of program participants opportunities for educational development and engagement in their children's education. Eligible applicants may be local education agencies and community-based organizations. These may include faith-based organizations, institutions of higher education, city or county government agencies, for-profit corporations and other public or private entities.

NIJ intends to fund a sub-study involving several of the 21 NIDA-funded ABCD Study sites to include measures of delinquency and victimization in their investigations. The sub-study will address key questions on the interactions between substance use, brain development, delinquency, and victimization. Funding from this award will support a coordinating center to plan for and collect the first wave of data for the sub-study. NIJ intends to fund subsequent waves of data collection via supplements to this award in order to follow the children into young adulthood. NIJ anticipates making yearly supplemental awards under this solicitation for up to approximately 10 years depending on the duration of the main, NIDA-funded ABCD study.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to encourage research grant applications that propose to develop or substantially modify existing cutting-edge tools that will advance prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research. The primary objective of this FOA is to remove barriers to hydrocephalus research that are due to scarcity of tools to investigate both the disease mechanisms and alternative therapies (non-shunt) in a rigorous manner. Applications should aim to transform the field of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research by generating tools including animal and cell models, novel methods and innovative technologies that will be widely used throughout the neuroscience community to understand disease mechanisms and/or developing therapeutics.

The Community Economic Development Projects program supports innovative efforts to enhance job creation and business development for individuals with low income. The application deadline is June 15, 2018.
