The Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research was established in 1937 for the purpose of supporting research into the causes and treatment of cancer. The fund has taken a broad approach to the study of cell growth and development, emphasizing the study of the basic biology and chemistry of the underlying processes, and increasingly has focused its resources on the funding of three-year postdoctoral fellowships, supporting fellows selected by its board of scientific advisers from among the best young scientists at what is often a critical stage in their careers. As a result, there have been more than sixteen hundred Jane Coffin Childs fellows doing basic cancer-related research in laboratories in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia. To advance its mission, the JCC Fund is accepting applications for its fellowship program. The fund supports between twenty-five and thirty new three-year cancer research fellowships every year. The current fellowship stipend levels are $52,000 for year one; $52,500 for year two; and $53,000 for year three.

This RFP seeks innovative ideas for high-risk, high-reward projects and/or seed funding necessary to demonstrate proof of concept before applying for larger grants. Projects could address any aspect of radiation oncology that falls within the scope of the priority research topic areas identified in the National Radiation Oncology Research Needs Assessment. Proposals should address the highest impact research questions for the field of radiation oncology. Knowledge derived from these studies should inform policy development or aim to improve outcomes in cancer treatment. The ROI seeks proposals that would lead to important research with practical applications for radiation oncology professionals and their patients. Special consideration will be given to proposals that are not otherwise fundable through traditional sources.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to stimulate efforts to translate scientific discoveries and engineering developments into methods or tools that address problems in basic research to understand disease, or in applied research to assess risk, detect, prevent, diagnose, treat, and/or manage disease. The rationale is to deliver new capabilities to meet evolving requirements for technologies and methods relevant to the advance of research and delivery of care in pre-clinical, clinical and non-clinical settings, domestic or foreign, for conditions and diseases within the missions of participating institutes.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to accelerate the adoption and validation of molecular/cellular/imaging markers and assays for cancer detection, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and prediction of response or resistance to treatment, as well as markers for cancer prevention and control. This FOA also includes the validation of pharmacodynamic markers and markers of toxicity. Applicants to this FOA must have an assay(s) whose performance has been analytically validated in specimens similar to those for the intended clinical use of the assay(s) and marker(s). As chemotherapies and/or radiation therapies are increasingly combined with immunotherapies to enhance durability of anti-cancer responses, multiple assays for measuring multiple markers, including immune markers, can be developed and validated simultaneously.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits renewal applications for Biobanks that will support the following NCI clinical trial programs: The NCI National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN; https://research.usc.edu/nci-national-clinical-trials-network-nctn-program/), and NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). The NCTN Biospecimen Bank (also referred to as NCTN Biobanks) will be responsible for collecting, processing, storing, and distributing well-annotated human specimens from patients with cancer who are participating in NCI-funded NCTN Phase II-III and other clinical treatment trials (CTEP/Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis; DCTD). The main goal is to support NCTN with the state-of the-art banking infrastructure and operations including maintenance of up-to-date specimen inventory. The NCTN Biobanks will distribute to qualified investigators the biospecimens linked to high-quality clinical data (including treatment and outcome information) that are critical for developing and validating biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis and prediction of responses to therapy. The NCTN Biobanks will work in collaboration with NCTN Groups and Group Statistical and Data Management Centers as well as affiliated institutions to ensure effective operation. Each Biobank needs to maintain association with one specific NCTN Group and needs to be endorsed in that role by the group leaders. NCTN Biobanks will also support biobanking and storage of biospecimens from NCORP cancer control and prevention trials (NCORP/Division of Cancer Prevention; DCP).

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is associated with the Beau Biden Cancer Moonshot Initiative (https://www.cancer.gov/research/key-initiatives/moonshot-cancer-initiative) that is intended to accelerate cancer research. Through this FOA, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites the submission of applications requesting support for projects that will be conducted to develop, test, and evaluate interventions and implementation approaches, or adapt existing approaches, to improve cancer risk communication between patients with an inherited susceptibility to cancer (and their families) and providers so that the affected individuals can make informed clinical risk management decisions. This FOA will allow interventional clinical studies that meet NIH's definition of a clinical trial (NIH's Definition of a Clinical Trial). Specifically, this FOA targets Blue Ribbon Panel Recommendation G.

The purpose of the NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00) is to encourage and retain outstanding graduate students recognized by their institutions for their high potential and strong interest in pursuing careers as independent cancer researchers. The award will facilitate the transition of talented graduate students into successful cancer research postdoctoral appointments, and provide opportunities for career development activities relevant to their long-term career goals of becoming independent cancer researchers.

