Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) works to improve women's lives through advancing and supporting feminist sociological research, activism and scholars. SWS is a nonprofit, scientific and educational organization with members in the U.S. and overseas. Its mission is to promote and disseminate research about women; educate colleagues, the general public, and government officials about the implications of research on women; offer help and mutual support to women and men who share the organization's concerns; take political action to improve women's lives; and maintain relationships with national and international organizations for women and the ending of discrimination against women.

The L'Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program is a national awards program that annually recognizes and rewards five U.S.-based women researchers at the beginning of their scientific careers. Recipients receive up to $60,000 each that they must put towards their postdoctoral research. The program's partner, AAAS, manages the peer-review process. Launched in 2003 as the U.S. Fellowships component of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Fellowship program, the program aim to: Raise awareness of the contribution of women to the sciences Identify exceptional female researchers in the U.S. to serve as role models for younger generations An inter-disciplinary panel of scientists reviews all applications submitted. The top candidates chosen by the review panel are then forwarded for final selection to a distinguished Jury of career scientists and former North American L'ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Laureates. The Jury seeks candidates with exceptional academic records and intellectual merit, clearly articulated research proposals with the potential for scientific advancement and outstanding letters of recommendation from advisers. New to the program this year, applicants will also be evaluated in part on their commitment to supporting women and girls in science.

The L'Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program awards five women postdoctoral scientists annually with grants of $60,000 each for their contributions in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields and commitment to serving as role models for younger generations. The program is the U.S. component of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Fellowships program. L'Oréal USA partners with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to manage the program's application and peer-review process. The 2018 L'Oréal USA for Women in Science application period will open December 4th, 2017 and will close on February 2nd, 2018.

With your help, The Mary Kay Foundation is committed to stopping the violence, breaking the silence and making a difference for these women and children.

Through the program, grants of up to $60,000 will be awarded to community-based programs and/or healthcare agencies (e.g., community health centers, cancer centers, and women's health centers) that conduct outreach, provide breast health education, and help steer medically underserved women and men to breast cancer screening services and follow-up care, as needed. Programs should educate women in their communities about breast health and encourage women to talk with a doctor or nurse to understand their individual risk of breast cancer and at what age and how often they should be screened. In addition, applicants must incorporate into their programs systems to promote the re-screening of the women served by the program. Small, community-based organizations are encouraged to apply.

Within the framework of the For Women in Science partnership between the L'Oréal Foundation and UNESCO, we are launching the 2014 call for nominations for outstanding women scientist form all over the world. Five 100.000$ prizes will be awarded in march 2014 in Paris to five women scientists, one per region, for the contributions of their research, the strength of their commitments and their impact on society. An international Jury of eminent scientists presided in 2013 by the Nobel Prize winner, Ahmed Zewali, makes the final selection.

Applicants for the funds may be students or faculty. The project, program, or entrepreneurial idea must be created by, led by or benefit women. Grants are awarded in values of $2500 to $20,000. While we prefer the base grant to be $5,000, we are considering a limited number of $2500 which will be required to show high impact. These applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The grants must be submitted online via the link below and must include a 2-minute video. Applicants will be narrowed to a pool of 10-15 finalists by our M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Grants Committee. This committee will review applications; contact applicants if additional information is required, and present the finalists to the M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Steering Committee and Development Staff. Grant deadline for this year is Feb. 9, 2018. These finalists will perform in a fast-pitch style Hawk Tank event on April 11, 2018. Finalists will be offered fast-pitch training courtesy of the Farmers School of Business - school of Entrepreneurship, and will receive coaching and support. They will then pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less on April 11, 2018 at the event. Giving Circle members are the voters who will determine winners. Absentee voters will be given the option to vote online. Winners will be announced that night or the next day at the Symposium, to be determined.

OCRFA's Woman to Woman is a peer-to-peer support program for women with gynecologic cancers. The programs pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained survivor volunteers who provide one-on-one emotional support and mentoring to women when they need it most. From the moment of diagnosis through the end of treatment, Woman to Woman survivor volunteers have helped hundreds of women and their families cope with gynecologic cancer.

The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.

The New Scholars Program supports projects to help early- to mid-career women scientists balance family responsibilities with demanding academic careers. New Scholars seeks to actively address the attrition rate of talented women scientists caused by work-life balance issues.

The AACR-Women in Cancer Research Charlotte Friend Memorial Lectureship was established in 1998 in honor of renowned virologist and discoverer of the Friend virus, Dr. Charlotte Friend, for her pioneering research on viruses, cell differentiation and cancer. The lecture is intended to give recognition to an outstanding female or male scientist who has made meritorious contributions to the field of cancer research and who has, through leadership or by example, furthered the advancement of women in science.

