DoD Breast Cancer Era of Hope Scholar Award - 0 views

    The Era of Hope Scholar Award supports individuals early in their careers who have demonstrated significant potential to effect meaningful change in breast cancer. These individuals should be exceptionally talented scientists who have shown that they are the "best and brightest" in their field(s) through extraordinary creativity, vision, leadership, innovation, and productivity. They should have demonstrated experience in forming effective partnerships and collaborations and should exhibit strong potential for future leadership in the breast cancer research community. As the intent of the Era of Hope Scholar Award is to recognize creative and innovative individuals rather than projects, the central features of the award are the applicant's demonstrated ability to go beyond conventional thinking in their field and the innovative contribution that the Principal Investigator (PI) can make toward ending breast cancer. The PI should articulate a vision that challenges current dogma and demonstrates an ability to look beyond tradition and convention. Experience in breast cancer research is not required; however, the application must focus on breast cancer, and the PI must maintain a 50% dedication of his/her full-time professional effort during the award period to breast cancer research. This professional effort in breast cancer research can be through a combination of this award and other current support. Individuals from other disciplines who will apply novel concepts to breast cancer are encouraged to submit. The PI is expected to assemble a research team that will provide the necessary expertise and collaborative efforts toward accomplishing the research goals. The PI's research team must include two or more breast cancer consumer advocates. As lay representatives, the consumer advocates must be individuals who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are actively involved in a breast cancer advocacy organization.

CCA Issues RFP for Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Research | RFPs | PND - 0 views

    Founded in 1999, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance works to empower a nation of advocates to support patients, raise awareness of preventative measures, and inspire efforts to fund critical research. The alliance is committed to investing $10 million in critical research by 2021, including $3 million specifically to young-onset colorectal Cancer research. To advance this goal, the alliance will award three Colorectal Cancer Alliance Chris4Life Research Grants in Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Research in December 2018 (funding start date January 2019). Grant proposals will be considered in the categories of basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological. Projects should focus on risk factors and causes associated with the rise in young-onset colorectal Cancer, including but not limited to changes in the microbiome and its impact on young-onset colorectal Cancer; prevention and early detection strategies for reducing the incidence and death rates associated with young-onset colorectal Cancer; better mechanisms for increasing the long-term survival rates of those with young-onset colorectal Cancer; and/or the psychosocial impacts of young-onset colorectal Cancer and the overall social influence on daily survivorship.

    This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) invites applications for P50 Research Center Grants for Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs). The program will fund P50 SPORE grants to support state-of-the-art investigator-initiated translational research that will contribute to improved prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of an organ-specific cancer or a related group of cancers. For the purpose of this FOA, cancers derived from the same organ system (i.e., a group of organs that perform a common function) are considered related. Examples of such organ systems include gastrointestinal, endocrine and other biological systems. Other programmatically appropriate groups of cancers may include those centered around a common biological mechanism critical for promoting tumorigenesis and/or cancer progression in organ sites that belong to different organ systems. For example, a SPORE may focus on cancers caused by the same infectious agent or cancers sustained and promoted by dysregulation of a common signaling pathway. In addition, a SPORE may focus on cross-cutting themes such as pediatric cancers or cancer health disparities. The research supported through this program must be translational and must stem from research on human biology using cellular, molecular, structural, biochemical, and/or genetic experimental approaches. SPORE projects must have the goal of reaching a translational human endpoint within the project period of the grant.

The Rivkin Center Scientific Scholar Awards - 0 views

    Founded in 1996, the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research provides funding for multiple efforts, including funding for innovative research pilot studies, scholar grants to up-and-coming investigators to encourage their careers in ovarian Cancer research, public early detection screening for ovarian Cancer, and nationally and internationally attended research symposia focused on ovarian Cancer. To advance this mission, the center has issued a Call for Applications for its 2018 Scientific Scholar Awards. AACR Invites Applications for AACR-Johnson & Johnson Lung Cancer Innovation Science Grants | RFPs | PND - 0 views

    The American Association for Cancer Research-Johnson & Johnson Lung Cancer Innovation Science Grants program is a joint effort to address the need for promoting and supporting collaborative Cancer research in areas that include digital therapeutics and smoking cessation, as well as biomarkers/behavioral phenotyping that bolster  understanding of how lung Cancer can be successfully intercepted.  To that end, a grant of $1 million over three years will be awarded to a multi-institutional team in support of a new idea and/or innovative approach that has direct application and relevance to lung Cancer prevention and interception. The proposed research should be translational in nature and include a clinical component with an endpoint relevant to improving the detection or treatment of lung Cancer.