 The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage revision applications (formerly called "competing revisions") from currently funded NCI U54 Resource-Related Research Projects. The applicants should propose to expand upon original research question(s) from specific projects or otherwise accelerate progress for the parent study by incorporating a new technical approach or instrument developed through support from the NCI Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies (IMAT) program. Awards from this FOA are meant to incentivize independent validation and accelerate the suitability of these emerging technologies for appropriate research communities.

The intent of the Breakthrough Award is to support promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. The critical components of this award mechanism are: Impact: Research supported by the Breakthrough Award will have the potential for a major impact and accelerate progress toward ending breast cancer. The impact may be near-term or long-term, but must move beyond a minor advancement and have the potential to lead to a new approach that is fundamentally better than interventions already approved or in clinical development. Applications are expected to identify the breast cancer patients or at-risk individuals who would ultimately benefit from the proposed research. Research Scope: The Breakthrough Award is structured with four different funding levels. The levels are designed to support major (but not all) stages of research that will lead to clinical application. Each level has a defined research scope. It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator (PI) to select the level that aligns with the scope of the proposed research. The funding level should be selected based on the research scope defined in the Program Announcement, and not on the amount of the budget. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support innovative approaches to identifying, understanding, and developing strategies for overcoming barriers to the adoption, adaptation, integration, scale-up and sustainability of evidence-based interventions, tools, policies, and guidelines. Conversely, there is a benefit in understanding circumstances that create a need to stop or reduce ("de-implement") the use of interventions that are ineffective, unproven, low-value, or harmful. The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) is the largest private funder of NET research. Since 2005, NETRF has funded $22 million in scientific research to expand the molecular understanding of NETs and help drive personalized treatment options for patients.  To that end, NETRF has issued a 2019 Request for Applications (RFA) for innovative research that increases our basic understanding of these uncommon tumors and leads to the development of more effective therapies. Grants ranging from $100,000 to $1.2 million will support projects over one to four years in the areas of basic, translational, or clinical research.

The Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation, Inc. ("DTRF") funds research that will advance the current scientific knowledge about desmoid tumors, moving toward the development of new treatment options and bringing us closer to our ultimate goal of a cure. DTRF is the only foundation in the country dedicated to facilitating and funding research for a cure for desmoid tumors. We fund research that uses cutting-edge science and creative clinical applications, in addition to novel approaches addressing potential leads based on prior research. Research proposals with additional sources of funding support are particularly desirable. Researchers must be willing to collaborate with other scientists and institutions with similar interests.

The Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) will make strategic investments to support expanded opportunities for students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medical (STEMM) fields. The investments will directly impact the ability of the state of Ohio to educate and train students to meet Ohio's career and job opportunities today and tomorrow. Choose Ohio First provides scholarships to students in innovative academic programs developed by Ohio's two-year and four-year, public and private colleges and universities, along with their business partners. The scholarships connect students to work-based learning experiences and careers in STEMM fields in order to recruit and retain these students in Ohio. Choose Ohio First is part of a strategic effort to deepen Ohio's economic strength by increasing the talent pipeline for STEMM-related industries, including computer science, through degree and certificate completion.

The BTSI is awarded to scientists at the end of their fellowship or in the beginning of their faculty appointment, who are predominantly focused on lab-based, basic/translational research. The BTSI is intended to encourage scientific inquiry in the field of basic/translational science as it relates to NETs. NANETS welcomes applications from candidates who meet the following criteria: - Candidates must have a MD, PhD, MD/PhD, DO degree or equivalent. - At the time of funding, candidates must be in the first 6 years of a faculty appointment at an accredited medical school or other institution in North America. Faculty appointments include instructors and above. - Candidates must be a NANETS member in good standing. - Previous recipients of NBTSI, NCIS or NTIG awards are not eligible to apply. Criteria for selection will include both the research proposal itself and the potential of the individual to make future scientific and/or clinical contributions to the neuroendocrine tumor field. Strong emphasis will be placed on the career development plan and the applicant's personal statements, as well as the research proposal. The research proposals section should focus on research projects with the potential to directly impact and improve the treatment of patients with neuroendocrine tumors.

Each year, CLRA's Medical Advisory Committee, consisting of prominent internationally known and respected hematologists, reviews submitted research proposals from doctors nationwide. Using your contributions, we fund research grants for doctors who are conducting the most promising research into leukemia, in the hopes of isolating the causes and finding a cure for this dread disease. The objectives of this committee are to direct the funds of the Association into the most promising projects, and where funding would not duplicate other funding sources. With your help, we are getting closer every day! Because of the support of friends like you, the scientific community is making incredible strides in developing chemotherapy regimens that are extending the lives of leukemia patients. Not everyone under treatment goes into remission but our research grants are funding the examinations into why this is so, and how we can continue to combat leukemia.