Woman to Woman, a program of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained survivor-volunteers who provide one-on-one emotional support and mentoring to women when they need it most. From the moment of diagnosis through the end of treatment, Woman to Woman survivor-volunteers have helped hundreds of women and their families cope with gynecologic cancer. Through the program, one-year grants of either $60,000 (for hospital-based programs) or $30,000 (for community-based organizations) will be awarded to institutions with a large volume of gynecologic cancer patients and a need to provide this type of support to patients. Grants are provided to cover the cost of a part-time program coordinator's salary (can be a new hire or a reassignment), program costs, and a patient fund (no indirect costs allowed). It is expected that each Woman to Woman program will become self-sustaining after the first year. OCRFA will provide all program materials for patients, as well as technical assistance and support, for the life of the program (even after the end of the grant period). Institutions and organizations also will have access to a dedicated section of the Woman to Woman website (under construction) featuring tools designed to assist them in the development and administration of new programs.

CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations. Such activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from junior faculty members at all CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with disabilities to apply.

The ASGE Endoscopic Research Awards are offered to physicians for projects in basic, translational and clinical endoscopic research. ASGE is particularly interested in endoscopic research pertaining to Barrett's esophagus, capsule endoscopy, colorectal cancer, endoscopic issues specific to under-represented minorities (defined as women and individuals of diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds), controlled trials in endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic optical recognition techniques, measuring quality in endoscopy, NOTES™, and novel endoscopic treatments for obesity. 

The proposed program's purpose is to increase the availability of supportive services for young breast cancer survivors (YBCS), young women with metastatic breast cancer (mBC), and their caregivers and families by supporting organizations and entities that serve this population. The awardees will address strategies relevant to the target audience. These include: the establishment of a network of survivors and caregivers to facilitate policy, system, and environmental change interventions that increases access to lifestyle programs, clinical preventive services, and cancer care among survivors; development and implementation of innovative technological educational opportunities for health care providers on topics relevant to the delivery of appropriate treatment and care of YBCS and mBC; and utilization of patient navigation and community health worker program strategies to reach underserved populations to enhance their access to and utilization of YBCS services and programs. To this end, activities funded by this NOFO, are intended to support organizations in closing the disparity gap needed to support young breast cancer survivors. Specifically, organizations will implement strategies that aim to reduce disparities observed in survival and quality of life due to race, ethnicity, or other social determinants of health. This NOFO will also support organizations in providing support services/programs to YBCS and mBC; and provide resources for health care providers in caring for all YBCS and mBC regardless of race, ethnicity, age, or sexual orientation during the period of performance of 09/30/2019-09/22/2024.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) supports a variety of activities in health departments and organizations aimed at preventing and controlling cancer, the second leading cause of death in US men and women. Since the passage of the Cancer Registries Amendment Act in 1992, the National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) has collected data on cancer occurrence, extent, treatment and outcomes in over 45 states and jurisdictions, representing 96% of the US population. CDC's Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) has supported successful partnerships with national organizations to define standardized practices in U.S. cancer surveillance and assure and complete, timely, and high-quality data for the official federal U.S. Cancer Statistics. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to build strong partnerships among national organizations involved directly in cancer surveillance in order to enhance the data quality and operational efficiency of CDC’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR). This program has three essential components: 1) Education, Translation and Quality Control of cancer surveillance standards and best practices; 2) Cancer Staging Collaboration and Support; and 3) Standardization and Support for Laboratory and Biomarker Electronic Reporting. The overarching goal of this project is to collaboratively define and promote uniform standards in cancer staging, collection and reporting. Funded entities will identify specific enhancement needs of cancer registries and support cancer surveillance professionals, including reporters (e.g. facilities, labs), tumor registrars, and registries to submit high quality, standardized data via central cancer registries to NPCR. Relevant performance measures will be used to assess the recipients’ activities that enhance the standards, quality, and operations of NPCR cancer surveillance system.

The purpose of the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support pilot research projects using a "Traceback" approach to genetic testing women with a personal or family history of ovarian cancer and reaching out to family members to identify unaffected individuals at increased risk for cancer in different clinical contexts and communities, including racially/ethnically diverse populations.

The SBIR program, as established by law, is intended to meet the following goals: stimulate technological innovation in the private sector; strengthen the role of small business in meeting Federal research or research and development (R/R&D) needs; increase the commercial application of Federally-supported research results; foster and encourage participation by socially and economically disadvantaged small business concerns and women-owned business concerns in the SBIR program; and improve the return on investment from Federally-funded research for economic and social benefits to the Nation.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) plans to provide up to $40 million in total USAID funding over a period of five-years. The purpose of the activity is to increase utilization of FP services through universal health coverage. It will be accomplished through: 1) strengthening capacity to more effectively train medical providers and community health workers in FP in both the public and private sectors; and, 2) focusing and expanding public sector FP information and services to high need groups such as adolescents, youth, newlyweds, and postpartum girls and women. The results this activity will achieve include: 1. Increased qualified FP workforce in public and private sectors, and 2. Increased availability of public sector FP outreach contacts and services, particularly for adolescents and youth.

The American Cancer Society and Pfizer Global Medical Grants are collaborating to offer a new competitive grant opportunity focused on addressing systemic race-related barriers that contribute to disparities in outcomes among Black men and women with cancer.
