    The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support multidisciplinary research projects that examine the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of high linear energy transfer (high LET) radiation on cell and tissue targets. The overall goal of the research is to establish a firm scientific basis for RBE models of high LET radiation and determine potential benefits in cancer treatment. A meritorious application is expected to be well-balanced in terms of interdisciplinary science that spans approaches in both radiation biology and radiation physics research. Priorities for this FOA are on 1) Applications with potential to enhance the understanding of mechanisms related to high LET effects in both cancer and normal tissues; and 2) Characterization of high LET effects that have potential to inform treatment strategies for cancers resistant to conventional radiation or other combined modality treatments.

Lung Cancer Research Foundation Invites Proposals for Pilot Grant Program | RFPs | PND - 0 views

Through the program, basic, translational, and clinical research will be supported. To be eligible, investigators must be affiliated with a nonprofit academic or research institution and must fall into one of the following categories: students and fellows; young and mid-career investigators with less than ten years' experience since initial faculty appointment; non-tenure track researchers, staff scientists, and clinicians (any number years of experience). Proposals from investigators at U.S.-based and international institutions are eligible apply, regardless of residency/citizenship status.

    The AACR-The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research "Science of the Patient" (SOP) Grants Program represents a joint effort to stimulate novel research aimed at understanding the influence of the biology of the host (i.e., patient) on the genesis, development, treatment, and survivorship of cancer. Successful projects should emphasize the interplay of host physiological systems with the tumor and/or tumor microenvironment. Harnessing the powerful approach of examining cancer not as an isolated phenomenon but as a systemic disease that affects and is affected by both the normal and pathological functions of the patient's body, these grants are expected to yield important advancements in our understanding of cancer development, progression, and treatment. Individuals with innovative ideas that have the potential to affect future clinical practice are particularly encouraged to apply.  Each grant will provide $750,000 over three years for expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient and any collaborators, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students (including tuition costs), and research assistants; research/laboratory supplies; equipment; travel applicable to the research project; publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project; other research expenses; and indirect costs.

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Catalyst Grant - 0 views

    The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is accepting applications for its 2018 Catalyst Grant program. The program, which aims to encourage and support junior faculty in the pursuit of pancreatic cancer research and establish a career path in the field, provides grants of up to $500,000 over three years to junior investigators who have yet to secure their first significant research funding. Research projects may be basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological in nature but must have direct applicability and relevance to pancreatic cancer.
